  1. That's terrific!
  2. I called about Duncan Hines (Canada, but the label said manufactured in the U.S.) in December and was told it is NOT gluten-free. I'd use the Pillsbury and call Duncan Hines on Monday. (Well, I'd use Pillsbury if I lived south of the 49th, we can't get it here.) Edit: OOOPS! I guess I'm too late, I just saw the original time of your post was yesterday...
  3. That was me with the 11 x 4. I figured for small 7 year old hands, the 9 x 5 bread was too "wide" and we'd be making 1/2 sandwiches all the time. This way, we get a nice sized loaf, not too wide and it lasts him a couple of weeks unless he's having toast everyday as well.
  4. Hmm. Ty had an upper endoscopy when he was diagnosed. They checked his esophagus, stomach and duodenum. If they've already biopsied you there, can't they use those samples in addition to your blood test to confirm or deny celiac? The duodenum is the "top" part of the intestines and from what I understand, usually the first section of the intestines to show...
  5. We use Nature's Path Honey'd Corn Flakes. They are the second best gluten-free cereal around. The best was discontinued 2 months after my son's diagnosis . I guess I should say they are MY favourite gluten-free cereal. Ty likes Kinnikrisp "rice krispies". To me they have an odd after taste and a peculiar texture while eating them. On the odd occasion when...
  6. I saw the chicken nuggets the other day for the first time, and refused to buy them. $6 for 224g. That's half a pound. SIX DOLLARS! Forget it.
  7. Cottage Bread Gluten Free Recipe Ingredients: 1/3 cup olive oil 3 eggs 2 cup rice flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons lemon or orange rind 1/2 cup clover honey 1 cup cottage cheese 1 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt Directions: In blender combine oil, honey, and cottage cheese. Add eggs one at a time, blend until...
  8. I know a lot of people here can't have milk products, so I thought I should post this: ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED MILK PROTEIN IN LAURA SECORD BRAND NO ADDED SUGAR LACTOSE FREE DARK CHOCOLATE FLAVOURED BAR OTTAWA, February 27, 2007 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Laura Secord are warning people with allergies to milk protein not to...
  9. Both CheriA and AndreaB have to deal with quite a bit of additional food allergies/intolerances. I'm sure one of them will show up soon with some ideas, or perhaps you could PM them. I know for sure CheriA's daughter can't have rice, and soy is the biggie with AndreaB. Cheri makes a sorghum sandwich type bread, the recipe is on Twin Valley Mills website....
  10. Open Original Shared Link Is Trident
  11. I think you should put a couple in and save the rest for the next book. Are you self-publishing? There's a boy at Ty's school who is diabetic and gluten intolerant, and his dad is/was a trained chef (he's gluten intolerant as well, and couldn't stay at the restaurant) and he's working on a cookbook as well. I just met him the other day, he said he's had...
  12. I just changed my avatar today, and at the top of the page were a bunch of those warnings, and then I just scrolled down and changed it anyway. It worked, I don't know why, but you might want to try scrolling down. There was a lot of white space between the warnings and the blue box with "my controls" info.
  13. Sorry, Lisa, I don't know anything about H.pylori. I can, however, bump this back to the top for you.
  14. Hey Lisa, I guess you're "under" by now. I hope everything goes/went well.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Tide makes people itch. I hate Tide. I do not have celiac or DH, but everytime I try Tide, I want to scratch my skin off. Therefore, I never use it on purpose. I tried a sample that came in the mail once on some sheets, and made my husband get out of bed (at 2 a.m.) so I could change the sheets! Tide is bad. FWIW, in Canada all detergents...
  17. Happy Birthday!
  18. I didn't vote - maybe I should put Ty (who has celiac) down for breastfed for less than six months (he was about 5 1/2 months when we switched). I was formula fed and I don't have celiac. Edited to add: We put Ty on rice cereal (Heinz...no idea if there's WROB/M in there) at about 4 months, then some fruit, then around 5 - 6 months old he had Heinz...
  19. Good luck!
  20. Don't quote me, but I think Masa Harina is white corn flour and corn flour is yellow. There may be lime juice involved in the Masa Harina. I got mine at Superstore (Cdn) on the taco/taco mix/salsa aisle. I haven't used it yet though. Glad to hear the pregnancy is going well.
  21. I can do that. I'm the only lefty in the family and I mirror-imaged my Mom when she was teaching me to print. Once I figured out how to do it right way around it was no problem. I learned how to read when I was four, so that probably helped, maybe I copied the letters after they were written, rather than follow my Mom. Does that make sense? Pretty much...
  22. Good Grief! I don't suppose he cleaned it up. That is really insensitive - especially coming right after your Rolos accident.
  23. Please note the original date on this post is from 2005, so the wheat part of the ingredients could certainly have changed in that time.
  24. We cook it in a wok. We fill the wok about 1/2 way and cook it there. We tried it in the deep fryer once, but the batter got stuck in the wire basket and made a heck of a mess. It's Guhlia's fried chicken.
