    ARCHIVED Frustrated!

Oh Rose--how awful . I know that feeling of wanting to reach thru the phone and strangle someone! Are you feeling any better today?
  3. Like Shirley said, it's pretty much common sense. After I make sandwiches for my husband and son's lunches, I wash my hands with soap and warm water (I use paper towels, too ). I have a dishwasher, but all of the dishes go in together. I tend to use a dishcloth instead of a sponge--I throw that and the towel in the wash every night.
  4. Thanks Carole, Cindy and Robin--I see you can all relate . I'm really going to give Carole's advice a try--when you break it up like that, and use the larger glass, I think I can do it
  5. Ha--I'm 9 months gluten-free and I haven't tried yet! I was never a big drinker, only wine occasionaly. I'm thinking when I get to a year, I may try some.
  6. Yvonne--Sorry you had to be sick for so long before discovering the culprit . A similar thing happened to me early on--I was using a hair gel that contained wheat, but at the time was not aware that I had to check such things. Luckily, I found the board about 2 months after I was DX. Anyway, I use Badger Balm. It is very effective for dry lips I find...
  7. Yes, I believe that with your positive bloodwork, you are Celiac. Why put yourself through any more testing? The best thing for you would be to make sure you're 100% gluten-free--checking everything you eat or use on your body. I hope you begin to feel better soon
  8. I find I do feel worse in hot, humid weather. I am sensitive to the sun--I can't stay out on hot, sunny days very long. I will get woozy and feel like I could faint. I don't think the weather has any effect on my GI stuff--it's more of a systemic thing.
  9. This is what I understand, also. I would not try them, however, because I used to get mild D from eating oatmeal and would only eat it if I knew I didn't have to to out that day. I would not take the chance on them now.
  10. I thought the same thing about the Lara bars! Nancy--your version sounds yummy
  11. Nini--I made your chicken tonight for dinner. My husband, son and I all loved it! My husband, also, thought it smelled wonderful when he came in from outside while it was baking. Thanks again for sharing--I know it will now become one of our favorites, too
  12. The water drinking is the one thing I know I should do, but I just don't end up drinking enough--any tips, or just 'do it'?
  13. I was able to access it--will read it tomorrow when I have more time--thanks to both of you
  14. Sounds like you had a great trip
  15. I know that Fisher Roasted and Salted Almonds are gluten-free. I called the company just last week. They also sent me their gluten-free list. If you or anyone is interested, I will be happy to post it.
  16. My favorite is Dove dark chocolate--I'm addicted to it
  17. Happy birthday, Linda Glad to hear you're figuring things out and feeling better. It takes time--I'm 9 months into it, and have finally figured out what I should and should not be eating--unless, of course, something changes! I know there's always that possibility during this long healing process, but when I look back at where I was a year ago, I have...
  18. I don't know where you're located, but I'm in NJ and I always get it either the next day or in 2 days tops. I love that about them--and that no matter how large the order, the shipping is always the same--3.99. I notice now they are offering a discount if you buy 3 of some things. (never noticed that before) The next time I order, I'm going to get 3 of...
  19. When you think about it, they do make potato flour. I would imagine that with harder veggies like carrots, it would be possible. That would be great!
  20. Because I'm off grains at least for now, I'm not using these at the moment , but some good things I discovered--Tinkyada Pasta, Gluten free Pantry Products-especially the pie crust mix, turtle brownies and the cake and cookie mix. Also Whole Foods Gluten Free Bakeshop breads and pecan pie, Envirokidz snack bars and peanut butter cereal. Enjoy Life Snickerdoodles...
  21. My sons are 21 and 24, but they were very different when it came to all aspects of development. My younger son was a late walker (17 months) and didn't completely toilet train until about age 4. He had no physical problems. I feel very strongly in letting children develop in their own time frame. I put no pressure on him, and he was just fine. Once he...
  22. Karen--I think you'll like the products! Let me know
  23. I'll bet we could have some interesting discussions about our mothers . Anyway, I do understand. Glad you got the book! Enjoy the rest of the weekend
  24. Unfortuantely, I got the same response from my family members. My sister, at least, told her daughters' ped. that their aunt was dx. with Celiac, but no one except my mom got tested. And even her doctor was not familiar with the correct panel of tests. She ended up going through her GI, but he did not give her the whole panel! She does not want to hear...
  25. Hi Laura--The name of the book is--Celiac Disease--A Hidden Epidemic. It just came out, I believe, the first week or so of March. It's great that you're a part of the group--hope you are doing well!
