  1. There has been a lot of controversy in regards to this merger. Open Original Shared Link
  2. My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man's family, friends and the same of his poor friend that had Elvin die in his arms. The work you do is amazing... you are truly and incredible person.
  3. I've been to St. Maarten / St. Martin a couple times, but unfortunately both times were pre-diagnosis. However, I do remember eating a lot of fish. Which side are you staying on? I think you may have more luck on the Dutch side by town, as I remember them having the more basic dishes. Hopefully someone can provide you with more detailed info. I love...
  4. So glad to hear this!! I was just thinking this morning that I want to add a cruise to Alaska to my list of travel destinations.
  5. I usually take Pepto Bismol, which sometimes can help a bit, sometimes not at all. I have one of those heating pads that you put in the microwave that aleviates the pain while it is on my tummy. And I basically just try and drink a lot of water and eat bland stuff like rice or sometimes a gluten free bagel. I usually am in to much pain to do it, but I...
  6. I've been wanting to try this product for awhile and I have a gift certificate to Sephora so I figured I'd give it a try. But I was wondering for anyone that uses this, can I still use products from other brands, such as my Nars Blush?
  7. Thanks everyone! I was taking to my mom over the weekend about it (her and my dad went to Italy several years ago), and as of I think I'm going to do Florence, Venice, Rome and the Amalfi Coast (along with as much of the surrounding towns of those cities as possible). I hope I'm not trying to squeeze to much in I'll have lots more questions when...
  8. I got the Zorijushi (sp?). It works great for gluten free bread.
  9. The first time I was glutened after becoming gluten free I puked. And like Rivergirl said, before I was diagnosed I had a combination of puking and D. I thought I was lactose intolerant And as mentioned, even though the cake itself was flourless, there is a good chance they dusted the pan with flour. I've gone to a few places where they've had flourless...
  10. I am thinking of planning a trip to Italy next year, ideally for 10 - 14 days. I would probably be going around August, as that is the best time for both me and my husband to take of work for that lengthy a period... but would really love to go in Sept. or October. Ofcourse we want to see the culture and history of the different regions of Italy, and...
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT!!!! Thanks for creating an incredible forum.
  12. I had the worst experience I've had at any restaurant at a Pizzeria Uno's a couple months ago. If they came out with a gluten free pizza, I might go to a different location and try it but I'm not sure. It was a really, really horrible experince; just one blunder after another.
  13. I use the graham crackers by the Grainless Baker as a crust when I make cheesecake. Everyone loves it. I made a cheesecake for Christmas to bring to my inlaws, and a week later his aunt was still raving about it.
  14. OMG, I would eat at Risotteria every day if I lived 5 blocks from there. LOL!!! I've actually spent half the morning debating whether I should go down there for lunch. I work in Times Square so I can easily just hop on the 1, but I'm being really lazy. Begging them to deliver here didn't work
  15. Anyone ever try any of the gravies from Mayacamas? Wondering how they are. Open Original Shared Link
  16. I never watched it, but I do remember some kids used to watch and talk about the show.
  17. I haven't even had a time to read it yet this morning, but there is a big article in The New York Times this morning. I skimmed it real quick and it looks like it's on the different restaurants in NYC with gluten free menus and some of the blogs, etc. It also has the recipe for Risotteria's breadsticks.... which I believe is the same recipe they use...
  18. NY. Two of the 4 major pharmaceutical companies are based in the tri-state area. Merck's headquarters are in NJ and Pfizer's headquarters are in NYC. You don't have to live in the city. I live in a suburb in Westchester 35 mins. outside of the city and commute in.
  19. I tend to get joint and bone pain after getting glutened. Specifically in my jaw and feet.
  20. I think Carla's advice is perfect. I totally stressed about what both my mom (technically my stepmom) and my husband's mom were going to wear. My mom tends to sometimes have interesting taste and my MIL is the plainest woman on earth. I was so aftraid my mom would be in some fro fro dress and my MIL would be in a black suit. But my mom ended up picking...
  21. What is beer bread? I guess by the name of it, it's obvious, but I've never heard of it.
  22. Tinkyada does make a large shell that is used for manicotti. I can usually find it at Whole Foods or Wild Oats.
  23. Tons and tons of candy is gluten free. To name a few: Almond Joy, Baby Ruth, M&M's (plain or peanut), Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, Mounds, 3 Musketeers, Reese's Pieces, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Tootsie Rolls, Sweet Tarts, Hershey's kisses, hershey bars, york peppermint patties. There is definatey more, but this is just off the top of my head. For...
  24. I heard some Whole Foods have them, but I haven't seen them at my Whole Foods.
