  1. If you're going to order from The Grainless Baker, I would also highly recommend ordering the graham crackers and the cinnamon raisin bread. Those are my other favorites from them.
  2. YAY! I just voted again too. I'm so glad I posted about this!
  3. The Grainless Baker has an incredible mock rye bread. I eat it all the time. Open Original Shared Link
  4. Annalise Robert's book, gluten-free Baking Classics has a wonderful recipe for a crusty Italian bread.
  5. I got this from Delphi. I'm copying and pasting the persons post (as I didn't actually see the show) Today on Martha Stewart, she had seven employees that had entered a contest for the next big idea for the future of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. One of the employees cannot eat gluten and has suggested a magazine for people with allergies and celiac...
  6. The bread mixes by Anna are really great. If you want to get a bread machine I would recommend the Zorjirushi (aka: the Zo). For her flavored bread mixes like banana, pumpkin, etc. you don't need the bread machine. But for regular sandwich bread mixes, the bread machine is recommended and I have to say it comes out great and is so easy. Open Original...
  7. I drink the tea and white hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts all the time and have never had a problem. Actually my cousin's husband owns several Dunkin Donuts. Most locations don't make their own donuts or baked goods. They are made at 1 central location and then shipped to all the others. More than often if there are a few locations within several miles...
  8. Yeah Avon is definately not near Westchester (although a really lovely town). Fortunately both of these restaurants are near Scarsdale. The closer one to Scarsdale is in Ardsley. It's called Golden Wok. I actually just came home a little while ago from getting take out from there. The other one, which is only about 15 minutes (at most) from Scarsdale...
  9. Congrats!! Where in CT are you? There are 2 Chinese restaurants in Westchester (NY) that have very extensive gluten-free menus. One of them is in Rye, so depending where in CT you are, you may be close that one.
  10. Make sure it was not the Kosher version of the Lipton Onion Soup Mix. They make 2 different versions and I believe the Kosher one is not gluten-free.
  11. So odd you mention this. I never had a problem with band aids before, but a couple weeks ago we went to visit my husband's grandma in FL. I recently had my appendix out and when I went to sit by the pool I put band aids over the incisions to reduce scarring from the sun, only to find the band aid had left terrible rashes where the adhesive was. It went away...
  12. This may sound like a dumb suggestion but maybe try a different flavor Lara Bar. I actually had the same reaction when I tried them the first time, but then I started trying different flavors and found a couple I liked (particularly banana). They are the only bars I like so unfortunately I have no other suggestions.
  13. Thanks! There is also this one. Open Original Shared Link
  14. I have a delicious spinach dip I make, based of the Houston's recipe. Whenever I make it people devour it, and say it's the best spinach dip ever. Where it calls for flour, I just use my all purpose mix (from Annalise Roberts formula) that I keep on hand. Open Original Shared Link GO GIANTS!
  15. As far as I know, Nathan's is the only hotdog that has wheat. For soy sauce I would say most of us use San-J Wheat Free Tamari. You can find it at any supermarket, but it may be in the organic isle rather than where the other soy sauces are. I know La Choy is also gluten-free, but most people tend not to like that. For salad dressings, I really like...
  16. The only one I know of is Gluten Free Gourmet Solutions. I haven't tried it yet, but know it is available at Nature's Temptations in Cross River. I couldn't find a site for the product itself, but attached is a link to the store. Maybe they can ship you the bread. I've heard it is good; and have been meaning to try it. 17. Thank you! You said this much better than me. This is exactly what I was getting at.
  18. I agree, this is a matter of opinion (except for the fact that I'm pretty sure if violates a health code bringing your own food into a restaurant, but not positive about that). On that note, I will leave the remainder of my opinions on this topic to myself, because to be honest I find it sad that this is that big a deal.
  19. Last time I checked, it's your choice to eat in the restaurant or not, so a comment like that seems completely unwarranted. I am on this message board, so obviously have the same disease as everyone else here; and obviously understand all the issues and difficulties that come with it. But I am also capable of acting like a mature adult. I will...
  20. Obviously I understand where you are coming from, but I think you need to step back and take a look at this from the restaurants perspective. For starters it is most likely a health code violation for you to bring your own food in. But more so than that, they are in the business of selling food and you're asking to sit at one of their tables, take up a spot...
  21. I just sautee the tilapia in margarine with some salt, pepper and garlic rubbed into it and serve with my favorite veggie and white rice. It's one of my I'm starving, need to eat in 10 minutes meals
  22. Hi Lawrence, You can find the San-J Wheat Free Tamari in many locations around you. I would definately recommend it over the La Choy. I buy it all the time at Whole Foods in White Plains, any of the Mrs. Greens, Stop & Shop in White Plains (by the mall) and the one in North White Plains. But in Stop & Shop it won't be with the rest of the...
  23. I also use baby shampoo for my puppy, but didn't know about diluting it. I'm going to go do that now. Thanks for the tip.
  24. It's very reasonable (and as everyone else said excellent). I'm not sure where you're from, but by NY standards this is moderately priced.
  25. There are 2 Chinese restaurants in Westchester that have gluten free menus, that I love. Ray's Cafe in Rye Brook and Golden Wok in Ardsley. There is a mexican restaurant in Tarrytown, Santa Fe that we go to pretty often (actually went there last night) that is delicious and always extremely helpful. They definately get the gluten thing. My family owns...
