ARCHIVED What do these results mean?
cyclinglady replied to Em97's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Looks like you might be on your way to a celiac disease diagnosis. As much as I like having easy access to medical records online, it can be unnerving to see results that are potentially scary or life altering. You need to call your doctor and set up a GI appointment. Until then, read some reliable celiac websites and learn about this autoimmune condition... -
I am sorry that your daughter is ill. i am assuming her celiac blood tests were positive. Did you doctor advise that she go gluten free before the endoscopy? If not, you should let him/her know. Healing can take a while or you can heal fast. A person needs to be on a gluten diet for any of the celiac tests to work. If off of gluten, do not be surprised...

ARCHIVED Peanut Butter Cookies
cyclinglady replied to HeaJen's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This recipe was around when I was in middle school (back in the 1970's). My Home Economics teacher had us make these (remember when girls were required to take Home Ec? Perfect for celiacs! My tip? Always use parchment paper or a silicone mat, especially with gluten-free flour. These tend to stick more. -
ARCHIVED Carne asada cheese fries
cyclinglady replied to Victoria1234's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sounds yummy! I make cookie sheets full of nachos: corn chips (base), layer with refried beans, cooked meat/chicken, and cheese. Bake until cheese has melted. Before serving, add sour cream, quacamole/avocado, salsa, peppers, tomatoes. We all huddle around the cookie sheets and eat. -

ARCHIVED Having Hard time
cyclinglady replied to Christeanna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Give yourself time. My hubby was told to go gluten free some 16 years ago by two medical doctors. It worked. But he cheated a lot the first year. It was hard on him. But eventually he found that feeling well is better than feeling like crap. I found that we both (I was diagnosed years later) adhered to the diet when we planned our meals and snacks... -
Mushrooms hit and miss
cyclinglady replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I never buy any raw produce that is pre-washed unless I am desperate. Those ready-to-eat salads are constantly being recalled due to bacterial contamination. Besides, they do not last long. So, I save money buying uncut, unprocessed produce. I prefer to wash stuff myself. It is just a "me" thing. Just takes seeing one family member in the hospital... -
Mushrooms hit and miss
cyclinglady replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
But why buy them pre-sliced? It is difficult to clean mushrooms. I never eat them, because they have always made me sick even when I was eating copious amounts of gluten prior to my diagnosis and gluten did not make me sick (little did I know......). So, I assume it is just an intolerance for me. I get a bad reaction to garlic too and get this...hot... -

ARCHIVED Dr won't order endoscopy
cyclinglady replied to blueskycloud's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This algorithm: Open Original Shared Link I am an odd diagnostic case. I only have positives on the DGP IgA (even on follow-up testing) and a Marsh Stage IIIB biopsy result. I am not IgA deficient. Karen is right. Something is wrong. I could have sworn my niece had celiac disease, but she did not. A pill camera caught her Crohn... -
ARCHIVED TTG IGA follow-up test still high
cyclinglady replied to kelzz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your TTG can go up instead of down in 7 months. The most likely reason is due to a gluten exposure. The learning curve on the gluten-free diet is steep. Really steep. You can try to figure out the source, but you might not find it. That is okay. I was anemic (no gut issues) when I was diagnosed. Hubby had been Gluten free for 12 years, so I knew... -
ARCHIVED Canker Sore/mouth ulcer - worried
cyclinglady replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am sorry that you are so worried! When was the last time you checked your antibodies? This test would rule out celiac disease as the culprit. -
ARCHIVED A decade later... advice.
cyclinglady replied to OnROB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi! I just wanted you to know that I tested positive to ONLY the DGP IgA, yet my biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB. The TTG is great, but it does not catch all. Even today, after a glutening, the only positive I get is the DGP IgA. My GI does not even bother to order anything else on my yearly visits or when I request a check (my glutening symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Celiac or Gluten sensitive?
cyclinglady replied to gluten confused's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have a positive on the celiac panel. It just takes one. I just had one positive (DGP IgA) on the complete panel, yet my biopsies obtained during an endoscopy confirmed my diagnosis. Your PCP should refer you to a GI. He should tell you to keep consuming gluten daily until all testing (endoscopy) is complete. It is obvious that they are not following... -
Me+My Gluten Assist
cyclinglady replied to chefkaren71's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A bit off topic (maybe I should create a post), but I encourage EVERYONE to keep copies of all their records. I changed providers about a year after my celiac disease diagnosis. When I first met my new GI and my PCP, I handed over a copy of my medical file (20 Years with a cover summary page). My new GI saw my antibody and biopsy results. There was NO... -

ARCHIVED Preliminary Results EGD? Celiac?
cyclinglady replied to DobbyNeedsaSock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Is that extra blood work gong to include a celiac blood panel? Geeezzzzz! I would stay on gluten and insist on it! At least really rule out celiac disease! Joint pain or tingling could take months or YEARS to resolve if you had celiac disease and that is on a strict gluten free diet! I do not know about your portal, but mine is created by my doctor... -
ARCHIVED lab questions
cyclinglady replied to croco's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Why don't you believe two doctors telling you that you have celiac disease? Were they actually Medical doctors? Granted, you should have been referred to a GI for an endoscopy to obtain biopsies. Was this ever suggested? Celiac disease can take months or YEARS to heal on a gluten free diet. Seriously! Why? The learning curve for the gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Docs can't seem to figure me out - wondering if anyone has had similar experiences
cyclinglady replied to LaurainAZ's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My niece tested negative for celiac disease. A pill camera reveal Crohn's (where scopes could not reach). Just something to consider. -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy results
cyclinglady replied to Paula Davis's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What? It looks like your GI does not want to diagnose you with celiac disease. Not saying that you have celiac disease, but I suggest asking/insisting on a full celiac panel. Learn more about the specific tests: Open Original Shared Link So glad that you have copies of the pathologist's report! You may have to consult with another GI. Some... -
ARCHIVED Preliminary Results EGD? Celiac?
cyclinglady replied to DobbyNeedsaSock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac disease can develop at anytime. You most likely tested negative if you were gluten free (or light) during your last test. Ask for celiac disease testing because they may have missed damaged areas if they were not looking for celiac disease. It sounds like they could visually see damage though. Again, other things can cause damage to the small intestine... -
ARCHIVED The pain is unbearable
cyclinglady replied to Browniebaby3's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think Ravenwoodglass missed the fact that you have been diagnosed as a celiac for a year. Are you sure you were glutened? To confirm, ask for a celiac antibodies test. This will confirm a celiac flare-up or at least rule out celiac disease as the cause of your current issues. Oh, you should be screened annually anyway: Open Original Shared Link ... -
ARCHIVED Preliminary Results EGD? Celiac?
cyclinglady replied to DobbyNeedsaSock's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! The biopsy may reveal celiac disease, but did you doctor order a celiac blood panel? Learn more: Open Original Shared Link Continue to eat gluten until your biopsy results come in. The blood tests require you to be in a gluten diet. Not sure how long you have been gluten free. Villi damage can happen for a variety of reasons, so be... -

cyclinglady replied to buckwheat's topic in Super Sensitive People
Thanks from me too! ? -
You could very well have celiac disease, but the only way to know is to get tested. celiac disease symptoms overlap with so many other illnesses. There is no way to tell by symptoms alone.
