  1. I am allergic to soy and dairy, so it is especially hard to find anything prepared, but it can be done. you just have to have expert skills in label reading, it gets easier, believe me. try Enjoy Life products if you are wanting cookies, chocolate, etc. they are pretty good, just expensive as you can imagine.
  2. Prayers out to her family and everyone on this board, such a huge loss. She always was so encouraging, and will be missed tremendously. love the visual of her waiting lap in heaven.
  3. all I can say is that I have always felt support and welcomed, and this forum saved my life.
  4. I wanted to share that there is light at the end of the tunnel for anyone still suffering. hang in there. I had different symptoms ranging from nausea, extreme heartburn and horrible dizziness with brain fog. now, gluten, dairy and soy free 6 months later, I am living my life without being afraid to make plans for fear of being too sick to go anywhere...
  5. I am gluten free, soy free and dairy free and have no issues eating at all. I just got a crock pot and I use it at least twice a week. I freeze up individual portions for quick meals. I get home late a lot and don't have much time either. the food cooks all day unattended, you don't need time for it. I don't use the store bought products much, I use fresh...
  6. tarnelberry, I teach yoga too! my granddaughter is 4 1/2 and whenever I go over there I bring my own food. sometimes we eat out, and take my food with me. about a month ago she asked why I am always eating my own food, and I told her I have food allergies and some foods make me sick. she was happy with that answer, as she has allergies so she knows what...
  7. flowerqueen, I used to have him do my color as well, but I won't risk it anymore since I got sick. so I do my color at home and it works for me, save alot of money too
  8. speaking to them is a crapshoot, it may or may not get done, and you may or may not be able to eat. better to go prepared and not hungry. I went to an out of town wedding and was assured they would provide meals for me for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding. I saw my cousin an hour or so before the rehearsal dinner, and when I thanked her for arranging...
  9. I have found also that any of the rice products make me feel sick. quite the bummer since that was a mainstay I could carry around with me. I tried a few different brands, and the same result with all. so another thing crossed off my list. interesting though, I can eat rice.. things that make you go hmmm
  10. I went yesterday to get my hair cut. I called my guy at the salon and he said he'd go in early for me. I came in with wet hair, he cut it, and I was out before the others started working. I didn't bring products with me, I just left wet and did my own thing at home. it was great!
  11. I went to an allergist as I was still having issues after going gluten free. she did skin tests and just started with the more likely offenders in her experience. turned out to be allergic to dairy and soy which I had suspected after doing some elimination testing on my own. all in all it turned out to be just what I needed as it confirmed my feelings...
  12. I totally agree here with eating before you go and bringing anything with you you might want to have. it's your body, I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of a catering mass produced kitchen. I went out of town for a wedding, brought a backpack filled with food and ate before the wedding. I found a great place to eat on Find Me Gluten Free. no one...
  13. I am gluten dairy and soy free, but I do eat meat. can you have fish or chicken? I eat alot of that with fresh whole foods, not processed gluten free packaged stuff. that stuff is pretty expensive and I am happier not having food out of a box. I usually make up a tray of baked chicken, maybe fish in the oven and have it for the week. then I bake a bunch of...
  14. there's more going on here for sure than gluten problems. and my kitchen is gluten free as well. I do let them bring in food and eat it with plastic ware and they clean it up, but that's it. nothing cooks in my kitchen.
  15. I just got back from a day at Epcot and am so happy to share my experience. we were meeting my brother there for the day and they made reservations at Le Cellier in Canada. they didn't mention Celiac or allergies so I just brought my own food like I always do. I had no idea. I am in love with this place. the staff is more knowledgeable than any place...
  16. after I went gluten free I felt worlds better, but not fully. I was still nauseous and had terrible heartburn at times. I suspected dairy and soy. I tried an elimination diet for those one thing at a time. I then went to an allergist and found out I am allergic to both. so now, knowing that, I am gluten, dairy and soy free, and feel pretty darn great! ...
  17. Yes, this happened to me too last time I got my hair cut. I go to a pretty large shop with many hair stylists, and their was alot of stuff being sprayed all around me. I had told him not to use anything on me, but the stuff around me must have gotten me. I am due for a hair cut, and will call if he can see me early before the others come in.
  18. this is a great thread. I agree it does not matter to us if we have a confirmed diagnosis. we know our bodies and that's what counts.
  19. I was just filling out my info for a trip to Israel in June. On El Al Airline there is a choice for gluten free, however it clearly states that it is not for celiacs or sensitive people. I guess it is just lighter gluten, LOL. I am ordering fruit and will be taking my own food.
  20. you described perfectly how I feel on gluten. this was the worst symptom I had before my diagnosis. the dizziness out of no where during the day, in the middle of the night, with no rhyme or reason. this was affecting my life horribly. after giving up gluten, no dizziness. if I get glutened, the dizziness comes back. sometimes just a flash, and total brain...
  21. I am looking at the avocado with mayo and that caught my attention. all the mayo I have seen has soy in it, even a bottle I got before my allergy tests that was olive oil mayo. so for me, soy looks like it might be an offender. and believe me, soy is everywhere! I think I was the most shocked when I found it in tuna. I would avoid all dairy and all...
  22. another thought in addition to the reactions adding up, is that the croutons are all gluten, while the nuts were probably just coated.
  23. I am 59, it took me a few years as well
  24. After I went gluten free I felt worlds better, but I still was having some nausea and terrible acid reflux. I went to an allergist who did a full panel of allergy tests, and it turns out I am allergic to dairy and soy. so being allergic to dairy means I don't have lactose free items, since there is still the milk protein present, casein. soy is in so many...
  25. I see someone suggested removing soy from your diet and see how that goes. I know you only use dairy free products. soy is something that I cannot tolerate along with dairy and gluten. I got soyed over the weekend, totally my fault, pure stupidity, and I am still trying to recover. I am exhausted, can't drag myself out of bed, along with the intestinal problems...
