ARCHIVED What Kind Of Pizza Crust Do You Use?
jkmunchkin replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We've experimented with a few different recipes and my favorite one so far has to be the pizza crust from Annalise Roberts book, Gluten Free Baking Classics. It's absolutely delicious. And for sauce, I like the Don Pepino's, which you can find in any supermarket. It comes in a yellow can. I top it with fresh mozzarella and YUM! -
ARCHIVED Yoplait
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks! I knew the regular ones are gluten free because I eat them all the time, but my sister bought to many and gave me a bunch to take. They were the light ones so I just wanted to make sure since that's not what I normally eat. -
Does anyone know if the Yoplait Light yogurts are gluten free? I know they started marking them gluten free right near the ingredients, but I think I may have a batch from before they started doing this.

LOL!! Y'know I was gonna ask for that zuchini bread recipe, but I think I changed my mind -
ARCHIVED Easy Sandwich Bread Recipes
jkmunchkin replied to ab123's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you are making this in a dorm, I think the easiest thing to use would be bread mixes. The only one I ever tried was Anna's, but they are awesome. Any additional ingredients you need to add to the mix can be found at any supermarket. You only need the bread machine for the sandwich type breads. If you want to try some of the flavored ones like banana... -
The mongolian beef and ginger spare ribs are amazing!! I've tried a lot of stuff there, but those are my favorites.

I am having a bbq (birthday celebration) and in addition to hot dogs, hamburgers and the various sides, appetizers, etc. that we'll make, I wanted to have some sort of chicken. But not a chicken that goes on the grill. I was thinking of maybe a chicken with onions and peppers in like a white wine or sherry sauce. Does anyone have a recipe for something like...

ARCHIVED Would You Eat A Mainstream Cereal That Has Oat Flour?
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, feel free to ignore this... I just looked at the ingredients online again and didn't notice that one of the last few ingredients is Wheat Starch. Oh well. -
ARCHIVED Would You Eat A Mainstream Cereal That Has Oat Flour?
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't eat breakfast a lot (I know I should), and this morning I was a little hungry; so I went down to the cafeteria at work to find something. There were a whole bunch of cereals and so just for curiousity sake I picked a few up to see if of the previous good or bad options had any ingredient changes. I was reading the Lucky Charms box and it seems the... -
ARCHIVED How To Lower Cholesterol?
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, definately 2 things I should have mentioned. It is actually also genetic for me, which I know is a major factor. And my overall cholesterol is ok. Not great, but ok. It is just my LDL's that are high. Gemini - if I were to start taking th fish oil or flaxseed oil in pill form, is there a dose and frequency you would recommend? I'm not sure if I... -
I went to my doctor last week for a physical (got results yesterday) and I was happy to hear that a lot of my vitamin deficencies are getting better, my thyroid numbers are good, etc, etc... but he said my cholesterol is a little high. I forget the exact numbers, but it was the LDL's (which is the bad cholesteral) and it was around 136. I really don't...

ARCHIVED French Onion Soup
jkmunchkin replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This definately doesn't qualify as a recipe but I really like the Wolfgang Puck French Onion Soup, a piece of gluten-free bread and Polly-O mozzarella cheese baked on the top. -
I 2nd Celiac Specialties donuts! My birthday is in a few weeks, and I was going to request these as one of my presents. I'm pretty easy to please LOL!!!

ARCHIVED Which Brands Of Flours Have The Least "grit"
jkmunchkin replied to sullystaub's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I make my own flour blend using Annalise Roberts recipe. She suggests using Authentic Foods rice flour and I have to say, for me that is the key to "no grit". IMO this is the best flour out there. You can use pretty much any other brand for the other flours, but definately Authentic Foods for the rice flour. I also really like their pancake mix. -
ARCHIVED What Cracker Do You Use To Make Smores?

I use the graham crackers from The Grainless Baker. MMMMMMMMMM!!! -
ARCHIVED Glutino Products
jkmunchkin replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For pre-made baked goods and bread, The Grainless Baker is amazing. Celiac Specialties makes incredible donuts. That is the only thing I've tried from the, but I heard their cinnamon roles are also awesome. For cake mixes, I love Namaste chocolate cake mix. You would never know this is gluten free. And if you want to make baked goods from scratch... -
If it makes you feel any better I also was told I have osteopenia and I'm 29. My doctor told me to take calcium 600 mg + Vitamin D 3x's a day and do excercise such as pilates. I was so excited to hear that I needed to take calcium 3x's a day, when the recommended dose for senior citizens is 2x's a day. (No, no sarcasm here. LOL)! Did I mention I'm 29!!!!...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Soups?
jkmunchkin replied to Lissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm also a soup lover; and that was a big thing for me to find gluten free soups too. As mentioned, Progresso has a lot of gluten-free soups. They will clearly label, so just read the ingredients. Wolfgang Puck also has a lot of gluten free soups. The french onion soup is my favorite. Open Original Shared Link Heinz also has a tomato soup that... -
Great to know. What kind of gluten free dishes do they do?

ARCHIVED Response I Got My From Alexis Stewart
jkmunchkin replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Publications & Publicity
Does anyone else find it slightly ironic that Alexis sent several replies saying how there are worse things, such as cancer (which ofcourse all of us agree); but when someone sends her an email telling her that they are in fact in remission from cancer they developed because of undiagnosed celiac, she still finds away to dismiss it! -
ARCHIVED Response I Got My From Alexis Stewart
jkmunchkin replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Publications & Publicity
I don't think BB comes across like that at all. I always find his posts to be very informative and often very warm, especialy when people need Vegas advice. I don't want to start a debate about his personality, but personally I think the emails he has written Alexis have been wonderful, and I appreciate them. -

ARCHIVED Alexis Stewart Bashing The Gluten-free Diet On Her Sirius Radio Show
jkmunchkin replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Publications & Publicity
I just sent a scathing (yet informative) email. That is beyond infuriating. She is a spoiled little girl, who has worked for nothing, and is only successful because of her mother's hard work. -
ARCHIVED Wonderful Bread
jkmunchkin replied to stargazer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I 2nd the Grainless Baker. I had a delicious turkey with swiss sandwich on mock rye today for lunch with their bread. No toasting and crumbling. And last night I had a yummy grilled cheese with it. If you want a mix, I like the Anna breads. -
I was just reading that amongst other things, Marc Jacobs says he is no longer eating flour. This is all part of some organic diet he has started on, but hey you never know if it could turn into exposure for celiac.
