  1. I have to keep all goodies and even the ingredients to make goodies out of the house too. Otherwise I can't stay out of them. The other thing I do is remind myself of how bad these foods make me feel and that by giving in to eating them, I will only extent my withdrawal time. This only works when I am sane Just remind yourself that you...
  2. Living Harvest hemp protein and Nutri biotic rice protein. I found both of them at my health food store. But neither have a lot of calories. THe rice is only 58 calories per tbsp. The hemp is only 65. I had trouble finding protein powders without soy, etc too. IMO the hemp has a strong flavor, but some like it. The hemp seeds taste a little like cashews...
  3. What she said but, I just wanted to add that nuts are a problem for me if they are roasted, etc. Except peanuts for some reason. I can eat PB I eat the raw nuts found in the bins at my local health food store. They taste so much better than the pre packaged stuff. I started out very very slowly and found that the cashews were the easiest for...
  4. Truffels, Glad I could help (she says sheepishly as she sinks into her chair and soon out of sight never to be heard from again) Sorry I don't have any answers for you on the hypog/gluten connection, but I'm relatively new to all this too. And still trying to figure things out. I just found out I was hypo G 6 weeks ago. I would not have thought...
  5. I love spinach too. Lightly sautee onions in EVOO, add spinach, fresh lemon juice and salt. Yum !! And I posted a spinach/cheese casserole recipe on the casserole thread. I've converted a lot of spinach haters with that recipe. I had to put meat back into my diet to fix the iron problem too. I am currently into breaded and fried cubed buffalo...
  6. I have a lousy memory, but I don't recall anyone saying that their reaction to gluten taking a week before initial symptoms showed up. But, many of us have symptoms that last for awhile. My last gluten challenge, with whole wheat, took 10 days to get out my system. I didn't get "D" this time, but total constipation instead. And horrible pains in...
  7. I get this too. Always the bottom lip and always in the same spot. Weird, huh ? At first I thought I was allergic / sensitive to salt because it was happening every time I ate salt. Then I am thought it is only when I OD on salt. I love salt on my watermelon. But, that's not the case either. On a lighter note, now everytime I see someone with...
  8. Not to change the topic, but have you tasted that millet bread available at health food stores ? I believe it is made in FL. I was told that it was gluten free and that the local celiacs were eating it, so I tried it . Now the label warns about the wheat in it. But, I loved the taste. Anyone have any recipe ideas for millet bread ? Marcia
  9. Thanks. I really like millet. BTW. what brand do you use ? Mine has been tasting too strong lately. I was getting it from the bin. And then rinsing it before cooking it.
  10. I get whiny too. And I have to agree with whoever said to add something new to your diet when you get that way. Thinking back, I have done this sooo many times.
  11. Spinach Casserole 2 eggs 2 pkg chopped spinach (thawed and well drained) 2 cup cottage cheese (FF is fine) 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese s/p to taste Beat eggs. Add other ingredients. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hr. Makes 8 x 8 pan. Easy and most people who don't like spinach like this. Marcia
  12. That's great news. Can you tell me where they announced this at ? Was this on the news ? Did you notice that celiac . com is not one of the websites listed ? Bummer
  13. Me too. I was diagnosed with IBS with Constipation dominant. I would have "D" on a regular basis too, but since it was a relief from the "C", it didn't bother me as much. It was always a good thing.
  14. I've been watching this to see how it turns out. I have noticed changes here too. I'm 50 and flashing (hot) like a neon sign. So, I figured it was related to peri menopause.
  15. Yeah, I was thinking that he probably has his own chef too. BUT, he must go out sometime. Possibly the next time he goes to Trump's for dinner, he'll teach Donald about Celiac. This could be very good for us...
  16. I had a chocolate free day today. So far anyway I'm still having a few pains in my chest, so I am trying to see if it is the chocolate. I sure hope not I love the green and black's 70 % cocoa MMMmmmm
  17. Excuse me for jumping in But, Walmart supercenter has wild salmon for $3 a lb. It was $4 last month. It is frozen and divided into 4 -1/4 lb packages so it is really convenient. I like it, but I don't know if there is some sort of quality to look for other than wild I like sardines, but I need it on a cracker. Know of any good crackers ? And...
  18. Sooooo, do you think we can ease our way into the candida diet. Over say 2 - 3 months. Let's say we drop sugars and processed grains. Minimize whole grains. But, not all carbs. That's too hard on our bodies. Gradually add some form of probiotic. Yogurt, Kefir, supplements. Take some milder anti fungals sparingly. Pau D'arco tea,...
  19. Peanut butter cookies. And it's funny, I never really liked them before going gluten free. Marcia

    ARCHIVED Vitamin B12

Does anyone know how often you need a B12 shot ? I have seen anywhere from daily to monthly. Mine was low back in May and my doc wants me to get one every month. How do I know if once a month is enough ? And do your numbers come back up immediately after the shot or does it take awhile ? Thanks, Marcia
  21. I'm trying to rotate my foods too, but it is hard since most food comes in large packages. Like parsley, chard, watermelons, etc. And no one helps me eat these things so it is left up to me. I found out that I feel bad if I eat too many processed grains at a time too. I will get a yeast infection very quickly too. I had to stop baking pb cookies...
  22. Hi there , What a good idea for a thread. I thought I would add my 2 cents I am hypoglyemic and I am just learning when to eat what. Eating meats 3 times a day is helping. Especially in the morning. I can function so much better with a little BUFFALO in my tummy I eat a wide variety of "clean" foods including carbs, fruits, veggies, proteins...
  23. Thanks ChelsE, Did you see any brand names listed ? I have been wondering about all this too. I have noticed that I like the flavor of the Colavita EVOO better than the others, but I had no idea what to look for as far as nutritional content. Marcia
  24. Same as above, but I eat sprouts, raw nuts, beets, etc. Basically, anything that has a high nutritional value. I added a few herbs too, like cilantro and oregano for medicinal purposes. I am on a mission !!!! Yep, I am definitely a Type A Marcia
  25. Vinegar does the same thing to me. My doctor recommended Mother's vinegar from the healthfood store and said that a lot of people can tolerate this one for some reason. I haven't picked it up yet because I react so strongly to it that it just sounds horrible still. I copied these recipes and can hardly wait to try them esp the BBQ. Thanks ......
