ARCHIVED Guitar/chord Question
aikiducky replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
In other words, you need an E major chord after that A major 7th. Pauliina doing a fly-by from up north! (visiting Finland just for a weekend) -
ARCHIVED My Son's Tests Are Back
aikiducky replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, his sister also tested negative on bloods but positive with biopsy, so that could be something that runs in the family so to say. The two main genes that are usually tested for account for maximum 95% of cases, so that still leaves a chance that he could have classic celiac even without the main genes. So you don't need to feel that celiac is completely... -
ARCHIVED Starting Gluten Free
aikiducky replied to Boffin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Milk can be a problem in the beginning, but I think you could start the way you are planning to, and see in a week or to how you are doing. Not everybody has a problem with milk. OR you could look for almond milk or rice milk to use at least now in the beginning. Just be sure to read the label carefully, some of them aren't gluten free. I like coconut... -

That is so cool that you found your ring and your dad is better! Pauliina -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Dairy Free And Still Overeating!
aikiducky replied to delilah's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi D, I had the same happen when I first went gluten free, I couldn't stop eating! I had a clear feeling that my body needed the food so I just decided to go with it...I lost weight! You're probably deficient in some nutrients and vitamins at this point if you haven't been able to absorb your food properly because of the celiac. So your body is telling... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test?
aikiducky replied to EBsMom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's really impossible to say. It might take a few months for antibodies to disappear from blood completely, but then it would depend on how high the number had been originally, and that of course you don't know. An overwhelming response to the diet should speak volumes, though... Pauliina -
ARCHIVED Dairy And/or Soy Free?
aikiducky replied to DarkIvy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The only thing I would NOT do is increase your soy intake when you go dairy free... so don't replace all dairy with soy products, but look for other alternatives as well. Pauliina -
ARCHIVED Follow Up Appointment On Tuesday
aikiducky replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Also, it might make sense to do a follow up biopsy in the future to make sure that you have healed, but in my opinion (I'm not a doctor mind you) it would make more sense to do it after a year or two on the diet. If you do it after only six weeks, there's a chance that things haven't healed a lot yet, and then the doctor can draw the false conclusion that... -
It's very common in adults for the blood tests to be false negative. If you have a positive biopsy you really need to stay gluten free, and you need to give it more time! Pauliina

Wow, that is one cool picture! Pauliina

ARCHIVED Miracle Workers Advice Needed
aikiducky replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Not any very revolutionary thoughts, but I'm thinking that since she's almost gluten free already it might not be too hard to try completely gluten free for a while, just to see if it helps? Pauliina -
ARCHIVED I Am So Upset & In Tears....
aikiducky replied to LoveBeingATwin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ooh, so sorry to hear you lost your ring, I hope you find it. I lost my wedding ring at the dojo once, we have a policy of no jewellery of any kind on the mat (for safety reasons), and I'd forgotten to take it off in the dressing room. So I put the ring on a window sill and forgot it there, and later it wasn't there any more! My husband was... -
ARCHIVED Kashi Go Lean
aikiducky replied to lob6796's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your signature says your soy intolerant? The main ingredient seems to be soy?? Pauliina -
ARCHIVED Frustrated!
aikiducky replied to JessieFree's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jessie, it can take adults up to two years for their intestines to heal completely. Two weeks is really a very very short time! If you had a positive biopsy there is little doubt that you have celiac. I had bloating on and off for the first few months, sometimes it would go down, then I'd balloon up again. I've now found out that I also shouldn't have... -
ARCHIVED Miracle Workers Advice Needed
aikiducky replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I vaguely remember recurring ear infections could be a complication of untreated celiac? I suppose it would make sense, because a child with celiac who is still on gluten would have an overworked immune system that is maybe too overwhelmed to deal with the virus. I don't have any articles or anything for you though. Have you tried the diet with your daughter... -
ARCHIVED Is Coca-cola No Longer Safe?
aikiducky replied to NoGluGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I'm here in Europe, and dealing with the codex standard, and even though I can't eat products that have 200ppm gluten, most gluten free products don't have that amount but much less. And it's clearly labelled. From my point of view, once you understand how a standard works, and how things are labelled, having a standard is better than not having any... -
ARCHIVED Might Go Back On Gluten
aikiducky replied to whattodo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Although I agree five weeks is often not enough to heal completely, usually people do see at least some little signs of improvement. I actually tend to agree that it might be a good idea to start eating gluten again and see what happens. The inflammation might be from a bacteria (have you been checked for parasites?) or from another food intolerance or allergy... -
ARCHIVED Chronic Headache?
aikiducky replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Eyes and your head position affect each other. It could be that your neck tension is making it hard for your eyes to work properly...or it could be that your eyes are straining and making it hard for your neck to relax. Do you spend a lot of time working at a computer? Pauliina -
To me that sounds like a true allergic reaction (instead of an intolerance reaction)... Especially the drop in BP. You need to be careful with this, allergic reactions can get worse with repeated exposure. Pauliina

ARCHIVED Oooops, My Blood Work Is Back!
aikiducky replied to Kottemamman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Kottemamman, it's very common to have negative blood tests but a positive biopsy. A negative blood result does not guarantee that you don't have celiac. So you could consider asking for a biopsy. It's quite possible, also, that you would test positive in a few years time. If you want to do that, you just have to continue eating gluten until possibly at... -
ARCHIVED Why Am I Still In So Much Pain?
aikiducky replied to Electra's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Electra, since cutting out everything else from your diet is there something in particular that you have started eating more of to compensate? Maybe you have started to eat more of something, a fruit or vegetable for example, that you happen not to digest very well, or are intolerant to. Does the pain feel like it has to do with your digestive system... -
Extra vit. B complex helps me... and copious amounts of caffeine, if your tummy can handle it right now. Hope you feel better soon. Pauliina
-
Wow, good that you did see the doctor. I hope you recover soon! Pauliina
-
Good for you! Thanks for the update, and congrats to the high school graduate! After two and a half years gluten free (and a few other things free) lately I've had a strange new sensation in my intestines... they're QUIET... I haven't had real pains or troubles for a long time, but now suddenly there's this odd feeling of calm. It's like until now...
