  1. I'm truly happy for you that you have it all together and great things are happening for you. I'm getting there, but I am taking longer to get over the resentment I feel. I know it is a waste of time to think of things that are in the past, but we feel what we feel. I think maybe its late and I'm in kind of an introspective mood. Sorry if I've been a...
  2. Well, I'm about to go to bed and I just had an apple, sliced with natural peanut butter.
  3. I really don't. I posted this thought before, but I am angry for all the years I was sick and no matter what I did or what Dr. I saw, I could never find the cause of it all. This disease has affected all aspects of my life. Family, social life, work--so many special occasions marked by my gritting my teeth to get through it, when I should have been happy...
  4. HaHa--I never knew what it was either. I used to tell the Dr. that I felt like I had a vail over my head constantly and I felt oddly detached from myself. I'm sure they thought I was nuts! It wasn't until I was DX and was learning about everything that I figured out what it was!
  5. Glad you found us, too! Happy to hear you are feeling so much better--brain fog is the worst
  6. Tiffany--Thanks for sharing that. This year I will be hosting my parents and then my husband's mom, sister, and her husband. Both our families live out of town, so any of them that visit are here for at least a few days. Your story made me chuckle because I can just see it all happening! Right about now, I hope you're getting some rest . Glad to hear...
  7. Hi--not all MFS is made from wheat. It could also be corn. There are a number of companies that will not hide gluten under the name modified food starch. Kraft, for instance, will list wheat if it is there. If you don't see gluten listed on a Kraft product (and some other companies), it is safe. Until you feel comfortable with knowing which brands will...

    Me either.
  9. Hi! Welcome in. Yes, there is a ton of good info. here. I predict you'll become addicted . When you said biopsy--yes, did you mean a positive biopsy? I believe a positive biopsy means you have it. Your symptoms would indicate that, anyway. My Celiac, I feel, was also triggered by surgery. Sorry you're still not feeling much better. Are you sure that...
  10. Hi Dani--I also find that I can not tolerate eggs, corn, soy, dairy, almonds, tapioca flour, and I find that I do better without rice. The rice is the toughie! I hope that the list is now complete, or else I will have nothing left to eat! Also, its commonly accepted here that Quaker oats are contaminated, so it would make sense that their cornmeal would...
  11. I always thought that MSG worked by making the tongue more sensitive to the taste of foods it is added to. Anyway, I agree that it is not good for people.
  12. Hi Liz--Sorry you had to go through that. Possibly, you are becoming more sensitive to gluten the longer you are off of it. Thats what happened to me and a lot of others here. Since you've only been gluten-free for 6 weeks, this sounds just about right. I'm 7 mo. gluten-free and have become highly sensitive. I have to be very careful of CC issues. As...
  13. Hi--Good luck with the procedure. I don't have experience with the numbing meds. I was asleep for mine and woke up feeling rested and otherwise fine. If I had to have a follow-up, I'd have it done the same way. I was nervous before mine (had a colonoscopy the same day) but there really isn't anything to be afraid of. The biopsy is a pretty quick procedure...
  14. Italian on both sides.
  15. Vincent--I used to love Kroger products when we lived in GA! I thought they were as good and a lot of times better than the "national brands". We're in NJ now, so no more Kroger --I use Smuker's Natural now.
  16. I agree that there are things that make it appear that the Celiac may be in remission. I had a period of feeling well for about 4 years. Prior to that, I remember the ENT Dr. had given me steroid injections for "sinus infections". I'm sure they masked the symptoms and calmed things down for a while. I also tried Accupuncture a few months before I was...
  17. Thanks --that was cool. I guess we all have excellent taste as Tinkiada Pasta seems to be a fav. of a lot of us
  18. I agree! This is interesting. I'd try it if just for the accidents and CC.
  19. No one with Celiac that we know of BUT my mom has Antiphospholipid Syndrome which is autoimmune--its a clotting problem. I had her get tested for Celiac because the Drs. also feel she may have Lupus, but have not DX her yet. She was neg. on the Celiac blood test. She also has many symptoms of Celiac (miscarrages, anemia, constipation, hair loss etc.)....
  20. Oh boy--I drink Trop. Pure Premium EVERY morning. Its my favorite. Now I wonder if when my stomach dosen't feel right during the day for no apparent reason, if thats it. What if I get a carton from the wrong facility? This never ends . Anyway, thanks Bev for bringing that to my attention. I did check with them early on and was told that packages with...
  21. Hi Mr. BamBam Jenvan has a lot of good info. on the subject in the thread titled "Zelnorm" on todays new topics list. She is post #3, I believe. Hope she finds relief soon.
  22. Yes--mine told me to begin a gluten-free, dairy free diet the day of my Endo. I saw him again 2 months later and he said to continue the same. That was in Aug. I see him again next week so we'll see what he says now. I will continue to be dairy free no matter what he says.
  23. Hi Carrie--No, I didn't. It says on her e-mail page that she reads all of her mail and don't be surprised if you get an e-mail response or see your topic show up on the air (words to that effect). Nothing yet--but I only sent the e-mail about 3 weeks ago or so.
  24. Jillian--That would be Elizabeth Hasselbeck. I watch The View sometimes and do notice that she never eats food that is made by a guest. I e-mailed her with a suggestion that they include Celiac in one of their medical segments.
  25. Hi Kim! Look at it this way: you can't do anything about what has happened BUT you know now how gluten is going to make you feel and its pretty lousy. Holiday or not, fair or not that's the way it is. Go easy on yourself and concentrate on the safe, simple foods that you enjoy. In a few days you will begin to feel better. You will keep it up and have...
