Thanks so much Donna! Yeah that Prevpac is what I took the first time. The doctor thought I had an allergic reaction to the penicillin, even though I never was allergic to it before. He thinks it could have been the extremely high dose of it. Which makes sense. Then again this was also the GI that noted my small intestine looked "funny" but didn't take a...

Thanks guys! I'm not positive it's H Pylori again, because the pain isn't as bad as last time. But last time I also was in constant pain from the undiagnosed celiac, so I think that made it worse. Now my other concern is the last time I took the medication for it, I had an allergic reaction 1 week in (you're supposed to take it for 2 weeks), but I...

I wasn't sure where to post this, since it's not really celiac related. I think I may have H Pylori (again. I had it a few years ago); and I know they will want to do an endoscopy to confirm if I have it. The only problem is, I had an endoscopy done in December to see how my small intestine is healing from the celiac. Is it ok to have another endoscopy...

ARCHIVED Hershey's Cacao Reserve
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried the Hershey's Cacao Reserve chocolate? Specifically Arriba (Dark Milk Chocolate). It says processed on a facility that processes wheat so I'm a bit hesitant to try it. -
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to ALL of you!!!!!

If I'm making it myself I either just like plain or pineapple. From Risotteria I just like plain. From Mozarrelli's I like the spinach and mushroom and I love the bruschetta pizza.

ARCHIVED Mozzarelli's In New York City
jkmunchkin replied to EG+FC's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
LOVE Mozzarelli's!!!!! I went for the 1st time a couple weeks ago, and went back again for lunch last Friday. I think I may make it my ritual Friday lunch. The first time I had a spinach mushroom slice and a bruschetta slice. Both were wonderful, but the bruschetta slice.... OMG HEAVEN!!!!!! I wanted the same when I went last week, but they were out... -
ARCHIVED Housebreaking A New Puppy
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
WOW, thank you all so much!! This is very helpful. It both gave me some great tips on stuff I wouldn't have thought of and also reaffirmed a lot of the things I was planning on doing. I promise to post pictures when we get him -
ARCHIVED Quinoa Pasta
jkmunchkin replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What brand did you get? I've been wanting to try the Quinoa pasta. There is one in a teal box at Whole Foods I was going to try. Rocco Dispirito recommended it to me so I figure it's gotta be good... -
ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Waffles
jkmunchkin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kinnikinnick now has frozen waffles and they are great!! They come in regular flavor and maple brown sugar. I tried these at the Suffolk County Celiac Vendor Fair this past Spring and have been frequently checking and waiting for them to be available. (They were sampling them as a new product that wasn't out yet). This is definately one to add to... -
ARCHIVED Deviated Septum- Nose Job? Opinions? Insurance?
jkmunchkin replied to tiffjake's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I actually have a deviated septum and large pollups (sp?) in both nostrils. Basically I barely breathe out of my nose at all, which like you said, isn't that big a deal because well, that's how it's always been, but during the winter it does bother my sinuses a lot. Anywhoo, a couple years ago I looked into getting it fixed and figured I'd get a nose... -
One of the guys that interned with us this past summer, is studying in Jordan for the semester. He is writing a blog while he is there and it's very interesting to read about the culture and views of the people. It kinda gives a bit of a different perspective and insight than what you read in the press or hear on the news. Take a look if you'd like. ...

ARCHIVED Hot Chocolate?
jkmunchkin replied to Daughter-of-TheLight's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The absolute best hot chocolate is just take Hershey's chocolate milk and steam it with the steamer that is attached or a lot of coffee machines (or I think you can buy a steamer thing seperate). Add some whipped cream and yum! -
ARCHIVED Restaurants Near Carnegie Hall, Nyc?
jkmunchkin replied to Dandelion's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Are you looking for someplace specifically with a gluten-free menu? If so, I can't think of anywhere over there that has one. But there are a lot of restaurants in the area that I'm sure could be accomodating. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, I would suggest grabbing a salad at lunch time, put it in the fridge at work, and have that with you. Or... -
I either buy Pillsbury or make my own. Depends on what I'm making.

ARCHIVED Nearly Kfc Chicken (gluten Free Coating Mix)
jkmunchkin replied to pcv's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
YUMMY!!!! This looks great, and really easy Quick question, I've never heard of the Celamix bread mix. What is that? Where do you find it? -
I am getting a new puppy next week, who will be 9 weeks old when we get him. Both my husband and I are gone from about 7:30 / 8:00 am until about 6:30 pm. Does anyone have housebreaking tips when there isn't someone around all day? We are planning on crating him. I am going to take off from work M-W the first week we get him, and my husband...

Unfortunately this is true. There is another (local) message board, that had several complaints from people, but some that were just downright ridiculous like they didn't think the staff was good looking enough. I know when I eat out, regardless of if the restaurant has a gluten free menu, I am still taking a risk. I expect a restaurant that has a gluten...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Graham Crackers A Bust
jkmunchkin replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Unfortunately I don't have a crust reccomendation, but next time you want graham crackers just to snack on or to use for a crust, I highly suggest the ones by The Grainless Baker. They are awesome (as is all their stuff). I've made cheesecake with their graham crackers as a crust a few times and everyone not only raves about the cheesecake, but I've heard... -
ARCHIVED Brown Rice Flour
jkmunchkin replied to Darn210's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use the brown rice flour that Annalisse Roberts reccomends, which is by Authentic Foods and I find it is far superior to all the rice flours I used before. It is pricey, but I think it makes a huge difference in the end product. -

ARCHIVED What Kind Of Pizza Crust Do You Use?
jkmunchkin replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can find it at any regular supermarket. Stop n' Shop, Pathmark, A&P, etc. I'm not positive that it is in the isle with all the other pasta sauces though. Next time I'm in the supermarket I'll take note what isle it's in and let you know. I kinda want to say it's where you find tomato paste or maybe closer to the pasta than the sauces...
