Julie, There have been many, many threads about McDonald's fries. Here is an article about it. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-01106423369.76 I also suggest doing a search on this board and reading some of the discussions ... here is one of them: Open Original Shared Link The GIG has independently tested them and they are safe in terms...

Shai- I don't blame you about the epipen! I was having health issues this summer and fall and I was reacting to all but 8 foods...it was a nightmare. I can symphathize with you on that. Corn to me was the kicker....I had no idea it was in everything. It makes gluten look like a cakewalk!!!!!! There is a neat corn free cookbook that Living Without Magazine...

According to this list, french fries at Wendy's are not on their gluten free list. Open Original Shared Link but according to this list: Open Original Shared Link the ingredients are safe, it will depend on if they use a dedicated fryer.

Hey Rene, Well, regardless of where you work, one month in the life of a Celiac/gluten intolerant person....although it seems like a LIFETIME!!!....is really a very short period of time for healing to occur and your body to start feeling better. It took me months to return anywhere near normal. So the restaurant may not be the problem....it may just be...

ARCHIVED Follow Up Blood Work - Still Bad :(
happygirl replied to Cam's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I also would think twice about eating out. It sounds like your daughter is extremely sensitive...I am like that, too The only times I get glutened are when I eat out....even at gluten-free restaurants, and places where we know the staff and manager, have talked to them, etc. It is usually through cross contamination, because I always double check... -
I'm not familiar with that dressing...I take it you ate out at this diner? Although I can't answer the question about the dressing....if it was safe, you were probably glutened through cross contamination if all of the ingredients in everything else (was everything else verified to be safe?) was safe. Cross contamination is a main issue at restaurants...

ARCHIVED Movie Popcorn...is It Safe?
happygirl replied to Sissy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just like other processed foods, it will vary by manufacturer. Some might be safe, and others may not. #1 Rule is not to eat anything unless you know the ingredients yourself. My best advice if you want to eat it, is go up before then, at a time when they aren't busy, ask to speak to a manager, and see the ingredients. All that being said....most... -
ARCHIVED New To Celiac......
happygirl replied to daltons's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome to the board! We are happy you have found this site...is it by far the best resource out there. Are you looking for specific products ... that might be easier to get you started. Ingredients change at any point, so its hard to put out "lists" per se. Reading ingredient labels will be the best thing you can learn to do, because then you can look... -

ARCHIVED Is Wish Bone Italian Dressing Glutan Free?
happygirl replied to Electra's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most labels of mainstream products that are gluten free do not say they are gluten free. There are no guidelines for saying something is gluten free. Labeling laws are there for a reason, and it doesn't matter how the wheat is there, if it is there it has to be listed! In time, I'm sure that more companies will begin to do that as Celiac awareness raises... -

ARCHIVED I'm Actually Hoping That I Have Celiac Disease.
happygirl replied to Woolygimp1207's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just because its not obvious gluten doesn't mean that it doesn't have gluten in it.....gluten is in everything You also want the bloodwork run for Celiac...the FULL panel. You can find it listed on Dr. Alessio Fasano's website at www.celiaccenter.org and click on "FAQs". He is an expert in Celiac. Before I was dx'ed with Celiac, I had such horrible... -
I just noticed your signature: allergy to wheat/oats, milk, eggs, corn, yeast, tree nuts, turkey, fish, seeds, mold, dust, dander, pollens, soy and other legumes Son: allergy to milk, corn, beans/legumes if you can't have legumes....isn't peanut a legume? Some places use peanut oil. if you are allergic to corn, you will need to know if their salt is...

Check the websites of all the big chains and they list information on there (BK, ChickFILA, McDs, Wendys). However, there is always a risk of cross contamination, esp with the oil (using it to fry other things). Some places say they never fry anything else, but people have reacted. So, if you get sick, its not your imagination Good luck.

Thanks. I am confused as to how they tell what my problem is if my TSH, T3 and T4 came back normal in the spring. (I just started with a new doctor and he ran the autoimmune). How do they tell if its hyper or hypo? See my signature about Celiac.

ARCHIVED Is Wish Bone Italian Dressing Glutan Free?
happygirl replied to Electra's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Miss Roben's makes a mix that you then bake yourself. Corn starch is safe. Please look at the lists on celiac.com so that you can learn about some of the safe ingredients. All companies will list wheat. Kraft and Unilever are two companies that always list any gluten source. McCormick is also good about it. There are more, though. -

ARCHIVED Elisabeth Hasselbeck Mentions She Is Gluten-free
happygirl replied to wolfie's topic in Publications & Publicity
She's mentioned it on there before, usually just in passing, including something about not giving her daughter gluten yet because she is so young. Thanks for sharing! -
I got some blood work back today and some of the ones that I had questions about are my autoimmune thyroid: thyroglobulin AB: 62 (less than 20 is normal) thryoid peroxidase AB: 62 (less than 35 is normal) I didn't have my tsh/t3/t4 run this time because they are ALWAYS normal....so what does this mean? Please help! Thanks so much, Laura
