  1. You know, I love where I live now, but besides the seafood (and other fresh foods), the autunm leaves, and of course my friends, I believe the Bulletin is one of the things I miss the most. They are good people, and this just proves it. Jim Konrad USED to be a sportswriter for them. I'm glad he got that promotion several years ago. He is a truly decent man...
  2. Well, at least he responded. I'm glad he removed it, but it would be better if he contacted the parent company and notified them of their tremendous blunder.
  3. The cloudy plastic that gallons of water (and milk) usually come in are OK, at least for now. It's the crystal clear plastic that you find individual servings of water (and soda) come in that could be a problem.
  4. I saw the icons for Facebook and Twitter on their website. I guess if you wanted to contact them online you have to go that route. I can't because I don't do either one.
  5. FruitE, BPA's are that compound in oil based plastic that has caused such a stir in the past few years. It has been completely taken out of baby food jars and all other kid's plastic food/liquid containers, and many companies have removed it from ALL of their containers. I'm sure there are still SOME of the old ones left, but how to tell? Here are a couple...
  6. If you type the headline into google you will find lot's of other papers that ran this article. Maybe you can write to some of them.
  7. If it's an April Fool's joke, I hope every paper that printed this gets sued. Newbies are confused enough, and I'm sure that some of them might think whole wheat flour is safe after reading this.
  8. "(barty - really? wow, that's a bummer )" Eh, you get used to it.
  9. I wanted to say that too, but unfortunately I don't subscribe to the online edition so I couldn't. Wouldn't matter anyway - the article is, I guess the word is syndicated - it's in lots of newspapers all across the country.
  10. So I saw an article about gluten-free in what used to be my local newspaper. In the article there is a recipe printed, and it has WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR!!!! I can't believe the stupidity!!! Open Original Shared Link
  11. I know Dawn USED TO BE gluten-free, but that info isn't recent. I can't see why they would have added gluten to their formula, but I bet if you wrote to them they'd answer you.
  12. W8in, you also MAY have gotten "corned" from the lining in the foil packet. They have stopped making that and the lining in most cans out of that BPA plastic, and now very often the plastic is made from the protein in corn. I know corn bothers you as it does me. Although if I stay "clean" I can tolerate corn starch (because there is little to no protein in...
  13. I used to work at Friendly. I would have to say NOTHING there is safe from CC. Nothing. I know their practices and I would absolutely not eat anything there. Not their food, not their salads, not their ice cream.
  14. Yes, you are going through gluten withdrawal. Headaches, mood swings, constant hunger are common. It only lasts two to three weeks. Hang in there!
  15. Don't let them kid you. They add bread to the meat because bread is cheaper than meat! Any restaurant that does that will cut corners in other ways too.
  16. I enjoyed it too. But I have to say, unless you want to get really PO'ed, don't read the comments. There are so many ill-informed and downright nasty people out there!
  17. Start with meats, potatoes, veggies and fruit, preferably fresh. When I went on an elimination diet I ate meat, sweet potatoes or white potatoes, broccoli or cauliflower, and the only "condiment" I used was butter. Yeah, it was boring, but it helped me to figure out what was causing my problems.
  18. There are so many ways to get cross-contaminated! If someone dips a knife in your butter or mayo after it has touched gluten bread, the whole stick/container is now contaminated. Or if you toast your gluten-free bread in a toaster that gluten eaters use, your gluten-free bread is now gluten toast. If you use a strainer that has ever strained gluten, or if...

    ARCHIVED Crps

Oh sweet Addie, I am so sorry you're in so much pain. I've got no suggestions or advice. Just lots of love, prayers, and great big ((((HUGS))))
  20. Hi and welcome! You say you have learned to cut more and more gluten out of your diet. That sounds to me like you are still getting SOME gluten. And that is why you're still in the bathroom so much. At 21 you must be almost done with college? Although I wish I could have afforded to be tested so I would know the extent of the damage, I was uninsured and...
  21. Those could all be symptoms of celiac. It sounds like your doctor is on the ball. A lot of folks here had to beg, cajole, or demand celiac testing. And even then some of those doctors refused. When you get the results, ask for a copy and then post them here. Also, keep in mind that even if they come back negative you might have non-celiac gluten intolerance...
  22. We have a usually overpriced Shopko here in town, but I get my Planter's cashews there because they are the only ones who carry the BIG can. This morning I happened to look in their vitamin section and was blown away! They have their own brand of supplements. They make two lines, one called Shopko Naturals. "Contains no sugar, salt, dairy, yeast, wheat...
  23. I close the shop at six and it comes on at six here. I'll only miss what they say between getting out of the car and into the house.
  24. I heard the ad for today's "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" in NPR this morning and they are having people from America's Test Kitchen on to talk about the best gluten-free recipes. In my area it will be on at six PM. It looks from the comments that it has already aired in some areas and that they talked about the "fad" of gluten-free. But maybe there will be...
  25. Go to findmeglutenfree.com and see if there are any restaurants in the area you plan on vacationing in that are safe. Now, just because a restaurant may be listed there doesn't mean it's safe, but if you read the reviews and people say they didn't get sick, it might be worth taking a chance. (I would wait until the last day of vacation though, just to be...
