ARCHIVED Ensure High Calcium Chocolate
mouse replied to Norris's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is gluten free. I have some in the frig now. I have had it on and off for the last year and never have gotten sick. And I get sick within a few minutes. There was a time in the past summer that I had to get some weight on me fast and I drank two every morning. OOPs, mine is the high protein one. But, I would assume that the Calcium one is the same... -
ARCHIVED Medic Alert Bracelets
mouse replied to penguin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just ordered a custom one, but I am also allergic to a drug that I do not want administered in any amounts. I put Celiac and the drug on it. The drug makes me want to swallow my tongue. Pete, Oliver looks like a wonderful statesman and a diplomat. He has such intelligence in his eyes. -
What a WONDERFUL and THOUGHTFUL friend. You are very fortunate.

ARCHIVED Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
mouse replied to francelajoie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What about all the parents that take their kids into the super market? They buy beer, wine and hard stuff. That is the most stupid thing I have heard of. -
ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Breads
mouse replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I buy the white Italian tapioca rice bread. I also buy the raisen bread for french toast and feed that to the whole family (the gluten eaters ). I love their cinnamon rolls. It is a flat charge of $10 for shipping up to $200 purchase. So, I try to have plenty of freezer space when I order. I also buy the hot dog buns, but I personally do not like the... -
ARCHIVED Tarter Sause
mouse replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Best Foods tarter sauce. I think Kraft has one also and they will list wheat if it in the product. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Beef Jerky?
mouse replied to angielackner's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat Pacific Gold, Natural Flavor. -
Very thought provoking! I remember the days when I could go completely nuts with my temper. At the time that I was totally losing it in speech and actions, I would think "why am I doing this and stop it". But, I could not stop it until the episode was over. I would not hit people but would break things when I was at my worst. Those days are now gone...

ARCHIVED Ordering Gluten Free In A Restaurant
mouse replied to kari's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thank you Judy. I will google them in the morning and if I have a problem, I will PM you. We don't really travel that much anymore as I just don't have the energy. But, when we do go to Las Vegas, I will now request a toaster in my room. They already give me a frig. That way I can have toast in the AM. I also thought that these would be great for a... -

ARCHIVED My Doctor Diagnosed Me Without A Biopsy?
mouse replied to BeccaM's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed without a biopsy. I had not ingested ANYTHING (including water, which I threw up) in the nine days prior to the blood test. Totally dehydrated and massive weight loss. The month prior to the test I had very little sustenance. When the light bulb went off in my GP's head for celiac disease, I probably had very little gluten in my body.... -

ARCHIVED Good Books On Eating Out Safely
mouse replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
When I go to the Outback, I ALWAYS order the gluten-free shrimp appetiser (SO GOOD) and have them put the garlic toast on a side plate for my husband. I can have a salad at home, but the appetiser would be more work then I want to expend . Just remember that if the Outback waitstaff does not seem to know what you are addressing, then just politely ask... -
ARCHIVED Good Books On Eating Out Safely
mouse replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
I use the Gluten Free Dining Guide that I bought from the Celiac.com store. I like the size of it as it fits into all of my purses. I don't carry real large purses and so this is always there. This guide is the one that helped me to venture out for eating. I also add places to it that I find in this forum. Glad your first dining expierence went well... -
ARCHIVED Speech Problems - Following Through With Sentences
mouse replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes to all of your statements. Except the last two would now have a different answer. I no longer think that I have permanent brain damage from the malnutrition and I have seen noticable improvement recently. I just wish it would speed up . At my age I can't wait forever - senility might arrive first I would think that the recovery time would depend... -
ARCHIVED Mac And Cheese? Other Comfort Foods
mouse replied to sillyyak's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Chicken Fried Steak. Oh YUM. Please post the recipe. -
ARCHIVED Success With Pastry Dough
mouse replied to Diosa's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I agree that she should sell them. Especially to some of the people here that don't have the energy to make wonderful things like the Cornish Pasties. My mouth is watering, YUM. When I make pizza pockets (got the recipe from someone here), I use parchment cooking paper. It comes real easy off of that. I think that anytime my dough (what little I do... -
I saw the Neuro-Opthamolgist today. It was such a long drive, but well worth it. Of course my hubby had to drive and then twiddle his thumbs eating breakfast somewhere (poor baby). He really does not mind-thank goodness. But, the news was very good. After a couple hours of many different tests, the majority that I had never had before, the doctor gave...

ARCHIVED Speech Problems - Following Through With Sentences
mouse replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Lisa, I have been there and it has improved. I still am not to where I was, but it has improved! I still have the same problems Karen has, but the ones in the beginning were so much worse. I felt like all of that gluten had eaten my brain . I figure if it takes 5 years or longer for a full recovery, then my brain is going to take the same time. After... -
ARCHIVED Ordering Gluten Free In A Restaurant
mouse replied to kari's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I also frequent the same restaurants and the staff knows that I tip much larger then the normal tip. If the wait staff has to do even more for me then the usual because the kitchen has screwed up (the wait staff usually always catch's it) then I tip even larger then my much larger . I appreciate that they are looking out for me and they should be compensated... -
I have been having vision problems for the last 2 1/2 years. They could not find anything wrong. Then late last summer it got worse and I saw the optomologist and he said it was dry eye related to my Morphia Scleroderma. Then 3 weeks ago my blurred vision got VERY WORSE and the optomolgist still said it was related to the scleroderma. Today I saw my Morphia...

ARCHIVED New Mcd Statement -- Fries Are gluten-free
mouse replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thank you Richard for getting this information for us. I personally am going to let this rest now. There are no guarantees in life about anything - least of all food. It is up to the inidividual what chances they are willing to take. Well, I eat at McD's again. Yes. not as often as before (which was not that often), but they are a life saver when on... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
mouse replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
No matter how safe the menu options are - we also have a threat of cross contamination. I personally choose to take that chance. But, I try hard to be selective on where I dine so that I minimize my risks. I also speak out when dining. I do not want to be a prisoner and never know the joys of dining out with friends. Nothing better then a meal I don... -
Thank you for your answer. I will take my own Ranch on the next visit. My husband loved the place as he is a sports nut. Me, I just love to eat . I will mark the Buffalo Chips on my notes.
