ARCHIVED How To Convince Bf That Cross Contamination Is A Problem...
IrishHeart replied to SoLacey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You may not have meant me, specifically but I have always said this:"Gluten is kryptonite to me..and Supergirl can't fly when it's around. -
I sincerely doubt it is the hand soap. Even if there were hydrolyzed wheat germ oil in it, the chance of it glutening you is practically nil. "Most vitamin E is derived from soybean oil and most edible oil in the U.S. is highly refined. Even if unrefined wheat germ oil is the source of vitamin E, the amount of protein in an ingredient that is extracted...

ARCHIVED Intolerant Of Cane Sugar And Yeast
IrishHeart replied to bluelove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Omygosh! You just can't seem to see that the OP asked one simple question about baking without yeast and sugar. You may notice she hasn't been back yet...?? (probably scared the poor woman off. ) Did she ask for a Candida diagnosis and TREATMENT plan? Not that I can see. Just...let it go. -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hey Dinner Peeps! I want to wish you all a safe and happy holiday weekend and to leave you all with this thought: In the immortal words of Julia Child, when she was asked "to what do you attribute your long and happy life"? she replied: "BEEF and GIN." ( and whoohoo! both are gluten free!!) Love , blessings and slainte (for those... -

ARCHIVED Intolerant Of Cane Sugar And Yeast
IrishHeart replied to bluelove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Just a moment here. Let's all look at this objectively.....you are a new member who has come into an established community and you should be very careful about using the phrase "trolls" when speaking about those people who are not doing anything but helping and asking questions and steering the conversation back to the original question. I am not sure why... -

ARCHIVED How To Convince Bf That Cross Contamination Is A Problem...
IrishHeart replied to SoLacey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess I am confused as to why a bunch of fellow celiacs at a support group meeting were more convincing than another bunch of fellow celiacs in this support group forum. Why would he consider our messages about CC "paranoid" and theirs aren't? We told you to tell him the exact same thing they did. We're all celiacs with a few years under our belts... -
ARCHIVED Intolerant Of Cane Sugar And Yeast
IrishHeart replied to bluelove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Before anyone else assumes you have a "candida problem", (because some people just avoid yeast and sugar for other reasons such as following a paleo diet--as I have in the past ) may I suggest Elana Amsterdam's website to you? She has tons of recipes that do not use sugar or yeast. Open Original Shared Link Most paleo recipes, in fact do not... -
ARCHIVED Seronegative; What Should I Tell My Gastroenterologist?
IrishHeart replied to 0range's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can tell him this latest research "6-22% of cases of celiac disease are seronegative. This means that between 6-22% of people with celiac disease do not have abnormally high antibodies on celiac blood screening tests but do have abnormal small intestinal tissue on biopsy." Ludvigsson J, Bai J, Biagi F, Card TR, Ciacci C, Ciclitira PJ, Green P... -

I'm trying to dump some lbs...and the hubs sends me this. (he is "ice cream man"--our friends gave him that nickname lol) He makes me laugh. He thinks he is giving me a subliminal hint to break out the ice cream maker. Subtle eh? We have a great vanilla bean ice cream recipe that can be a base for 'add-ins", but this looks good too. Just sharing the... -

I do too. I would probably eat asparagus every day if i could lol.... but she said the asparagus was "very thick and chewy tonight"...lol.. I appreciated her honesty. I would never venture off the gluten-free menu myself, but she guaranteed it was after checking in the kitchen with the big guns people--and I had no issues with it. -

OOh! OOH I know! I know!! I love Bonefish grille !! We went Saturday....chilean sea bass with mango salsa, jasmine rice and their new side which was a zucchini/tomato ratatouille type thing (glad they dumped the chickpea thing). The server was great. She asks "want me to check and make sure that's gluten-free? the district manager is back there."... well... -

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed With Questions!
IrishHeart replied to bd13's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
First of all, you have only been at this for 2 months, hon, so you may still feel a bit wonky. It's not psychosomatic as your parents are suggesting, it's just the way it is right now. Be careful of cross contamination and in time, you will start to feel better. I do not think this necessarily means you have any food allergies or other intolerances...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
IrishHeart replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
I am being impartial here and I honestly do not understand why you are taking exception to a very helpful post that has good and relevant information in it. She is not "incorrect" nor does the product or the information suggest "false hope" at all. I just am not seeing how you are interpreting that from the post, sorry. On the contrary, if someone...- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Can “Glutenase” Pills Help People With Celiac Digest Gluten?
IrishHeart replied to kareng's topic in Publications & Publicity
But, that's just it...it's not a dead horse topic. It comes up quite often because newly Dxed people wonder if it works, so by making the topic its own thread, when people use the search engine, they will come directly to the link to this article that explains the reason why it doesn't. It was a good idea.- 21 replies

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Been Glutened By Ground Beef?
IrishHeart replied to across's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, then, sadly Jules Shepherd and the American Celiac Alliance and everyone else who worked tirelessly on getting the Gluten Free Labeling Law passed for the benefit of celiacs and NCGSers alike will be thrilled to know that some people think the labels are worth crap. Anyone can read a label--it's common sense!!!... but some of you are saying even...
