You can find information on "The Eggs" here:
With further research, you will find that the glucose (wheat) listed in the ingredients, is processed to the level that is considered safe for people with Celiac.
-
I saw cadbury creme eggs on that list...I thought they contained wheat. The ones I got for my daughter this year had wheat listed in the ingredients.
The source of glucose is wheat, but processed to the levels that is considered safe for people with Celiac to consume.

Thanks for the responses! I guess I would prefer a dx to make it "official." Also, my family believes that it is all in my head. I guess it is more for them than for me.
I would do a biopsy but financially it is not possible at the moment. I'm intending to go gluten free, and I know that throws off biopsy results -- so I guess that means the biopsy is out.
The only reason I speculated about Enterolab is because you can be gluten free and still do the testing. Plus, compared to the cost of a biopsy, it is relatively cheap. I'm just a bit skeptical about its reliability.
If anyone knows a good doctor in the DC Metro area that is knowledgeable about Celiac Disease, please let me know.
Thanks for the input!

Looking for the biggest gluten free convention for sampling different products.
I don't know where you are located in Virginia, but the Chesapeake Tidewater Celiac Chapter is one of the largest and most active in the country. You generally can find their dates of activities under the Calender of Events on this site.
Here is more information:

I was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been Gluten Free for about two weeks now.
For the past three days, I have felt really dehydrated, thirsty, and can't seem to get rid of a dry mouth no matter how much water I drink. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's related to the gluten withdrawl.
If I recall properly, people absorb 75% of the fluids we intake in our small intestines. So, if there is damage to the small intestine, as would be with Celiac Disease, it would make sense that absorptions of fluids would also be hindered.
Drink as much as your body wants. It's telling you what to do. You thirst will slack off after a while. Most likely when your body heals.

Thanks for posting this. That's more than I got and my daughter works there.

MyGlutenFacts.com has published an Easter Candy Listing. As always make an informed choice when dealing with information on the internet or lists.
Look for Gluten Free Easter Candy List there.
Happy Easter!

I have had no issue with McD's Fries, but I accept the risk of possible cross contamination from any fast food restaurant.

Lynayah, it would be easy to wash your fruit well and, if you felt it necessary, cut out the area where the label was stuck to.
There are so many areas of concern on the gluten free diet, this one appears to be an easy fix.
-
You're welcome, but thank the dedicated people who maintain this listing for all of us in need.

There is very little else that that I am aware of that causes villous atrophy.
Although villous atrophy is not exclusive of celiac disease, it is considered a crucial finding. Other causes of blunted villi include tropical sprue, malnutrition, intolerance to cow's milk, soy protein intolerance, and infectious gastroenteritis. However, most of these conditions can be readily excluded on the basis of clinical history and laboratory data.

This is a great resource. The information is updated regularly and it is dated.
It's always best to rely on your label reading skills, though

Thank you Sandy for posting this! It's good information, but nothing to get too excited about yet.
This is the study that is currently being conducted. We have several members that are participants in this study. It is in the clinical stages. This "Cure" is not that at all. It MAY prevent some symptoms of accidental cross contamination.

As waves of nausea, reflux and sour stomach takes over me, I can trace it back to ingesting gluten.
Also, with severe constipation, vomiting would not be unusual.
Celiac Disease has over 200 symptoms and those with gluten intolerance they may vary.
EVERYONE is different.

I love having Captain Morgan original spiced rum and Bacardi rums (gold & silver).....but I was wondering if anyone knows if they are gluten-free? I tried reading the internet and found many different answers and after I drink the Captain Morgan I have some slight symptoms of it containing wheat or gluten. Just wanted to make sure before I continue to use these products. Thanks for the help!
All distilled alcohols are considered safe for people with Celiac to consume. Flavor added after this process may not be.

A few things you need first:
* This will be part of your medical expenses deduction so you must have sufficient medical expenses (as a % of your earnings) to itemize your deductions.
* A doctor’s letter to substantiate your condition as DIAGNOSED Celiac Disease.
* Receipts.
What you can deduct:
* You can claim mileage expenses, and postage/shipping fees for special needs shopping.
* The price difference between regular and gluten-free products. If you were buying wheat pasta for .99 and now buy gluten free pasta for $5.00, you have to deduct the difference and that amount is used for the deduction. If you eat cereal, for example & regular corn flakes are $3.50 but gluten-free corn flakes are $5.49 for a box half the size, you have to figure the cost per ounce then calculate the difference.
* The full cost of some replacement items such as gluten-free flour and xanthan gum. Some items are not interchangeable i.e. rice flour is not a one-to-one replacement for wheat flour the way pasta or cereal is so the entire cost is deductible.
* Restaurant surcharges – any extra fees that restaurants charge for gluten-free bread or pasta can be completely deducted.
According to Celiac.com:
“After you file, your IRS office may refer you to Publication 17 and tell you these deductions are not permissible. IRS representatives have ruled otherwise and this is applicable throughout the US Refer them to the following Citations:
Revenue Ruling 55-261
Cohen 38 TC 387
Revenue Ruling 76-80, 67 TC 481
Flemming TC MEMO 1980 583
Van Kalb TC MEMO 1978 366″

Hey Sparky! Welcome to the forum. You have found a great place.
I would go over your diet, one product at a time and make sure that everything is gluten free. Kellogg Rice Krispies are not gluten free. And as mushroom mentioned, Rice Dream Soy Milk does have a low level of gluten, that some people with Celiac can be sensitive too.
Keep a food diary and that will help you identify an issue.
Please run by any issue you may have. We have lots of peeps who have been where you are now. Take advantage of their experience.
It will get better, promise.

I just heard about this recently! It sounds wonderful. This would be a super idea for anyone vacationing in Morehead City or Emerald Isle.
I love the idea!

Mozzarella Shredded Cheese contains a modified food starch that may
contain gluten.
This response from Sargento is misleading. I may fly to the moon someday, too.
If the MFS contained wheat, it by law, must be listed as "Modified Food Starch - Wheat". If it is just listed as above, in the US it's derived from corn.
This is Sargento's response on their FAQ - updated 1-2010
. Is there gluten in Sargento cheeses?
We are pleased to tell you that most Sargento natural cheeses should be acceptable to a gluten-free diet. However, there are a few exceptions.
There is wheat gluten in Sargento Blue Cheese. Those on a gluten-free diet should also not eat the following Sargento Snacks: Cheese Dips! Cheddar Dip & Buttery Pretzels, Cheese Dips! Cheddar Dip & Zesty Ranch Bagel Chips, Cheese Dip & Sticks, Cheese Dip & Cheddar Sticks, Cheese Dip & Pretzels, Cheese Dip & Crackers, Chocolate Dip & Cookie Sticks or S’mores.
You will notice that we use microcrystalline cellulose, calcium carbonate or potato starch as anti-caking agents on our shredded cheeses. When added to shredded cheese, they prevent the shreds from sticking together.
Microcrystalline cellulose is a white, odorless, tasteless, totally natural powder made from cellulose, a naturally occurring component of most plants. Calcium carbonate and potato starch are also natural ingredients. None of these anti-caking agents is derived from wheat, rye, oats or barley; therefore, they are acceptable to a gluten-free diet.
The source of vinegar in Sargento Ricotta Cheese can vary; however, it is triple distilled, and, to the best of our knowledge, no gluten is present.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have questions about how our products may affect your medical condition, we suggest you discuss this information with your physician.
***notice there is no mention of Modified Food Starch being an issue

The information from Sargento was very helpful, thanks so much for sharing it!
I am in search of a gluten-free Blue Cheese. I have heard that one exists, but have just started my research.
As far as the vinegar goes... always follow your "gut" as to what feels safe to you, but I have used several distilled vinegars that "sound safe" to me and so far (3.5 years) have never had a problem. At the same time, you are willing to make FRESH ricotta - Your Great Grandma would be so proud! Enjoy.

There are several threads regarding blue cheese here. Most blues should not be a gluten issues. If it had a natural starter, the gluten remaining would be so minimal, it should not be an issue for those with Celiac. Most blues are started with synthetic starter and not a gluten issue.
Read the label and choose for your self.
Tripled distilled vinegar, is safe for most Celiacs.
