  1. thanks for the recipe, I have SO MANY potatoes left from last week's holiday. does anyone has any suggestions to sub out the dairy?
  2. when I realized how serious this all was and went gluten free, so did my kitchen and my family. they want gluten? they can get it out. period. I had 11 people for holiday last week, 100% gluten free Seder, no one noticed, although they all had to know. all they could say was how delish it all was.... modestly speaking of course.
  3. oh no, I hope you are okay. I know how careful you are.
  4. A few weeks ago I got a prescription and took it to my Walgreens on the corner that I had been using for years. I asked the pharmacist to check on gluten-free status since it was something new to me. he wouldn't check, told me it was crazy since no meds had gluten. he told me I would have to get the meds then check myself. I couldn't speak. I asked...
  5. I haven't baked gluten-free yet, I really didn't bake before. but I will say that all my food is fresh and whole, no preservatives or anything out of a box now. it's really a beautiful way to eat.
  6. This actually did happen to me at first, then it settled down.
  7. I feel like it most definitely affects my thinking, I get total brain fog
  8. Yes, thanks. I should have been more clear, sorry. I bought all gluten free stuff for passover, and made everything here gluten-free as well. she took all my food home, so she is basically eating gluten-free this week.
  9. My daughter is due for her routine checkup, she is actually 25 today. I just realized she keeps Passover, which means she isn't eating gluten this week. the holiday is over on Monday. when do you think it would be safe to have her blood test done. she wants to include the celiac testing since everything happened with me, and she has some other conditions...
  10. I had been to 2 GI docs, 2 primary docs and my endocrinologist for answers about my recurring nausea, dizziness and acid reflux. I was told by all of them after countless tests that nothing was wrong with me. then I went to an allergy doctor who reviewed my records and did allergy and blood testing on me. she diagnosed Celiac and in addition, found out...
  11. I wouldn't eat their pizza either for all the same reasons. check into local pizza places. I found one locally that has a separate oven, separate utensils, pans, toppings, everything. and the gluten-free area is way in the back of the pizza place. Unfortunately, I have since been diagnosed with dairy allergy, so it kind of took the fun out of the place...
  12. Thanks so much. I was thinking of stocking up now while it's available.
  13. My whole foods had the matza at $5 a box, I thought that was pretty reasonable. also, the gefilte fish I found was LESS expensive than my old gluteny brand. I was happily amazed.
  14. Thanks so much!
  15. YES!! I just found this at whole foods. I was also able to find gluten-free matza ball mix, gluten-free cake and macaroons, gluten-free gefilte fish.. it was a gluten-free kosher for passover party!!! I am so excited, I am making a completely gluten-free seder, I have other people bringing wine and fruit.
  16. I know this has been written about before, but I guess I just need confirmation as I can't get in touch with the companies. I never drink wine but need to use it for Passover recipes. I wrote to Mogen David about their wine earlier in the week, and got no answer. I tried to call Manischewitz and they don't answer the phone. Are these wines gluten-free...
  17. thanks! the rice cakes are Lundberg, allegedly gluten-free facility I will try plain rice
  18. So I wish this journey was as easy as just cutting gluten out of my diet. I also found out I am allergic to dairy and soy. so even with that, just cut them out, don't eat them. that's what I thought then. well, no, not that easy now. I guess I am super sensitive, hooray. when I first started after my diagnosis's I had no problem cutting these things...
  19. I would bring my own food and I wouldn't let them near it.
  20. Diana, I am so glad you went and were able to share in the celebration. I am also glad it was mild. I was thinking about you and wondering how this played out, hope you keep feeling better.
  21. welcome, it's nice to meet you
  22. I got this off their website: Contains gluten free wheat starch which complies with the internationally agreed criteria for gluten free foods so suitable for a gluten free diet (Codex Alimentarius). I wouldn't eat it. just saying.
  23. so happy for you! thanks for sharing.

wow, this sounds like you have it down to a science. I went away 2 weeks ago and packed similar to this, I took my breakfast oatmeal and just got hot water and banana at the buffet in the hotel. I also brought indiv packs of tuna and some udi's bagels, kind bars, fruits, nuts. I found a dedicated gluten free restaurant and had both dinners there. it can...
  25. I'm glad you were able to work it out I feel for you for how hard this is. I went to a friend's house who was frying up a load of potato pancakes. she had made several dozen of them, there was flour flying everywhere. after she was done, she told me she was going to fry up a few for me without flour. I tried to explain to her why I couldn't eat them....
