  1. I looked at them, but did not buy because they use soy flour. Parhaps you are sensitive to soy?
  2. Hi Kate--Although it is tempting, if you need that diagnosis, I wouldn't take him off gluten--even for a weekend. He's still young, and may begin to heal even in that short amount of time (assuming there is damage there). Good luck with everything
  3. Not all Tylenol products are gluten-free. I had a conversation with a woman there just about a month ago when I called to check on their Rapid Release product (not gluten-free). She sent me the list of gluten-free products they have. If anyone nees info., let me know.
  4. Yes, and it literally means "twice baked". The dough is traditionaly baked in a log shape first. Then it is sliced and baked again until crunchy.
  5. Thanks, Ursula--I've actually been meaning to PM you because I can tell by your posts that you are very knowledgeable about this. I do seem to react to all the grains--that is definate. Legumes are ok if I eat them no more than, say, once a week. More than that, I start to have digestive problems. I cannot do soy or egg at all. Even before gluten-free...
  6. My experience is a bit different, but I thought I'd put it out there. In mid Dec., I began to have palpitations--I could both feel and hear my heart pounding almost all the time. Around the same time, I was having trouble with a lot of upper abdominal gas and reflux. The heart pounding stayed the same--no pain or skipped beats that I knew of. When I took...
  7. I just checked their website--they still say that Stax are made on dedicated lines, so they are naturally gluten-free. The cans I have at home now say 'naturally gluten free' also. You may have gotten someone on the phone who had some old info. Although, you never know--has anyone heard of any changes with Stax or Lay's?
  8. Rachel--I just got off the phone with Yvonne Hodges at Pliva. She told me that all of their products were gluten free. She looked it up to make sure. Are you feeling any better? Maybe you should call the doc to see if this is a reaction to be expected, not something worse? Let me know how you do
  9. Wow--I'm glad you had such a nice experience! It all sounds wonderful--and worth the 2 hour drive
  10. Hi--I am going through the same thing. I feel that I am intolerant to grains. I know what you mean about sticking to the produce and meats--good stuff, but sometimes I'd give my eye tooth for a sandwich or a cookie. I get gastro. symptoms and also some skin problems. I am going to see an allergist on March 3rd. The first appt. will be for a consultation...
  11. True about the different brands of gelatin--Elfkin was clearly asking about the Kraft product, as stated in her post. Sorry if I was not clear
  12. Sorry you feel so bad today --if they can get you the name without a hassle, I'll be glad to do the 'leg work' for ya.
  13. Seriously Judy--if you're going to be doing any frying with that amount of oil, please get a thermometer! If the oil gets too hot, you could get burned. Better safe than sorry
  14. Before I went gluten-free, I did have a reaction to oats. I liked oatmeal, but only would eat it when I knew I'd be home that day. It would always give me mild D--nothing terrible, but predictable enough to limit them. Stupid me, I thought it was because of the fiber and it was really doing me some good. Knowing what I do now, I can't believe I was so...
  15. I can relate to the sweaty, flu-like feeling. For years, I would think I was just prone to viruses. Out of the blue, I would start to feel sick--I didn't know why and was always being misdiagnosed when I would go to the doctor. Most of the time, I would just wait it out till the next time. I always prayed I wouldn't 'get sick' if I had a trip or important...
  16. I use Kraft Original BBQ Sauce--I really like it and have always used it.
  17. Hi Claire--Vance's is a dairy free milk substitute based on potato. I was able to order one carton to try. It comes dry, and you mix it with water. I also ordered the canister/mixer--made it very easy to mix and store. I'm happy with it. It is excellent as a creamer in hot beverages and makes good hot chocolate. It is a bit sweet, so I won't be using...
  18. Rachel--If you can let me know the manufacturer, I would be happy to research it for you--I'm getting pretty good at ferreting out generic drug info! I have found when checking out my own meds, the manufacturer's name is either on the Rx bottle, or your pharmacy can tell you who made it. I also took this drug years ago--the only side effect I had was...
  19. Gluten free / dairy free pizza----sign me up

    ARCHIVED Wildfire!

    Wow--that looks great! A nice gluten-free menu.
  21. Jello is fine--hope your kids feel better soon
  22. The best things to eat while you are healing are basic, whole foods--fruits, veggies, meats, fish, good oils, water, etc. More complicated, packaged foods should wait until you are feeling better. If you have bad days after you begin adding more foods (and you probably will!), you can always go back to the simple foods until you feel better. The pale complexion...
  23. I seem to be hungry a lot of the time, too. Sometimes, it's more than hunger--like a serious NEED for food. I thought it was my body's way of making up for all the nutrients it was lacking, but it's been 8 months--I don't want to be gaining any more weight
  24. Welcome, Sarah
  25. That's dissapointing--I really felt I was sleeping better
