  1. Lisa, Never apologize for asking ANYTHING on this board. We all have strange lives so its ok---we really do understand Celiac is strange and odd things can happen, esp in the beginning. So while it might not be 100% normal, its not out of the realm of possibility at ALL. Are you eating out at all? How well do you think you are doing, gluten...
  2. Lauren, toooooo funny No pressure at all! I used to be able to eat out, but over the past 2.5 years I have grown so ridiculously sensitive, I honestly don't know why I bother. I got glutened from PF Changs this weekend...I keep thinking I'll be ok....I never eat out and then I moved here and thought it was worth a try. Nope, I'm still a raging Celiac...
  3. Josh, I just moved to Fairfax...PM me if you'd like! Laura
  4. pug, I'm happy you thought the book was great..I keep putting it on the shelf but I keep taking it back out to reference all the time! I might as well just keep it out! I second the vote for Whole Foods pizza crusts....wow, how did i live for 2 years gluten free before discovering them?!!!!!!!!
  5. Wendy, Happy to have you here!! This board is such a great place, and you'll almost always find someone in a similar boat, for better or for worse Ask away...we are here to help! And read, read, read. A good way to keep up on recent posts is to click on "view new posts" near the top....that can give you an overview of current topics. Or, click on the...
  6. Lauren- I live in Northern VA. I have gotten sick at every single Outback I've ever gone to (haven't even bothered with the one up here, as I just moved here 2 months ago)...but I might have to come up and visit your Outback when you are working sometime!!!!! Laura
  7. That really does sound delicious----thanks for sharing that! I will have to try that, I think!!!!
  8. pug, we are happy you are here and learned about Celiac Disease. i am sure you must be overwhelmed-especially without the symptoms. although it is tough, i am so happy you learned. once you go gluten free and stay on a strict gluten free diet, your risk of many cancers and other problems decreases. Its often the undiagnosed that have higher rates of problems...
  9. Jaten, thanks for telling us of your good experience. I think I might try that one, Nini!

  11. Donna, so happy to hear about your wonderful cruise!
  12. Angst, "Celiac Sprue" is kind of an "older" term....most people today refer to it as Celiac Disease (esp on this board) or C.D. (hence the confusion with CS) Laura
  13. Just so you know, according to the FDA food labeling law that took effect in 2006, ALL labels from US companies (which are most, unless they are specialty asian or other foods) MUST declare if they have any of the 8 main allergens, which includes wheat. Doesn't identify gluten per se, but it WILL list if there is wheat---by law. Many companies, like Kraft...
  14. I dont notice a difference. Interesting that some do!
  15. until your body fully heals, you can react to lots of things, because your body isn't functioning correctly and you may be malnourished in certain vitamins/minerals. going gluten free doesn't magically make things better overnight, unfortunately give it time, hang in there, and keep on the strict gluten free diet. you will have ups and downs for potentially...
  16. yep, looks safe to me. enjoy life makes gluten free casein free (etc) choc chips that are delicious, too!
  17. It mainly depends on if you want a firm diagnosis or not (not what the doctor wants!!!). if you want a potential diagnosis, your son would have to be eating gluten for a few months to have accurate tests. even then, they aren't 100%. if you dont want the dx, and the positive dietary response is enough of an answer...then that is your answer. Make...

  20. Hey girl, No joke, last night as I was signing off my computer, I thought about you and wondered how you were doing. And here you are!!! We ALL make silly mistakes...everyone takes a little bit different amount of time. For me it was a roller coaster...from not thinking about it, to worrying about it, to being so paranoid, to learning, to "normalizing...
  21. Have a happy and blessed Hanukah (and yes, what is the difference in spelling?)
  22. Guhlia-yeah, you are right...i want to say it started last fall? does that sound right? plus, it could also be a mistake...somehow it didn't get added (the gluten-free label) on this one. Or they might have changed suppliers, etc. many, many reasons. the best way to know is to read the ingredients....because if it can be a mistake (omission) it could certainly...
  23. I like the names you have picked out. Definitely go with your "gut". (the problem with asking someone like your m-i-l is that if you don't pick the name she likes.....)
