  1. Welcome to the forum! If it comes back that is is DH, we are glad to help you transition to a gluten-free diet. Check out the newbie thread under our coping section, so you can arm yourself with some info before a transition is needed. Let us know!
  2. Ha! I am an introvert the same way, too. I hole up in my house, working from home, and may never see someone other than my husband until I have to go to a doctors appointment, lol. I value my alone time, too, but have to force myself to stop the isolation, lol.
  3. Many people eat them with no problem. Some people are uncomfortable with the shared facility/equipment, but they test for contamination. There have been a few people who anecdotally do the "I ate this and got sick" thing, but of course that is not always reliable, I suspect it is because Amy's meals are vegetarian and heavy in beans, veggies, and tofu in...
  4. Especially with cats... if they get lost they are unlikely to have or keep on their collar, and will be gone forever if they go too far. I had a friend who lost his 1 year old cat, found it a few years later sitting in a window two blocks over... apparently he had been two timing the households getting fed, and the lady thought he was a stray and decided...
  5. Yep, ask away for recipes, no secret kitchen recipes here! Last night I made up a beef stir fry for dinner. Tonight I will be tired from my Immunoglubulin Infusion, so I picked up an Udi's lassagna. Yummy yummy... reminds me of the good ol' pre-celiac days when I frequently made a stouffers lasagna. Glad that gluten-free option is out now. Oh,...
  6. Aw, sorry to hear about the glutening. One time my husband screamed NOOOOO at me in a BBQ restaurant we go to, because I had speared a piece of his sausage on his plate... that had been served with a slice of bread sitting on top. I was really unhappy but glad he almost caught it I guess, lol. There is a website called meetup.com and they host legitimate...
  7. That author tends to report on all kinds of things, some of them with very little impact to actual Celiacs.
  8. Yesterday at the store I noticed that all three kinds of the Farm Rich meatballs in the freezer section are now labeled gluten-free. Always have had no gluten ingredients but it is nice to have a label on it making your eyes find it better.
  9. That is a good idea. I think I am going to go on a tour of drug stores and GNC to see what I can find.
  10. Also, I want to add, I don't want to go over 100% daily value of folic acid, because I have to take a big dose once a week after my methrotrexate, and too much of that will give you sores on the hands and mouth.
  11. So my latest blood results from my Lupus doctor showed I have slightly high calcium(10.6 with a normal range of 8.6-10.4 mg/dL) and he wants me to stop getting extra calcium. Given my Celiac disease, I want to keep supplementing with a well rounded multi-vitamin, preferably one that has iron given that I am a female. I have been taking the store brand...
  12. Nice that you can view it online soon, I have a few doctors where I can do that and I really like it. Let us know!
  13. Welcome to the forum! I agree, prunes are awesome. Almost a magical help for me. This section here is for blogs, so not as many people will read this. If you'd like to get some more replies, feel free to post in the regular forum, you can go to the Coping With section, and then at the upper right click the blue button that says "Start new topic" ...
  14. Today I made a chicken enchilada casserole... my husband doesn't like chicken enchiladas with the sour cream sauce, and I saw someone on TV use a green enchilada sauce so I tried that. Just made up some shredded chicken, layered it, black beans, cheese, and corn tortillas with the hatch green sauce (In a can- certified gluten-free, really yummy) and it was...
  15. This is actually a really good visual to post for people who deal with GI irregularity. They use a similar scale in medical settings. Funny story, when I was working in a hospital pharmacy, one of the drug reps had dropped off poo scale posters. Someone taped it to our main workflow bulletin board. On the last, most loose one, I wrote "too much taco bell...
  16. Yummy, will have to keep an eye out for it!
  17. I made it without that. Really isn't needed... plenty of butter in the recipe LOL
  18. Welcome to the forum. What country are you located in? What you describe doesn't sound like a typical presentation of DH. While it wouldn't hurt to get tested for that and Celiac disease, have you been tested for other things, such as Sexually Transmitted Diseases? Have you had cultures done, where they can see if there is bacteria or yeast there?...
  19. Oh man I cannot stay away from those Cadbury Creme eggs.... nomnomnomnom
  20. That's awesome!
  21. They can be hidden in there so definitely a good idea to have a doctor poke around and look while he is in there
  22. Once you get there, maybe you can get a group together of gluten-free people... put up flyers in the dining hall, etc. It may be a great way to make friends, especially if you live on campus.
  23. Unless you have a medical reason to avoid anesthesia, I highly recommend getting the sedation, makes it quick and easy. If you are afraid of the anesthesia, then it is better to do it without than not at all, I suppose.
  24. The cinnamon rolls were a success!! These roll up easily if you follow their directions. Great texture... perfect. They have you bake them in muffin tins so they aren't perfectly straight, but they rise well and have a lovely top for the icing to melt in to. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/gluten-free-cinnamon-rolls-recipe
  25. Well, it is snowing in the DFW area. Roads are totally a mess since it started after people went to work and then they all tried to slip n slide home.. LOL. My husband stayed home and here in a little bit he is going to make me a grilled cheese, and I am going to try my hand at making gluten-free Cinnamon Rolls... the right way with yeast and stuff. Something...
