  1. Keep us posted and I hope you find your answers!
  2. Okay, you made a typo, but I was not clear either. In any case, it appears that you tested negative for celiac disease. It was good that your doctor requested both sets of the TTg and DGP tests. It might be worth it to pursue your doctor's advice. It certainly won't harm you! My husband went gluten free per the advice of my allergist and his GP...
  3. Sign me up! Of course I will remain gluten-free for life, but if I could pop a pill prior to ordering gluten-free food in a restaurant and get that piece of mind, it would be so worth it!
  4. I do not know, but it may be worth asking the doctor or doing more online research.
  5. I am not a doctor, but your tests results indicate that you do NOT have celiac disease. There is no test for a gluten sensitivity or Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance. But.....did your doctor order an IGA deficiency test? If you are IGA deficient, the celiac IGA tests will be invalid. The celiac panel usually catches most celiacs, but it is not infallible...
  6. I think you still need to find another GI doctor who can order a complete celiac panel and you need to be consuming gluten in order for the tests to be accurate. I know you are upset that your GI documented that you had diarrhea. Lots of doctors are forced to alter the symptoms in order to get insurance to pay for procedures. My own GI wrote that I had...
  7. From what I read, the TTG can take a while to come down if you are 1) old and 2) have another autoimmune disease like Hashimoto's Thyroiditis or Type 1 Diabetes, or 3) having a hard time learning the gluten-free way of life. The DPG test is known to be better accessing dietary control. I think you and your kiddo must be doing a great job!
  8. Well, we at a lot of food from M & S last summer -- even their chips and did not get glutened. We were thankful that their items were clearly marked. But as a rule, we do not eat chips unless we are on vacation or at a party. They are not a healthy food! They should not be your number 1 food to go to! You may be reacting to potatoes (nightshades...
  9. Does pineapple or papaya bother you? Look for the enzyme plant source. That might be the issue besides not taking them with plenty of food.
  10. She might be reacting to the milk proteins (casein and whey). Start her out on hard cheeses and yogurt which contain very little lactose. If she still has issues, then you can assume that she is intolerant to the milk proteins. If she has celiac disease (Doctor: "Let's wait until there is severe damage because I can not condem a child to a gluten-free...
  11. If you were just glutened a few days ago, chances are it is just the effects of being glutened. Remember, celiac disease is an autoimmune response that is triggered by gluten. A "flare-up" or reaction can last for days to weeks. That means you can have good days and bad ones. You could be reacting to anything right now since your small intestines are...
  12. Here is a link to the University of Chicago regarding a gluten challenge: Open Original Shared Link
  13. Here are all the tests: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) -AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests -endoscopic biopsy - make sure at least 6 samples are taken (Source: NVSMOM -- ) Anemia was pretty much my only symptom at the time of my diagnosis...
  14. Welcome! I think you need to get copies of all your medical records. You may have had just a celiac screening (TTG and IGA deficiency tests). A complete celiac panel may be in order. In my case, I was only positive one one of the DGPs. Had my GI ordered the celiac disease screening tests, my diagnosis might have been missed. You are your best...
  15. SefMom5 posted last August (2014) that she had been gluten-free for a year in order to help heal her thyroid. She talked about getting tested, but not sure she has. SelfMom5 did you get celiac testing?
  16. I am sorry, but that is a decision you must make for yourself! Educating yourself about celiac disease will help make that decision easier! I can tell you that I am formally diagnosed (two years) but my hubby has been gluten-free for 14 years. He refuses to do a challenge and I do not blame him as gluten makes him sick (we all know that). He will be...
  17. It looks like you have two options: 1) consider a gluten challenge and get tested for celiac disease. It might help you adhere to the diet if testing is positive. 2) consider yourself a celiac (based on all your symptoms) and never consume gluten again! Like Karen said there is nothing you can take to prevent an autoimmune reaction from injesting gluten...
  18. Country life is at least certified gluten-free. I am sure there are others, but with what you have been through, I think an iron tablet that is certified is best instead of relying on the statement "no gluten". Just my opinion.
  19. Well, who knows? Even a doctor can not diagnose you without you consuming gluten for 8 to 12 weeks prior to a blood draw. Your doctor tested you even though you have been gluten free (more or less) for a year? Eating "less or none" gluten would not be acceptable for someone with celiac. They can NEVER have gluten without consequences! I recommend...
  20. Here is the complete list of celiac blood tests: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) -AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests -endoscopic biopsy - make sure at least 6 samples are taken I would ask the GI to have the full panel drawn especially...
  21. So you have been taking a thyroid replacement all this time and it contains gluten? No wonder you are so sick! Please make sure to call the manufacturer each time you get a prescription filled or purchase an OTC supplement/med. Hard to do when you are so sick, I know! You should feel better soon. In the meantime eat fat! Add coconut oil to your...
  22. Maybe a trip to your GI is in order. You might have something unrelated to a glutening. I hope you feel better soon!
  23. Sounds like you were gluten free when you had the celiac blood test. Did I misunderstand? You must be eating gluten for about 8 to 12 weeks prior to the test. Learn more here: Open Original Shared Link You might be avoiding gluten in your foods but what about hidden gluten and cross contamination? Have other GI issues been ruled out (IBD, Crohn...
  24. Here is my two cents. My TTG was negative and my IGA Test was very high. Only the DGP IGA test was positive yet I had a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe damage) on my biopsy obtained via endoscopy. My docs agree that my reposts are rare, but it happens. If there a lot of symptoms, can a full celiac panel be run? My insurance will not unless ordered...
