  1. Stress has been shown in studies to weaken the immune system. They did a study on the common cold, and showed that stress was the biggest factor in whether or not people got sick when exposed to cold viruses. If you expand on that, it would make sense that this would apply to gluten. I know that stress makes everything worse for me, and makes me feel run...
  2. Here is a good long thread on gluten-free cat food, page two has a list. Open Original Shared Link HTH Elonwy
  3. I have never had a problem with the seaweed salad, but I ask everywhere I go, since that is not something that is super specific on exactly how it should be made, everyone does it differently. Ok, the Teppanyaki rice has chicken broth. That makes sense. The sushi rice is sushi rice with rice vinegar, sounds like, so the sushi rice is most likely fine....
  4. Kinnikinnick has a dedicated facility, so cross-contamination isn't an issue with them. Thier products would be the very last on my suspect list. Elonwy
  5. One of the things that was hardest to let go of was Subway salads. I loved them so much. Way too many bread crumbs everywhere though. I went in with new eyes and gave a good look at the preparation area, and after watching them make a couple sandwiches and watching how stuff just got flung everywhere I walked out, and haven't been back in a subway since....
  6. If so he's got some serious frequent flier miles going on I can't believe how happy I am. He's also a great dancer (ballroom), smart, my cats love him.... I keep pinching myself. Elonwy
  7. My lethargy and muscle pain get so bad that nothing but curling up in bed really helps. I get horrific muscle cramps, so working out just makes it hurt worse, since its not a "normal" cramp. Wish it helped. Elonwy
  8. Some of you may remember a post I did a while back about whether or not I was over-reacting to my new bf being horrendously insensitive to the whole gluten thing. I wasn't. We broke up right after that, it being a mutual thing, and him being as bothered by the food thing as me, and basically stating he couldn't deal with it. Fun huh? The good news: I started...
  9. Sushi Snob is going speak up now. If they are using chicken stock, or anything other than rice vinegar (plain, no flavors) then its not sushi. Sushi rice made with chicken stock is absurd. I have had restaurant get confused and say "you can't have this, it has vinegar", then they show me the vinegar, and its just rice. I eat alot of sushi, but I am lucky...
  10. To be safe, since it all depends on which screener you get ( I had a lighter with me from the US to Canada, to Europe and back to Canada and only then did they notice and I couldn't get it back to the US) I would make sure at least some of your food is prepackaged and unopened. Those little cracker barrel cheese or kraft cheese bites ( individual cracker...
  11. Basically, thats what your body can't absorb being flushed out. As you continue to take them it'll get more normal, usually. Mine turned my pee green for a while. That was interesting. Elonwy
  12. Our xmas party was a cooking class. I announced that I would show up, but wouldn't eat or cook. They changed the menu so that everything was gluten free except for the dessert and the bread. The place the class was at even went and bought gluten-free chicken broth for the rissotto. It was so cool, especially since I've only been working here a month. Isn...
  13. You're good on the tuna, as stated. There are two things in the mayo that raise flags, the "vinegar" and "natural flavors". I would call them and ask, they have no info on their web site and I have no info on them in any of my gluten-free Smartlists for anything other than the margarine. Elonwy
  14. Wow, good to know. My info is from April or so, and they said it was gluten-free. Thank you for that info.
  15. I've never had a problem with them. I know that Jose Cuervo mix is safe. I tend to not go all fancy with them, I stick to the standard flavor, a little wary of the super-crazy ones. I do make them at home sometimes, but I use frozen fruit instead of mix. Elonwy I forgot to say, I've never had a bartender not let me read ingredients on a bottle either...
  16. So, Weird Fish on 18th and Mission has a soy based batter and dedicated fryers. I know I'm excited, since Fish and Chips is something I've bemoaned the loss of. Had to share the news Elonwy
  17. The newest one, that I use even in speaking these days, how sad is that, is SO for "significant other". It gets sad when chat speak starts working its way into spoken language. As for spelling, Firefox now has spell check built into the browser. So when you misspell something, it puts a red line under it like Word. Another reason to use Firefox. Elonwy
  18. Packaged curry can contain wheat. Fish sauce can also have wheat in it, not ALL fish sauce is safe. I love Thai food, but I always have my dining card when i go. www.triumphdining.com My issue with Thai is I'm also allergic to egg, which they put in everything and I often forget to ask for no egg. I love Rad Nai with Spicy Mint, I have them make it without...

    ARCHIVED The Melting Pot

It very much depends on which location. In Southern California I got a resounding "no" from both locations, and corporate pretty much said "don't come in" but alot of people on the East coast seem to have had good luck. Things are different up here in the Bay Area though, I might see if there is one here. Elonwy
  20. Apple skin is really high in fiber, if you eat enough of them it can give you D and that's in someone with a normal digestive system, so its very possible you're reacting to the high fiber content. I know that I had to watch how much fiber I got for the first six months or so, cause too much fiber would get my tummy agurglin. Elonwy
  21. Ditzy Sweet Cheeks. There is a pattern here. Elonwy
  22. Some vinegars are ok, unless you specifically can't have any vinegars. Heinz ketchup is just fine, and so is Best Foods. As for Cereals and Breads in a regular grocery store... probably not going to happen. Unless you like Cocoa Puffs, but I personally can't stand sugary cereals. Kinnikinnick is my fav bread, they can be ordered online or found at Whole...
  23. Antibiotics make me really sick when I have to take them, though the reaction depends on what kind they are. I only take them when I absolutly have to. Some of them make me sick to my stomach, and others make me really tired and I feel run-down. I try to eat yogurt when I'm taking them, that really seems to help alot. Elonwy
  24. Yeah I have an apartment that I move into next weekend, so that will be fixed soon. Defnitly too soon to be living together. I just want to get back to the point where I actually want to kiss him again. -E
  25. So I've been seeing this guy, and I really like him. We were long distance for a while, and now I've moved up here for my new job and have been staying with him temporarily. Hes sweet and cute and nice. Theres one problem. He eats gluten filled stuff constantly. He lives on junk food. He's always snacking, and isn't too careful where the crumbs go. After...
