  1. It is possible to have Celiac (or be gluten intolerant) and be allergic to wheat. You need to see an allergist to determine if you are truly allergic to wheat, or any other foods.
  2. Hi, here is a list of gluten-free products from their website-- Open Original Shared Link
  3. Hi--I was diagnosed last June. I still have quite a bit of fatigue. And, like your husband, some times are worse than other times. I had bloodwork done in Nov.--after 6 months, and everything including my thyroid was fine. My hemiglobin, that had been at 8 before I went gluten-free was 14.5! So in my case, it is not the anemia or my thyroid. I am trying...
  4. They address the "bleaching" on their website FAQ-- Will the benzoyl peroxide in Proactiv Solution bleach my towels or clothing? Yes. As with all benzoyl peroxide products, you may find that Proactiv Solution bleaches or discolors towels and fabrics. So make sure you wash your hands after applying Proactiv Solution...and allow skin to dry completely...
  5. Hi Jules and welcome! I'm sure you will be getting a lot of good ideas from those with small children. If she likes pasta, Tinkyada Pasta (made of rice) is excellent. Most of us here love it--it's as good as "regular". Envirodidz makes some really good cereals--in kid-friendly flavors. They also make snack bars that resemble Rice Krispy treats. Both...
  6. Thanks Ursula--it's encouraging that in the study, bone mineral density improved after a year gluten-free. Good news!
  7. Hi Lollie--I just want to wish you a fun, safe and relaxing trip! Talk to you when you get back
  8. Hi Jenn--welcome! Thanks for the info on Desert Essence! I had never heard of it, but will definately be checking it out. A Celiac chemist--wow! I also only choose products that are SLS free. I have been using Shikai Everyday Shampoo and Conditioner for the past couple of weeks. I really like it. When my hair was longer and I wore it curly every...
  9. Vincent--as was suggested, I would try your next apple peeled (I eat them that way with a little peanut butter ). It was probably too much fiber--and thats mostly all in the peel, anyway. You might also try them cooked--just peeled, sliced apples (Macintosh are best for this) cooked in a little water until soft enough to fall apart. Let cool a bit and...
  10. Hi Kim--welcome!! I was "out" for mine. I woke up feeling rested, not groggy, and ready to go home very soon after. The next time I have a procedure like that done, I will definately do the same. It was not the same reaction I had to the true general anesthetic I had for a surgery previously. That is a bit more difficult to come out of. Best of luck...
  11. Karen--A policeman was shot, and came to the ER with strange additional symptoms that the team tried to figure out. Dr Foreman went to the guy's appt. (that was a pigsty) and collected samples to check for toxins, etc. Dr Foreman begins to show signs of the same illness and is put into a quarantined room with the policeman, who is dying a painful death...
  12. Vincent and Jeny--Last night was part 1 of a 2 part episode that concludes tonight at 8 PM eastern. Next week, 5/9 is the episode dealing with Celiac.
  13. Yes. I did. I developed the rosacea during the time I used it. I don't *think* the Proactiv caused or had an effect, really, on the rosacea. (Although, who knows--maybe the cleansing grains over-stimulated my skin) There was a period where the rosecea got severe enough that I tried Metrogel (about 5 years ago)--I used it for several months, and that didn...
  14. I tried it for the first time about 2 months ago. We liked it--I made it with Ragu sauce. I should make it again
  15. After 2 hours, I begin to get the stomach rumbling, then gas, and then D. For the next 5 days or so, I have D, nausea, brain fog, anxiety, fatigue and achiness. Then, over the next few days, it gradually lets up.
  16. I always begin to get symptoms in about 2 hours. They last anywhere from 5 to 10 days.
  17. Tara--My heart goes out to you. I will never understand why people, especially those closest to us, refuse to understand. I do understand what you have had to endure--and I'm so sorry
  18. I know! That's about what I thought when I came across it. I thought it would be interesting for all of the corn sensitive here to see.
  19. I was doing some research, and came across this info. It talks about corn allergies, but lists many sources of corn--things I never thought about. Open Original Shared Link
  20. I have them both, and both are excellent. In my opinion, another "must read" for Celiacs (or anyone, really) is Dangerous Grains.
  21. Lisa--Lynne left Celiac.com. She left her email address in her last post in the thread "Where did the sex and Celiac thread go?".
  22. Believe me, I'm no expert on this, but I was under the impression that the wheat was used for conditioning purposes. Some companies use silk or soy proteins instead. I don't see how it would make the color stick--my color lasts for a good 8 weeks.
  23. I know--no dairy or gluten in the whole place!! I'll have to get busy and find one here.
  24. Funny you should bring this up! For years, before I knew what was really wrong with me, I took Claritan daily. It really did make me feel better. I have no idea how, seeing that I was Celiac all along. Back then, it was by prescription, and I would ask for it "for my allergies". The doctor would write me a Rx for 6 months at a time. I took it for probably...
  25. Chrissy--I truly wish the very best for her. My thoughts and prayers are with Tianna and your whole family.
