ARCHIVED What To Take For Nausea
Jnkmnky replied to melisadki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I used to drink Snapple raspberry Iced tea when I had an upset stomach. If it's gluten free, it may help you. Someone told me raspberry is soothing. Could have been the power of suggestion. -
ARCHIVED Vitamins..essential Or Not?
Jnkmnky replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We don't use them. We eat a healthy diet which includes a daily salad. Of course, if you're looking to fix yourself after having been depleted due to malabsorbtion issues, then a multi until you're back to speed is a good idea. -
ARCHIVED How Long Until I Would See Some Results?
Jnkmnky replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was two months past turning three. He had baby babble going on..at best. He spoke in his first complete sentence 4 days after going gluten free. He was a different child. I didn't know about peptides back then or that kids with autism can benefit from a gluten and casein free diet for the same reasons. *leaky gut, peptides, opiate-like drugged... -
ARCHIVED Am I Allowed To Swear?
Jnkmnky replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was three. He showed mind-blowing improvement within four days. Tinkyada pastas are the best. Quinoa is kinda gross. We had stuffed shells with Tinkyada brand pasta last night. YUM. Can not tell the difference. Promise. Get Chebe and make bread sticks. Load up with the garlic salt and brush with butter. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Supplementation
Jnkmnky replied to AmandaD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sunlight. Get out more. It's great. Also, there's been some studies linking MS to vitamin D defs. They say that people living in more southly regions have WAY less MS and attribute it to the higher doses of Vit. D. Get out and bask in the sunlight. Now you can justify it as medically necessary! -
ARCHIVED Explaining Gf As Lifestyle Choice.
Jnkmnky replied to dogear's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What's the big deal? I read Dangerous Grains to further my understanding for the sake of my son -who has Celiac Disease. As a result I'm gluten free. So are my two other non-celiac children. Who cares? Maybe if you fortify yourself with knowledge about the dangerous, toxic effects of gluten on the human body, you can rely on that defense when you feel... -
ARCHIVED Am I Allowed To Swear?
Jnkmnky replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you want to convince non-celiacs to go gluten-free, reading Dangerous Grains is a good place to start. -
ARCHIVED Failure To Thrive In Todler With Celiac
Jnkmnky replied to VelezLA's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dairy, eggs and peanuts. Well, that does complicate the diet. Any chance the egg thing is not accurate? I believe this company makes bread your son can have... Open Original Shared Link Give it a look. I know they have a lot of soy and Casien free breads. All good stuff, too. How about tacos- old el paso taco sauce is gluten-free. Skip the... -
ARCHIVED Am I Allowed To Swear?
Jnkmnky replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You don't have to switch everyone. Your son can't dictate the financial burden of this dietary challenge unless you allow him to. He's old enough to understand "no" when it's best for the family. Make it positive by calling the gluten free items "HIS" and point out that you and your husband "CAN'T" have his stuff. That may provide the ownership over the... -

You could further your chances of success by emailing the authors of Dangerous Grains and ask them to pester Oprah. Also, the guy who runs this web site, Scott Adams could write and offer to be a guest speaker on the subject. I think the more reputable people who have accountability on the issue would be more persuasive.

ARCHIVED Nearing End Of Gluten Challenge....
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Good luck with the testing. All of my tests came back neg, but I went gluten-free over the summer. I've had occasional "cheats" when going out, but nothing too major. ANYWAY- Last week, I bought a loaf of french bread... my non-celiac kids and I ate it thoroughly buttered. It was so good. I had the WORST brain fog for two days. It started about two... -

ARCHIVED Oprah - Let's Get Cd On Her Show
Jnkmnky replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
Oprah's addressed Celiac to some degree already. A few years back, a group of women called The Satelite Sisters had an ongoing article in her Oprah Magazine. The sisters made a disparaging comment about annoying parents with children with Celiac Disease. Well, as you can imagine, all hell broke loose. Letters appeared in Oprah's following magazine telling... -
ARCHIVED Tobacco Use
Jnkmnky replied to Jenn2005's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going to be abrupt sounding with you...cause that's my personality. Take no offense! If you want to quit.. Quit. Stop looking for a way to do it. You know who put that idea in your head??? The companies marketing various "help you quit methods". You don't need ANY of them to quit. NONE. NOT ONE. You just need yourself to quit. It's personal... -
ARCHIVED Tobacco Use
Jnkmnky replied to Jenn2005's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't smoked in 18 years. I still have cravings when I'm under extreme stress. Quitting isn't easy. Maybe a reality check will help your husband cope with the struggle to not smoke. There's no magic cure for cravings, and quitting isn't easy. -

Open Original Shared Link We use these guys exclusively. All of their products are great... I don't like the cinnamon raisin bagels. Donuts, pizza crust, breads are all great. Open Original Shared Link Chebe is great for rolls, pizza sticks, hot pockets and other creations, but shipping is too high.

ARCHIVED Hershey's Help!
Jnkmnky replied to Kailynsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hershey's was a total pain in the a$$ today. Busy line, web site useless.... Finally got through after being disconnected several times... Jolly Ranchers and some new recess pieces with peanuts and a crunchy shell.... *I've never seen them before last night* anyway, they're both gluten free. I seriously hate the oh-so-helpful policy of disclosing all... -

ARCHIVED Stick-on Birth Control Patches, Etc
Jnkmnky replied to skbird's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You're not horrible. My sister has NO desire for kids either. I don't quite understand it, but I don't have a problem with a person choosing a kid-less life. I only want to stress the use of bcpills as they relate to women's health. I understand not wanting to get pregnant, but I don't understand choosing bcpills as the preferred method. I think it's... -
ARCHIVED Stick-on Birth Control Patches, Etc
Jnkmnky replied to skbird's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Birth control pills to control the pain of endometriosis is more like a medication for a serious problem... Does anyone see a problem with using birth control pills to control pregnancy? I cringe when I hear women are using those pills/patches. Of course, you may cringe when people bring up the "don't use them" train of thought... I just don't see why... -
ARCHIVED Does Wheat Allergy = Celiac?
Jnkmnky replied to michelle4boys's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had a panic attack two years ago and was prescribed xanax. I took on pill a day, cut into thirds for two weeks. I had a "rare" allergic reaction to the benzodiazapine in xanax. I had excruciating joint pain for 4 months from about 14 pills. I like to pass along that info whenever the opportunity arises as it is such a *rare* reaction, and it took... -

ARCHIVED Albertson's Rocks
Jnkmnky replied to elonwy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It took me three months, but I got my Albertson's to carry those items as well. It began about a month ago...maybe they're all going to eventually get the items in. If your albertson's isn't carrying these items yet, you can use this info to encourage them to do so.
