  1. Vincent--yes, that would be a good idea. Antibiotics can be brutal to her digestive system. Make sure it says active yogurt cultures on the label. And, stop trying to sue everybody
  2. Susie--you and I share a lot of the same intolerances! I will be interested in hearing what you come up with as a sub for rice flour. I am sensitive to rice, corn, soy, tapioca, legumes, tomatoes, almonds, oranges, cocanut, and even tea now! These I found through trial and error on my own. I will be seeing an allergist next week who does test for food...
  3. Yep--in my case, I suspected the milk--like I said, I usually eat dark chocolate, and stay away from dairy altogether. I had a craving for them, and ate quite a few. I only felt queasy, not like a gluten reaction, so that's why I didn't even think of the candy until I read that they might not be safe anymore and thought mmm...
  4. I'm thinking of taking these, too. Are there any situations where they could make things worse--like cause D or anything like that?
  5. "Hope you have many happy years with it...." how funny, Lynne! Kind of says it all, dosen't it
  6. HaHa--Its always a bit akward to say congrats. in this situation! But it is such a good feeling to finally know what the heck is wrong, I know. Welcome to the wacky world of Celiac--you have a fantastic attitude and you're gonna do fine Now, go back to your happy dance
  7. Kraft is a company you can trust on this. I use their Original Flavor BBQ sauce--never had a problem. I tend to have problems with a lot of mainstream companies--Kraft is an exception.
  8. Thanks Moongirl--another crisis averted
  9. Jen--Didn't you have yours yesterday? Good to see you back up and running--I trust all went well?
  10. I've noticed that I don't catch colds or viruses as much this winter, either. Actually, none at all yet--hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying that
  11. Me, too! The problem I have is that I react to all grains (that I've tried, anyway) and I just need something to use as a binder for meatloaf and that kind of thing. Potato is sort of the 'last' starchy thing I can tolerate. I love my homemade mashed potatoes too much to use a substitute Thanks everyone for the suggestions--will be going shopping...
  12. Hi Carrie--Just a thought on the Claritin D--it contains a decongestant (hence the D) which could cause palpitations, among other things. I could never take it because I have high blood pressure and have to avoid decongestants. With your heart symptoms, I would caution you about ever taking a decongestant. Regular Claritin is an antihistimine--it causes...
  13. I'm jealous of you 'weird people' --My BP started to creep up around 8 years ago. Now, I'm on 2 different meds. for it, the dr. just doubled one of them a month ago. I have to go in on Monday to see if it had an effect. Being gluten-free for over 8 months now has had no effect, for me, on my BP
  14. Carrie--I don't know if you were going to use the Benadryl cream or the oral medicine. If you need an antihistimine pill, Claritin is gluten-free.
  15. The funny thing is that I usually only eat Dove Dark chocolate. Last week, I got a craving for M&M's and had a couple handfuls. That night, I felt queasy but never suspected the candy. Jeez--not like I eat them all the time, but they are so good once in a while
  16. But still, you notice, we knew exactly what you meant
  17. Hi--I was wondering if anyone knows of any brands of instant potato flakes that are gluten free. I want to try them out as a thickener and as a filler for meatloaf. Thanks in advance!
  18. My dr. gave me a Rx. for Pamine when I was first Dx and told me to take as needed. I took it for about 2 days, and deceided to just go with any cramping I might get while I was healing. I kept it around--still have it--but never took it again.
  19. Oh Lisa--I was so hoping you would be feeling better by now. Just try and hang in there--we're all behind you here. When you make the appt. with the Gastro, let them know how much pain you're in. Also, ask that they call you right away if there is a cancellation. I'll keep good thoughts coming your way--things are going to get better, I just know it
  20. B--so glad to hear you had such a good time, sounds like they took good care of you there
  21. I get dizzy when I get some gluten also. Hate it . Another thought--have you been tested for anemia? I used to be lightheaded a lot, even fainted at work once--my red blood cell count had dropped from 12 to 8.5 in 2 months. Even my doctor doubted that it would have changed so quickly.
  22. I'm so relieved that someone brought this up! I have had the 'can't finish a sentence' problem for years. I begin a thought, and then just stop--and draw a blank. It's embarassing when the other person actually has to speak up and finish the thought for me. I can also walk into a room and forget why I went in there--and have to stop and think for a minute...
  23. That sounds like a great place, Judy! Now if we could get them to open a place over here in Jersey.....
  24. Hi Mango--I've been using their stuff for a few months now. I am very happy with them. I use the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and premium bar soap. They are coming out with a hair styling spray--they're sending me a sample to try and give my opinion. The products have no scent at all--which I like. You need to use a lot of water with the shampoo--once...
