  2. mrsn--so glad to hear you had a good time at WF and found so many yummy things!
  3. I saw my allergist on Friday and am in the process of having the full compliment of allergy testing done. They did foods and common airborne this time, and in a month will do the rest including a patch test for environmental allergies. I was particularly interested in finding out about nuts. Last year, I began to get a numb feeling on the roof of my mouth...
  4. The only jar sauce we like is Ragu Sauted Onion and Garlic. It is safe -- most of their sauces are.
  5. Thank you for your insight! I have changed my mind after reading through this thread this AM. I am going to order one--I will list my drug allergies and the Celiac. Again, thank you, and welcome in

ARCHIVED Good News About Bad News

Yea Claire--Not prescribing the antibiotic while he KNEW you had the H-pilori is in my opinion worse. And why do you have to chase him down for the prescription, anyway? Jeesh!
  7. Wow--that's a great idea! A professional looking gluten free cake, even if there's no gluten-free bakery in town. Carrie--I hope to be able to see pictures of your wedding and the cake
  8. OMG--when I ate dairy, I used to always eat potato chips dipped in cottage cheese! I've never heard of anyone else who did it

  10. Hi Susan, I'm truly sorry to hear about your breakup. As far as the Celiac related depression, I can tell you that I was depressed and had anxiety for many years before I was diagnosed. I can relate to feeling better relatively quickly and then back-sliding. I believe that the emotional symptoms, like the physical ones, will go through periods of an up...

    ARCHIVED Help!

Nessa--Welcome! Actually sorghum is fine for those on a gluten-free diet. Enjoy Life Foods uses it in some of their cookies and things, and it is a good alternative flour for those who are intolerant to rice. Just wanted you to know so you wouldn't have to "watch out" for that, too.

    ARCHIVED Help!

Hi--you've come to the right place! Most of us can relate to the doctor telling us 'you have Celiac Disease--go on the gluten-free diet' and not much else. A good place to start is to look over a safe and forbidden food list--there is one right on this site. Just go to the Site Index on the left of your screen and scroll down to that list. There is a...
  13. Lisa, that is TOO funny
  14. Betty--I saw my allergist on Friday. I had a whole slew of skin prick and intradermal tests (ouch!). I will be going back in a month to have the rest of them done along with a patch test for environmental allergies. He did the foods and most common allergens first. The only things that came up positive were dust mites and cats. No foods at all. I was...
  15. There has been talk of this before here. I was also wondering but I agree with the notion that if I was ever injured or ill to the point where I could not speak for myself, I would not be worried about gluten as much as saving my life. So, at this point, I would say no. However, I am allergic to many antibiotics and am not sure if that would be a reason...
  16. Yes, it is difficult for some (most) people to step up and take charge of their own health. Especially when it involves change--it's easier for them to blame it on the doctor than listen to their gut. (literally and figuratively) If a person has a problem, but keeps doing the same thing over and over, the results will never change. At some point, you have...
  17. When I have a gluten reaction, I get a little puffy, like I'm retaining water. In my case, it's all over, especially in my face and hands. My neurpoathy also gets worse and that involves the left side of my face. Do you feel any numbness or tingling in your face?
  18. You can read all about it, too! There were 3 pages of M & M 's recently-- Open Original Shared Link You have to get to post # 27 for the actual answer--but as Richard said, they're fine.
  19. YOU GO--NINI!!!
  20. I love this thread--how fun! I like to take a big glob of Smucker's Natural Paenut Butter and warm it in the microwave till it's melted. Then I slice a banana into it, sprinkle cinnamon on top and mix. It is so good
  21. Hi and welcome! It sounds very much like Celiac to me. The positive response to the diet is a viable diagnostic tool. I agree that he has been through enough already. You are doing the right thing! I took the liberty of moving your topic to the "Parents of kids with Celiac" so you could connect with more people in your situation. Best of luck and my...
  22. The last year or so before my dx, I would get them on my forearms on the inside. They were very itchy and I had no idea what they were. I have not had them again since going gluten-free. I never will know exactly what they were, though, because I never showed them to the doctor.
  23. Hi Care--I use shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion from The Gluten Free Savonnerie. You can check them out at www.gfsoap.com. Their products are gluten, casein, soy, nut, fragrance and colorant free and all made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. The people there are very nice to deal with--co. is owned by a husband and wife--the wife is a Celiac....
  24. I haven't seen it in a while--I didn't know it was still on. I could never understand how the people could actually live, eat and sleep in the "before". So gross! I do love to watch how the ladies clean and disinfect the whole mess. Very satisfying . Does anyone else wonder if the families keep the house up after the camera leaves?
