    Sonja, Thanks for posting and keeping us up to date! Happy to hear that it sounds like you have found part of your problems. Keep working toward being 100% gluten free---only then can your body truly heal and fully regain its strength. I hope you find the other problems out soon, though, too.     Make sure that your doctor runs the FULL Celiac panel (which includes the tTG test) Many doctors only run one or two of the labs, because they are not up to date on the Celiac research. Ask him specifically if the one he is running includes tTG. Good luck!

    As mentioned above, just having the genes does not mean your child definitively has Celiac. About 30-40% of the American population has these genes...but not everyone has Celiac. Make sure that during the biopsies, your doctor takes multiple biopsies in multiple sites. Although its still not perfect and can certainly miss damage, it is certainly better...

    the combination of feeling better already, plus the enterolab results and gene testing indicate very highly that gluten and other foods are causing problems for you. You may have other issues, however (I can't comment on the pancreas, etc). You do not need a doctor's permission to start and maintain a gluten free diet!

    Sweetfudge, As a result of the 2006 Food Labeling Law (America), food that has any of the 8 main allergens in it, including wheat, must be disclosed. Caramel color, although rarely, can apparently be made with wheat. Unless it states that it has wheat in it, and lists wheat as an allergen (It would say, "CONTAINS: WHEAT" below the list of ingredients...

    Sweetfudge, Congratulations! Woo hoo! That is great! I can't really think of too many other things. If you eat make sure your desk is safe from crumbs (if other people eat there). If it is a joint fridge, make sure that your stuff is clearly labeled (I once came in to find someone squeezing my flip top mayo, hidden in the back, onto their sandwich)...
