  1. I must cut dairy. I don't want to, but I must. My eczema is getting so bad. I know that it's dairy causing most of the trouble, but I've just ignored it up until now because I didn't want to give up my beloved cheese, but it's getting too bad to ignore anymore. I have tried to look up websites for dairy free products etc, but of course nothing is gluten...
  2. You mean that there is actually something you can do about teeth clenching?? I do this constantly, not just when I'm asleep, and I have never been able to stop (my father does it too, all the time). Please tell me more!
  3. I can absolutely, positively, 100% assure you that Nestle formulas do not contain gluten and I can 99.99999% assure you that other brands don't either (just because I haven't seen them being made with my own eyes, but I would be shocked if they did). Infant formula is regulated so strictly (you can look up the Infant Formula Act online if you want to see...
  4. I second Alpine Aire, I've tried it and it's decent plus they have "gluten free" right on the package. (This is the kind that my dad was buying, at REI).
  5. If you have access to hot water (and most places do, even if it's a gas station) Alpine Aire dehydrated backpacking meals are not too shabby. The have a bunch that are gluten-free, I have seen them at REI but you can also order them online.

    ARCHIVED Eczema

I think that my eczema is partially diet related, but also is made much worse by the fact that I must wash my hands about a million times a day and also sunlight seems to bother it.
  7. That's interesting, if you go to the store and look at the labels they clearly list wheat right at the bottom (except for the texas pit sauce, it's gluten-free). Maybe you just got an idiot.
  8. I've always wanted to try those, but I never really had anywhere to go. Now we have a bunch of land and I'm really excited to try them out this winter. Any tips? How about good websites to look at for equipment? Where do you usually go?
  9. Define "a long period of time". One day? Several days? A week? I have been caught out without any gluten-free supplies, and I went 20+ hours without a single bite to eat. Not once did I even contemplate eating something gluteny. I was hungry, but I would have to be absolutely desperate before I resorted to gluten.
  10. Polystyrene foam plates do not contain gluten, I worked at a factory that makes plates for hefty and several store chains for 3 years and my husband has worked there for 10 years. They are fine.
  11. Oh, I LOVE those Grandma Ferdon's cinnamon rolls. Luckily she is pretty close to me and they actually sell them at my local grocery store. I know what you mean about being lucky to live in the time that we do, my dad's cousin was diagnosed many years ago (25+ years, in high school and she is now at least in her late 40's). I can't imagine how tough it must...
  12. Oh, right. The Bread Barn does have frozen stuff all week, but I just meant that you could get really good fresh baked stuff on Sundays. Getting that stuff fresh is SO worth trying to get there on a Sunday.
  13. Mongoose, I'm originally from the madison area and my father still lives there. I eat at the Imperial Garden almost every time I visit. There is also a PF Changs in Middleton now. The terrace at the student union has cider on tap, and if you can get there on a Sunday the gluten free items at the Bread Barn are to die for. SO good.
  14. I actually find it oddly fitting for people that I know. There is me: born November 9th, I am a lefty with tons of allergies and eczema (october, but close) There is my husband with his weak teeth enamel. There is my mom, born in October with a "mystery" disease that totally mimics MS but hasn't ever tested positive for MS. There is my first husband...
  15. Wow, that is really interesting! I'm not born in June, but I was born in November and I'm left-handed and certainly prone to allergies and hay fever. My husband was born in July and has had major problems with his teeth.
  16. I have both.
  17. There appear to be quite a few of us from WI, though not all from the SE part. Open Original Shared Link
  18. Normally I use quinoa and brown rice for my whole grains, but I want to try some of the others. The only problem is that I can only find either Arrowhead Mills or Bob's Red Mill packaged stuff, I do NOT trust the bulk containers at the grocery store as I have watched those being filled. I have heard many negative things about A.M. and Bob's in regards...
  19. Yikes! I can buy it locally for $6.99 for a sixer! You guys should try contacting distributers in your area and asking them to carry it. That's what I did.
  20. Ok, I know this is of no help, but I keep seeing that subject line and reading it as "make your own labrador?"
  21. Mine will show up within a couple of hours and continue to worsen for days and days.
  22. Viola is correct. I have to sample (taste) malto on a nearly daily basis at work. I can assure you that it is gluten-free.
  23. I would love to try oats again, but I'm nervous! Prior to diagnosis I went through a phase of eating steel-cut oatmeal every single day, and my symptoms were the worst ever. As my husband put it, I had rash on top of rash. That could just be a coincidence though. I am very curious....
  24. As far as I know, the Hornsby cider is not gluten-free.
  25. I think that my dad has it...but he went gluten-free for several weeks before testing just "to see" and then of course his testing came back inconclusive and he refuses to believe that he might have it (even though I have it and his first cousin has it). He is 55 now, and I really hate to think of him shortening his life. It makes me really, really sad.
