  1. Dani--I understand your frustration. I am one of the 'lucky' ones that more times than not, react to things made in the same facility as wheat. I really like the Enjoy Life brand. It is free of the top 8 (I think it's 8) allergens and made in a factory with no gluten or nuts. Their cookies are great--I eat them with no problem at all. They have lots...
  2. Yes! I forgot to mention that the taste of the 'clean' chicken is better. More delicate, but a nice, chickeny taste. There is definately a difference.
  3. Don't skip the spaghetti, do what I did before I got the new strainer. Just take the spaghetti out of the pot with tongs or a spaghetti fork thing. Scoop it out, hold it over the pot for a second to drain and put it in the dish. Same result--little bit more work.
  4. I can only tolerate chicken from Whole Foods or Wegmans. There's something in the regular brands that give me cramps and D.
  5. All I can say is I've been gluten-free for 8 months and I feel hungry a lot of the time, too. When I finish a meal (substantial), I feel like I could go on eating. The hunger is mixed with a feeling of a need for more food. I really don't understand it. I hope others will weigh in on this, too.
  6. Gabby--mine is always in the left eye. It is like the lower, outside corner of my eye twitches upward. Annoying, indeed!
  7. Good! Glad to hear the book is on the way.
  8. yep--I would (and did)..I had a plastic one, too. Just didn't trust that all those little holes were clean of gluten. I got a nice porcelain one at Target--not expensive at all.
  9. Lollie--Thanks for the tips on preparing spaghetti squash. I have been thinking about trying it for a while--I think you talked me into it . PS--My younger sister's name is Michele--when she was little, they used to call her 'Lollie'.
  10. My doctor charges $5 for any paperwork that requires her signature. Imagine how much she could get for a product inquiry letter
  11. Yes--I agree with Laura, at only 4 weeks gluten-free, you are still in the early healing stage. It just may be a bit too soon to try things like corn chips. Sticking to more basic, whole foods is a good idea for now. I know it's no fun! It's not unusual in the beginning to feel better, and then start to react to things again. Keep at it, it will get...
  12. I agree--that process wouldn't break down protein. Like I said before--we're missing a piece of the puzzle, which is, HOW does any cooking or heating process eliminate gluten? I would love to know--always willing to learn
  13. The Gluten Free Pantry makes the best mixes I've tried so far, in my opinion. The Cake and Cookie Mix is very good. Also the Gingerbread Cake Mix. Their brownies are as good or better than Duncan Hines.
  14. Even if I call it 'par-fry', I still don't get it
  15. When I'm having a gluten reaction, I get anxious. The swallowing, and feeling like you are going to choke problem also comes back--although not as bad as before I went gluten-free. Back then, I would drive myself crazy while eating--over-chewing everything, so I wouldn't choke on it or have it get stuck in my throat. Happily, that is pretty much gone now...
  16. There are a lot of valid points being brought up here. It seems to be coming down to this 'panfry' issue--and I'm with Vincent when I say I'm confused as to how that process would eliminate any gluten present in the oil. I'm not saying anyone's statements are right or wrong, but I would really just like to hear an explanation from the oil people.
  17. The only experience I had with the Gluten Free Mall was recently I ordered several boxes of Enjoy Life Cookies--they were continually out of stock at Whole Foods. The order arrived in 2 days! I was surprised because the woman told me it would be 7-10 days. Have you called them again about your book? Maybe they had to wait on a reorder--if so, they at...
  18. Deborah--Several of us here use Bare Escentuals. Most of their makeup line gluten-free--their skincare line is not. You can go here to read the response I got from them-- Open Original Shared Link It's on page 2, post# 18 Both Sephora and QVC carry their products.
  19. erbetty--the regular caplets are, I should not have posted about the chewables until I actually checked. I am going to edit them out of my post until I verify. Thanks for asking the question--I apologize for the lapse in thinking.
  20. Hi and welcome! I can identify with your symptoms. Celiac can cause anxiety and depression. I got to the point where I did not want to get out of bed in the morning. I no longer felt pleasure in anything I normally would enjoy. My physical symptoms were getting worse at the time, and I felt the same desparation as you do now. I had fatigue and muscle...
  21. Sounds like that would be right up my alley
  22. The leg cramping is one thing that is still happening to me after 8 months gluten-free. It's either my calf, or sometimes, my foot. I have to get up and put weight on it for it to subside. Sometimes, all I have to do is move my leg wrong--and that will cause a spasm. The tip about being tested for diabetes was a good one. I was feeling thirstier than...
  23. Ursula--that was a good point about the starving people getting sick from the wheat that is sent to them. I never thought about that. BTW--how was your cruise? Did you have a good time?
  24. No problem--with so many posts, it can get confusing!
  25. I never said I thought they didn't--
