  1. I never tried the GFP bread mixes, but try the Anna's bread mixes. They are really great. You can find them at Wild Oats or on her site, which is Gluten Evolution. You don't need the bread machine for her specialty mixes like the banana or pumpkin breads. Only the "regular" bread, like you would use for a sandwich.
  2. I have the Zo and love it. It's really easy to use and makes perfect bread. I like the Anna's bread mixes.
  3. I saw these at Mrs. Greens the other day and wanted to try them. Delicious! That basically sums it up. LOL! I thought they are very good. Make sure to get the gluten free ones though. I think they also have regular french toast sticks. I'll definately be buying these again.
  4. Open Original Shared Link I'm not sure about the middle section but the 1st part is dead on and the last part is also pretty accurate. you are paleturquoise Your dominant hues are green and blue. You're smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve...
  5. When I was first diagnosed I used the pre-made flour mixtures, and always thought the taste was a bit off and sometimes grainy. I then started making my own flour mixtures following the measurements in Annalise Roberts book. Perfection! It may be pricier to buy all the different flours to make your own, but in my opinion it's the key to making gluten free...
  6. I've never made it from scratch, although I will give it a try one of these days. If I were to make it from scratch I would use the recipe from Annalise Roberts. As for pre-made, I heard Sherri's is pretty good. I tried the gluten-free Bakehouse ones from Whole Foods and thought they were so so. You can find the Sherri's ones at Whole Foods.
  7. I like Glutino pretzels and peanut butter, when I'm really hungry and need a snack to tide me over.
  8. I'm gonna guess it was the bbq. I've never heard of anyone being glutened by smelling flour. Not unless you started licking the bag
  9. First things first. No more cheating! Eating gluten is no longer an option for you. You need to be 100% gluten free. You are only hurting yourself. I know the feeling; I think we all do. Even now I'll go through times were I feel like I'm always eating the same thing (and I eat a ridiculous amount of rice also); but stick to the diet and the more comfortable...
  10. Well the good news is, there are a lot of mainstream products that are gluten free, the bad news is, unfortunately having celiac does mean extra effort. When I was first diagnosed that was one of the hardest things for me to grasp. I hated that eating now took effort, but with time that fades. Now I no longer feel like that. It just takes some getting used...
  11. I don't necessarily know any particular restaurants in Freeport, but I find seafood places are one of the easiest restaurants to successfully have a gluten free meal without to much fuss. I was in Montauk last week and basically at a lot of lobster and baked potatoes It's always really easy to get whatever your fish preference is, and just explain...
  12. OMG, Amazing observation! So right.
  13. This might not really be helpful, but shopping always puts me in a good mood. Specifically if find something on sale that is a really good deal, or that I have had my eye on that was full price. And if you're not a fan of clothes shopping it doesn't have to be clothes... could be home stuff, sports stuff bascially whatever you are in to. And everywhere has...
  14. Hands down, the glutino crackers. They taste like a combination of a ritz and a saltine. Open Original Shared Link I like the Nut Thins just to eat with tuna, but when I want a real cracker, definately the Glutino ones.
  15. Ok 1st let me say I think it's absolutely hysterical that you bought 3 wedding dresses; hysterical in a good way! I love it! It's a genius story. Secondly, the final dress (it is the final dress right? LOL), is gorgeous. Thirdly, your fiance is right. You deserve to have a brand new, beautiful dress for your wedding. And lastly, I'm not sure...
  16. I love her bread mixes. In fact I have a couple in the pantry and was actually planning on making one tonight. In addition to the regular bread mixes, I also love the banana and pumpkin breads. You can either order them from Gluten Evolution or you can find them at Wild Oats. BTW, the regular bread mixes make the best grilled cheese.
  17. I use the B&M vegetarian ones.
  18. LOL!! I was at Risotteria for lunch today. That is awesome that you can just get a slice, and not expensive either. I mean yeah more than a regular slice, but that certainly isn't bad. How does the pizza compare to Risotteria's?
  19. I love the Namaste chocolate cake mix. I've made chocolate cake from scratch too, but I actually like this mix even better. You can find it at Wild Oats, random health food stores or www.namastefoods.com
  20. That is sooooooooo cool!!!! You have to promise to send lots of pictures. I love it! And great name.
  21. Mines not a nickname either, but I got glutened on Sunday and I mentioned to my hubby this morning that since then I've been having occassional shooting pains in my hands and jaw. Joking around he asked if I had stuck my hand in a box of Cheerios. LOL!!
  22. I'll definately be thinking of you and your dad. Keep us posted on his recovery.
  23. LOL!!! It must be ridiculously hot but that is really one of the cutest things ever. It's really hot and humid in NY. Definately a pony tail day
  24. I've heard it's very good. I actually wanted to go there on Sunday, but unfortunately I got glutened at brunch so I never made it there. If you go let me know how it is.
  25. I tried these once at some event where WF had samples and I agree, they are really great. They taste exactly like an oatmeal cookie.
