ARCHIVED Disneyland Caters To Gluten Intolerance
2Boys4Me replied to Looking for answers's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Check out post #13 on this thread. It's not the exact mail-out or sheet from City Hall, but darned close. I believe Chef Chris's phone number or email is there as well. FWIW, when I called Chef Chris was on vacation and the chef who was covering for him had phone restrictions (?) and couldn't call me back (because I'm in Canada?) and he directed me to City... -
ARCHIVED Ginger Ale
2Boys4Me replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You've been pregnant for a week and you're already planning your hospital stay?! (I'm kidding. ) Last time I checked (it's been a while, though) Canada Dry, the Champagne of Ginger Ales was gluten-free. -

ARCHIVED Corn Chips
2Boys4Me replied to Carriefaith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Tostitos (made by Frito-Lay). I have seen Fritos only at Wal-mart. I'm not sure if you have a Wal-mart iin your town. I have never seen Mission brand in Canada. I haven't seen Que Pasa either, but Felidae's from Canada, I believe near Edmonton, and you're a bit north of Edmonton, so it's possible you can get them at Save-On Foods. We don't have a Save-On... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Baking Cookbooks
2Boys4Me replied to angel42's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, Most recipes do require more than one type of flour for texture and taste. You cannot replace all-purpose flour with only one gluten free flour. Annalise Roberts has a good cookbook called "Gluten Free Baking Classics" (or Open Original Shared Link has some recipes also) but she requires a flour blend of brown rice flour, tapioca starch (same as tapioca... -

Thanks for the update. It sounds like Megan is doing great. Soon you won't be able to keep up with her! -
ARCHIVED Hospital Ran The Wrong Test
2Boys4Me replied to chrissy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ugh. That's maddening. At least they've admitted the mistake and will cover the costs. Too bad about the lengthy wait for results, though. I've been wondering about Tianna, is she getting any better? -
ARCHIVED Never Been This Sick In My Whole Life.
2Boys4Me replied to Rusla's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh my gosh that's terrible! What's the company? We don't buy chocolate often, but once in a while we'll get some from Purdy's. (Callebaut's a bit pricey.) I hope you feel better soon. -

ARCHIVED This Month Is Out Gi Appointment
2Boys4Me replied to vampella's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good luck. I'm sure the GI will have to agree there's no point to the biopsy since she's been on the diet for a while and clearly getting better. -
ARCHIVED Disneyland Caters To Gluten Intolerance
2Boys4Me replied to Looking for answers's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We went to Disneyland in December and had no problems at all. We didn't try to take a lot of food on to the park though. A container of pudding or an apple or something and simply pointed at my son and said that he was on a restricted diet and needed to have something handy in case of emergency. I took a printout from my local association and also picked... -

ARCHIVED Jan. 8th Coming So Soon...
2Boys4Me replied to num1habsfan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Lisa, Have your cousin call around "Motel Village" and see if she can find a decent, reasonably priced place for you to stay. It's probably about 2 -3 km to Foothills from there, but I have NO idea what the bus situation is like around there. Try googling Calgary Transit and see if you can find online maps or schedules. Good luck, I hope they figure... -
ARCHIVED Am I Being Unreasonable, Or Is He?
2Boys4Me replied to emcmaster's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Elizabeth - good luck! I agree with sleeping down the hall - I imagine it wouldn't be for long. The waking up your husband and having him deal with the cat seems a bit passive aggressive, but on the other hand he's sleeping and you're not, so if you accidentally spray him instead of the cat... I don't get why he has a white noise machine AND ear... -
ARCHIVED Glutened 5 Year Old?
2Boys4Me replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't have Clan Thomson, so I can't comment on that, just that I'm 90% sure someone on this forum said Duncan Hines icing is NOT gluten-free, and then Antoine who answered the phone, but other than saying it was not gluten-free, couldn't answer any of my questions. I guess, give them a call and see what answer you get...could be interesting. There's no... -
ARCHIVED Glutened 5 Year Old?
2Boys4Me replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry I can't help. My son was asymptomatic, and he may have accidentally had gluten a couple of months ago on his birthday. I didn't have time to make homemade icing (had a cupcake disaster and had to make a second batch) and we used Duncan Hines icing which according to the ingredient listing appeared gluten free, but now I hear from a lot of people that... -

ARCHIVED What Was Your Favorite Christmas Gift?
2Boys4Me replied to Lisa's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I bet I can guess. Shh! -
Okay, I found the thing I mentioned earlier. It says: Xanthan measures for regular recipe conversion For every cup of gluten free flour use: 1/2 tsp xanthan/guar gum for cakes and most cookies 1 tsp xanthan/guar gum for breads or pizza I have no idea where I found this info. Somewhere on the information highway. I haven't tried to convert recipes...

The recipes I use always say to use x amount of flour (or flour mix) and then use y amount of xanthan. I know I saw something somewhere that said if it's cookies use this much xanthan, if it's cake use that much, if it's bread use that much, but I can't find it right now. Try a google search and I'll try to find it, but I'm pretty busy this week with the...

ARCHIVED Confused About Nicole
2Boys4Me replied to Nikki2003's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Within the first six months, Ty went from 33 to 39lbs where he has remained for the last 8 months. He is 7 years old and weighs 39-40lbs. He is in about the 5th percentile on the growth chart. He has gotten taller, and other people mention that he has "filled out" and has more energy. We check labels diligently and have never knowingly given him gluten since...
