  1. Clark- You could look into vegan wines (i.e., they won't have eggs, casein, etc.). I discovered them this summer/fall as I was reacting to multiple foods. Open Original Shared Link has a list. Most are "specialty" wines, but are some that are mainstream, including some of the yellowtails. That being said---I don't know if they use corn as processors...
  2. There have been many, many threads about McDonald's fries. Here is an article about it. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-01106423369.76 I also suggest doing a search on this board and reading some of the discussions ... here is one of them: https://www.celiac.com/index.php?s...mp;hl=mcdonalds The GIG has worked with McDonald's to test...
  3. I am an extremely sensitive Celiac, and any gluten food gets wiped into the trash can with a papertowel/napkin. Gets rinsed well, and either washed or put in the dishwasher. If it goes in the DW, it gets rinsed a little extra. It seems to work well for us.
  4. ANGIE! Congratulations! Wooo hooo! That is such exciting news---and definitely a great Christmas present! I can't really follow that up Everyone's gifts sound wonderful---just what everyone wanted . I got lots of wonderful goodies: a camel colored long pea coat, nice shelves for our dining room, a new clock, plane tix to my grandma's for Christmas...
  5. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-13106415153.29 this may help some. many alcohols are gluten free because they are distilled. happy new years
  6. Cassidy, I have been reading along and I think that everyone has brought up some great points---at the very least, have provided some thought provoking discussions! I don't have any world-changing advice to give, but I wanted to add my congratulations for your upcoming addition to your family! Also, I am impressed by your willingness to define boundaries...
  7. Dr. Green discusses its association with Celiac in the book listed in my signature. I was tested for it but do not have it. CanadianKaren on this board has it, also. There is a great support forum at Open Original Shared Link that I would highly recommend. Some people who have it are Celiacs, but some don't have "true" Celiac but still can't tolerate...
  8. patti, thank you for posting this. it goes to show that the hands down best way is to know for yourself, and not trust if a label of "gluten-free" is there or not. :)
  9. luvmydogs, the insurance issue is usually only for private insurance (i.e., not through an employer). I had Insurance #1 when I was dx'ed, moved/changed insurance to insurance #2, and just changed jobs and i'm on insurance #3, all through employer plans (i think mine have all been some variation of a bc/bs plan), and i have not had problems with any. so...
  10. Hey Britt, Welcome to the board! We are happy you have found us. This is a great resource!!!! My vote goes to trying the diet. See how you do. You won't know necessarily if you have Celiac Disease or non-Celiac gluten intolerance, but in terms of day to day life, the treatment is the same: a strict gluten free diet. I was dx'ed through traditional...
  11. Elizabeth, I can relate (to the cat issue, not the husband issue, but i'll throw in my vote for "he's being unreasonable.") We have two cats that were 6 years old when we got them (2.5 years ago). They used to keep me up all night long and it was awful...but I was a baby and I love them so much and didn't want to be mean. My mom, ever wise, told me that...
  12. Sweetfudge, I hope your husband feels better soon...please post and let us know! Patti-you poor thing. I hope you and hubby feel better soon! Like you need this! Whatever this cold thing is, I got sick with it Christmas day and am battling it, too. I can sympathize. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery to all! xoxo
  13. Just wanted to add that I think that we have ALL had those days/periods of times where we have felt like you. It is no fun. I hope that this board provides you the support and resources you need so that you won't feel so down. Anything in particular we can do to help? Looking for a good quick recipe for something in particular? (I was diagnosed at age...
  14. Heidi, Wow, girl! Congratulations on your pregnancy how exciting for your family!!!!!!! I love energ's pretzels...I am actually eating them right now. And whole foods pizza crust (I use it for everything, not just pizza) is great, as well as Trader Joe's french rolls (they are really really big, so I slice them to make little thin slices....into like...
  15. monica, Merry Christmas! I'm sorry that you are having a glutening...ugh I haven't eaten yorks in awhile, but here was a point where I was living off them for my "sweet/cookie" type treat after going gluten free. They were safe at the time. I don't have any here to check. one of my worse reactions ever was at a chipotle's....right before christmas...
  16. Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas to my friends on the board! And yes, Karen, I think some of us do....because we cherish our friendship with you, as well xoxoxoox
