  1. After reading the last few posts, I want to tell about the experience I had the last time we went to Whole Foods. My husband and I wanted to celebrate something very nice that happened regarding his career. Since we don't go out to eat because of my situation, at the moment anyway, we deceided to get some filet mignons and asked if they had any that were...
  2. I got the same email this morning, too.
  3. Never used them, but it sounds like it could be CC. The other thought I had was the maybe you are sensitive to buckwheat.
  4. I take Claritan--my Allergist considered putting me on Zyrtec, but he said that if the Claritan works for me with no side effects, I should just stay on it. I need to take it every day now because of my cat and dust mite allergies.
  5. I would not take it so I could eat a "normal" diet that contained gluten. I would consider it, however, for situations where I could be accidently glutened thru CC. Even then, it would depend on what the side effects were, and anything else I would learn about it.
  6. You know, I never thought about it that way, but it makes sense. I do fine with Lay's, Kraft and others, but have had trouble with Barbara's, and Van's to name a few. I know what you mean--it's too bad that the smaller companies that use better, organic ingredients may be at a disadvantage that way.
  7. Yes--by all means tell them you would like a copy. (notice I didn't say ask them for a copy)
  8. You guys are funny!
  9. Sounds like you are gluten intolerant to me. The tests that the doctor said were a 'little high' is a bit suspicious. We hear stories all the time where a doctor is reluctant to diagnose Celiac. All of your symptoms point to it. You may have even skewed the blood tests by going off gluten beforehand. The big tip-off, though is the positive response to...
  10. Gosh--8 days...I've only had them twice, from allergic reactions to antibiotics. I don't remember them lasting that long. I think at this point, I'd check with my doctor. Before I went gluten-free, I used to get red, itchy spots on my inner left forearm. They were different than the hives--these were tiny, red dots.
  11. From your description, they sound like they might be hives--do they look like they might be? In Dangerous Grains, Appendix D--Comprehensive List of Gluten Associated Medical Conditions, the authors list urticaria (hives). Perhaps these are part of a gluten reaction?
  12. I still get cramps in my feet and sometimes my calves while lying in bed. I can usually feel one coming on in my foot, and can 'head it off' by flexing my feet.
  13. That's how I feel about it!
  14. My doctor found 'inflammation' while doing the endo. He told me to begin the gluten free diet that day.
  15. I guess I won't use the gluten-free drug list anymore--obviously, their info is outdated. I'm so glad you called and found out for sure about the Centrum. You are right, in that it is very common to become more sensitive to smaller amounts of gluten the longer you are off of it. It is confusing, and don't berate yourself--you are doing the best you can...
  16. That is very interesting--I am currently working with an allergist. Last Friday I was tested for all of the foods and some of the other allergens. I go back in 3 weeks for the rest of the tests. The Dr. told me that the best way to determine the food intolerances is by an elimination diet. (He actually has food intolerances, too)
  17. From McNeil--letter dated January 10, 2006--The following products have been tested and do not contain detectable levels of gluten: CHILDREN'S TYLENOL-- Soft Grape Chews Soft Chews Bubblegum Soft Chews Fruit Suspension Grape (original) Suspension Bubblegum (original) Suspension Cherry (original) Suspension Strawberry (original) Cold Suspension...
  18. Rose, First of all, don't be nervous! I admit, I was before mine, but it was fine. I actually don't remember a thing from shortly after they put in the IV, until I woke up. I felt fine when I woke up--I did not have the slightly sore throat. I had a little apple juice and got up and got dressed. I felt good enough to stop at Whole Foods on the way home...
  19. I have the list that was revised 12/05--do you need the reg. products or the children's or both?
  20. I would suggest cutting out the rice for a while to see if it makes any difference to you. Rice is a grain--some people have a hard time with many or all of the grains. I am one--since I stopped eating rice and using rice milk, things have improved.
  21. According to gluten-free drugs.com, Centrum chewables are gluten-free. However, they state that Centrum Jr. may not be. As far as the dressings, some people have reactions from products made on the same lines--I can use some, like Kraft, but have had reactions to others. He could very well get a reaction from the Ken's. If the only cross contamination...
  22. Laura--Thanks for letting us know! That was very interesting
  23. Thanks Mango--I had never heard of it
  24. I used to bruise easily when I was anemic. My arms, especially, always looked terrible. I could get a bruise by just resting my arm on the wooden kitchen table. Even iron suppliments didn't help--the only thing that got rid of the bruising was when the anemia finally cleared up with the gluten-free diet. Have you been tested for anemia?
  25. Getting tested for anemia and thyroid is a good idea. Barring either of those, I find that the fatigue is one of the symptoms that takes a long time to get better. I am 9 months gluten-free, and the fatigue has improved, but I still get tired easily and am ready to go to bed at 7:30! I take a multivitamin and am very careful about gluten. I am hoping...
