  1. I have actually gone to Cafe Formaggio twice since originally reading this post. Both times I ordered take out pasta dishes, and both times it was delicious.
  2. We love the chocolate cake mix. Actually we have a bbq to go to on Saturday and the 12 yr. old daughter of the host requested I make those "awesome chocolate cupcakes again!" .... the ones she is refering to is from the Namaste mix; and not a celiac.
  3. The absolute best bread is from The Grainless Baker. I particularly love their mock rye bread for sandwiches and the cinnamon raisin bread for breakfast or snack. You don't even need to toast it to eat it. It's great! Open Original Shared Link
  4. Annalise Roberts has an awesome recipe in her book, gluten-free Baking Classics.
  5. Hehe, before I even opened the post I knew you had to be talking about Bistango! I absolutely love it there.
  6. I go to Montauk every year for 4th of July. Gosman's is easy because you can always just get lobster. Eating in town there is a restaurant called MTK, that is always very helpful. I was talking to the owner last year and her son has major food allergies, so she understands the concept of cross contamination. I generally bring some gluten-free muffins...
  7. Does anyone know if the sprinkles at the Haagen Dazs stores are gluten free?
  8. Good to know! Thanks. I take my dog to the vet over there
  9. Wow never heard of this brand. Can you buy their products in stores or do I have to order off their site. I'm willing to try it!
  10. Kinnickinick makes great frozen gluten free waffles. They come in regular flavor and cinnamon brown sugar.
  11. Annalise Roberts has a delicious yellow cake recipe in her book gluten-free Great Bakes.
  12. I 2nd The Grainless Baker. I eat them just as a snack all the time. Or I use them for pie / cheesecake crusts and s'mores! They are one of my must have items.
  13. I found a recipe for some cookies that I want to convert to make gluten free. When I do this I generally substitute with my flour blend (rice flour, potato starch and tapioca starch) and add some xanthum gum from what the recipe says. Does anyone have any tips / recommendations what to do if the recipe calls for cake flour, rather than regular flour. It's...
  14. I've had their cupcakes and they are delicious. I don't know about the shelf life, but I'm sure you can give them a quick call before taking the ride over to find out. As Andrew said, I know they did have some cc issues when they first open, but from what I know they have since been resolved. That was quite some time ago, and I know I have safely eaten...
  15. Oh nice! I'll have to run downstairs to grab an issue and see the rest of the article.
  16. Y'know I didn't post about it, but I had the same thing happen to me not with BLUE, but with HALO! It says right on the bag that it's gluten free, but the 3rd or 4th ingredient in, is barley. Atleast you got a response. I emailed them several weeks ago and haven't heard a thing. My dog is not sensitive to foods, and I just wash my hands after feeding...
  17. I 3rd Conte's. I just came back from the store about an hour ago where I bought more of their ravioli, pierogies and gnocchi.
  18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I believe both Duncan Hines and Pillsbury regular frostings are gluten-free. Just read the labels.
  19. The Namaste chocolate cake mix makes excellent cupcakes. I like mine with vanilla frosting... yum! Also, Annalise Roberts book, gluten-free Baking Classics has awesome cake recipes that can be converted into cupcakes. My personal favorite is the coconut cake. Actually it seems to be a favorite amongst many people (gluten & non-gluten eaters alike)...
  20. 1. When you eat out at a restaurant do you worry about cross contamination? Yes. I worry about it less in a restaurant that has a gluten free menu, because there is the assumption the staff knows all the precautions to take; but I never feel 100% safe. 2. How has being diagnosed with celiac or gluten intolerance affected the way you eat out? Has it...
  21. Those are awesome! They also have great ravioli, stuffed shells and gnocchi. In fact I just had a mix of the cheese ravioli and the spinach ravioli for dinner last night.
  22. I've posted a ton of stuff on the restaurant thread. Just search for NYC restaurants. Not previously in any of my restaurant reccomendations is a new restaurant with gluten free mac n' cheese. The info is: S'Mac 345 East 12th Street, NY, NY 10003 212-358-7912, 212-358-7917 I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard rave reviews and I know they take...
  23. I don't have a recipe, but Conte's makes a delicious gluten-free gnocchi (as well as ravioli, stuffed shells and pierogies).
  24. I use the graham crackers from The Grainless Baker.
