  3. These "doctor" stories never cease to amaze me. Hopefully that Aunt will get her SIL to get that child tested. Stress--zeesh!
  4. Have a wonderful and safe trip
  5. Its funny--I was wondering about the labels on the fruit, too. I just wash it off real well, but cutting it out is a great idea.
  6. I use shampoo and conditioner from The Gluten Free Savonnerie. I've been using their products for several months now and love them.
  7. I agree with having one made for your mouth if you can. Mine is small and fits perfectly--stays put all night and does not interfere with sleep. I use one on the bottom teeth--the dentist said that sometimes he makes them for the top--depends on the case. Insurance paid for 80% of mine.
  8. This reminds me of a conversation I had with my mom recently. I have an aunt, her sister, that is a retired nurse. My mom will always say "Aunt Joan said this or that", or" I'll ask Aunt Joan". (in matters of health) I said, "she was trained 50 years ago and had been retired for many years". You know what she said? "I ask her and she looks it up". My...
  9. Yep, I know--I just wanted to share my experience--you never know if anyone else is wondering about the same thing
  10. Kari--the natural and artificial flavors should send a red flag. Unless you know that a certain company will list any gluten ingredients, and not hide them in descriptions like these, it is always best to call and speak to someone. I am not familiar with Weight Watchers brand, so I don't know their policy. The safest thing to do would be to call them....

    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

  12. I have had one also. The pain was intense for several hours, and then just soreness for a few days, as I remember. Also, the area was painful or tender to the touch. I was kind of worn out after.
  13. No--I believe it was the chips. I had fruit for breakfast and my usual salad for lunch. I am completely off grains, so the only packaged thing I had all day was the chips. I had never tried them before--maybe I was just unlucky and got the occasional CC that they warned about on their website. Definately a gluten reaction--I still feel fuzzy this AM after...
  14. Just want to pass this along and ask if anyone else has had a problem.. I ate some of the chips--maybe a handful or two about 2 hours ago. It was the first time I've ever tried them. They say "A gluten free food" on the bag. I just checked their website and there they say that they are made on a shared line and they can't guarantee anything, blah blah...
  15. Hi Donna--I was diagnosed with TMJ Disfunction about 2 years ago. I clench my teeth (bruxism) both during the day and while asleep. I wear a mouth guard, it does not stop the clenching, just protects my teeth. I also have chipped and broken teeth--oddly enough no real decay. I've only has 2 cavities in my whole life. One of my front teeth is bonded due...
  16. Gosh Claire, thanks for the heads up. Sorry the doctor didn't go the extra step to find out what you are dealing with. I was found to have gastritis, too during my endo. No other info, and I have terrible reflux. I seem to do better with digestive enzymes--as usual I found that out through trial and error. I'll look forward to your info on this.
  17. I understand you being uneasy about it--I do the bill paying (well, I write out the checks ) and I always leave the envelopes for my husband to seal. I figure better safe than sorry!
  18. I didn't answer earlier because I don't get the flushes in my hands the way you do. However, before I was gluten-free, and for a while after, my face would get very hot. It would be hot to the touch--like a fever. It was not like a hot flash. My skin and the inside of my mouth would get very hot. I really think it was connected to gluten because it seems...
  19. What a good article, Claire. I know that gluten affects my mind. Now I can look back and see it clearly. I had panic attacks, depression, anxiety and paranoia. I functioned ok on the surface, but was continualy struggling with myself. Thank you for always posting such useful information
  20. Hi--Dosen't make any sense to me, either. Since you have it, I would think it would be possible for your sister to not have it but your nephew to have it. No matter what your sister deceides to do, I think that the child should be tested--he already may be having symptoms. Jeesh--I know what you mean about the doctors, why is it that they would be right...
  21. Dani--I read the whole thing (of course!) and all I can say is I completely understand everything--the "professional" who knows much less than you and is not so open to learning and most disturbing of all, the mom who tunes the whole thing out and cannot possibly believe that all of this is happening. But we know it is, and I so relate to the frustration...
  22. Michelle--mine is coming, really. I didn't think I'd have as much trouble putting it all into words. Good to know I have some time
  23. All the ins and outs of fasting are here-- Open Original Shared Link
  24. Sorry if there was any confusion about Tums--I mentioned that I had read here that they were not safe and because I thought I was losing my mind, I checked back and found it-- Open Original Shared Link Posts #2 & 5 mention it, so at the very least, I'm not nuts! I checked their website and it said although they do not use gluten as a filler, they...
  25. Zantac--I'll keep that in mind--thanks. Is that your little neice you've talked about?
