  1. I read over some old threads about Passover, and l looked for some items in my store. I was thrilled to find everything Passover friendly. we are doing it at my house and it is going to be a 100% gluten-free Passover, I am so happy!! for people coming to my house I am asking one family to bring wine, the the other to bring fresh fruit.
  2. I have eaten at Chipolte and was happy that I felt great afterwards. the last few times my tummy was a little off, not feeling glutened but just off. I was then diagnosed with soy allergy and almost everything has soy there, so I had to give it up. with no other allergies you should be fine.
  3. Diana, sorry I didn't realize being in a restaurant was an issue, even if you're not eating. is it the smell?
  4. I would also go and just eat first. don't do anything to call attention to the fact you are not eating as much as possible. I went to an out of town wedding last weekend. I ate before the rehearsal dinner, and before the wedding. no one noticed I wasn't eating. I believe people are more caught up in what they are eating and doing. of course your family...
  5. sorry, barley is one of the three primary gluten-based grains
  6. ain't it the truth? I particularly like in the first on where she asked something like "how can you do this to me?"
  7. mbrookes, my kitchen is gluten free, no shared equipment here. if husband wants gluten, he goes out and gets it. my family is great about that.
  8. Gemini, thanks, I do intend to keep working at it Cavernio, I strongly disagree here, socializing may revolve around eating out, at work, with friends, wherever, but just because eating out is so common to our lives, doesn't mean we have to. I take a cooler wherever I go. I go to certain restaurants with my food, I refuse to eat something that may get...
  9. thanks for your responses all, I am still navigating my way through this.
  10. thanks Karen. I guess what started confusing me was the stuff that is labeled with info like "made in a facility that also processed wheat" and other labeling like that. my husband saw Muellers pasta gluten-free and wanted to get it for me. when I read the label it says made in a facility...... so I didn't get it. he said just try it and see if you get...
  11. sorry Karen, I didn't mean anything negative. I am just jealous that I have so many issues and can't eat the meal you posted about. I am glad you found something that works for you
  12. I have pretty much given up eating out and make my own foods. I have a question out of curiosity. When you buy things like marinara sauce, or the like, do you only buy things that are labeled gluten-free? when checking the label, if there doesn't appear to be any offending ingredients, would you buy it? Spaghetti sauce was on sale at my store, buy one get...
  13. totally agree, if you find any gluten-free DF SF good meals, please post!!
  14. Gemini, I just want to say your posts have helped me since I arrived here last year. they made me realize I am driving the bus of my health, and if I want to feel better I have to figure out what was making me sick. no one else could do that for me or help. thankfully, I am doing great now, and rarely have to cancel plans or become fearful to make them. ...
  15. I have only been gluten free since November, and I felt better right away. I was noticing nausea here and there though, turned out I am also allergic to dairy and soy. so you might try eliminating suspicious foods one at a time and see how you do. I eat only whole foods that I make myself, it's totally not worth it to eat any other way for me.
  16. every Sunday I make meatloaf to eat for the week. I also make a bunch of sweet potatoes. this makes for easy things to grab quickly. I have always used Gillians breadcrumbs, as they are gluten-free DF and SF which I need. I got sick last week after the meatloaf, and thought maybe I had gotten the meat in a different store, Walmart Supermarket. so this...
  17. I have Central Diabetes Insipidus and would be happy to help you with anything you'd like to know. You should go to an endocrinologist for a diagnosis. They will perform a water deprivation test to diagnose you, probably in the hospital. it's not bad at all, sounds worse. I take DDAVP to replenish the hormone that my body stopped making that is the hormone...
  18. all I can say is Oh My Goodness!!! this place is fantastic! we were in Philly for a family wedding this weekend, my cousin assured me all meals would be okay for me. when we got there she looked at me and said, oh my, I forgot. I pulled up Find Me Gluten Free on my phone and found this place. dedicated facility, the staff isn't allowed to bring in gluten...
  19. I totally agree here. I was going to go through testing which would have been quite expensive. I am either celiac or ncgs. I gave up gluten too soon, I hadn't found this forum in time. anyway, my doctor believes I am celiac, but I was still getting stomach issues. I went to an allergist and was diagnosed traditionally with dairy and soy allergy. I understand...
  20. thanks, I just bought them today, are still frozen. I figured I would take them with me. I just called the hotel, no fridges in the room. so they'd be out till Sunday.
  21. I found this thread while searching for an answer to a question I have. hope someone can help me. I am going away this weekend and want to bring a package of udis bagels I just got. I don't know if there will be a fridge in my hotel room. how long do you think they could stay out for? thanks in advance
  22. I just started trying to figure out how I am going to go on a trip I was planning to Israel in June. I started looking for food I could keep with me in a backpack. I found individual pouches of tuna, pouches of almond butter and crackers. it's a start. also, kind bars are good to keep with you.
  23. I get the unsweetened Silk Almond Milk. slowly my family switched over to it too on their own. it makes the best smoothies with fresh or frozen fruit.
