  1. Judy and Kristy--I just got off the phone with Cindy, who is a Supervisor in the Cust. Relations Dept. at CVS. She was very pleasant and told me she understood the need for a person with Celiac to know if there is any gluten present in a product. She is going to check into it, going to the manufacturer to find out for sure. She told me she thought that...
  2. I would suggest calling the Chili's and Friday's that you are considering. I think a lot depends on the staff at the individual restaurants. Recently, I called my local Friday's and spoke to a manager, who was very helpful, and told me that they would either clean a portion of the grill or use a clean pan--whichever was appropriate. She then told me on...
  3. Thanks Beth--using your ideas, I'll bet I can come up with a mix that I can use
  4. Can't wait to read it! Thanks Celiachap for bringing it to my attention
  5. You could try www.glutenfreedrugs.com.
  6. Both of your settings sound lovley. I live in a neighborhood with homes on both sides, but my back yard ends at a large cornfield where the farmer grows only feed corn. Right now, of course, the field is bare and is often full of geese--stopping for seeds, or deer. A couple of weeks ago, I counted 12 of them out there. Luckily, our yard is fenced, so they...
  7. Thanks--one more question, Do you use it alone or mix it with other flours? Could it, do you think, be used alone? That was 2 questions, I know . The reason I ask is I've cut rice out-at least for now-and I'm sensitive to soy and tapioca. I can use potato starch flour.
  8. What brand of sorghum flour do you buy? Is it difficult to find? Thanks
  9. Nikki--you could also try the refresh button if that dosen't work.
  10. Wow Shirley--you are very talented! That is beautiful work--you say it's a quilt? I like to do needlepoint, but haven't in a while.
  11. If you don't mind my asking, nikki, where are you from? Jen--The ones I have growing on my fence keep coming back every year. My backyard gets the AM sun, and they are so pretty on the mornings that they open.
  12. Very pretty--I have those growing on the fence in my backyard!
  13. I have read that any wine made in the US is safe. I'm sure people with more knowledge on the subject will weigh in soon.
  14. It could be that--I'll be hanging on to it anyway, my husband and son can always use it. Thanks
  15. I usually begin to feel the cramping begin about 2 hours after the "accident". Shortly after that, the D sets in. It is interesting to read the different answers to this question.
  16. Since this is pretty new, I called McNeil this A.M. to verify. The woman told me that this product is not on the gluten-free list. I bought it, thinking it would be ok, as the Extra Strength Caplets I normally use are gluten-free. Glad I called first.
  17. Hay celiac3270--Not only do I think that quote applies to our situation, if I hadn't seen it on your signiture, I would have used it on mine!
  18. I use Pacific Foods Rice Milk. It's good in mashed potatoes and things like that. She could use it in her meatballs and meatloaf. Some rice milks, Rice Dream is one, have gluten in them so beware of that. Pacific Foods also has a Vanilla Rice Milk, but I've never tried it.
  19. I got the same reaction from this cereal. I think it's because it's made in the same facility as cereals with gluten. Some of the other cereals Barbara's makes have oats.
  20. I had a lot of symptoms just after going gluten-free. I was terribly fatigued--like I could not get enough sleep. Also--lightheadedness, low ab. cramping, neck pain, brain fog, basically like a used dishrag the first 2 months. By the 4th. month, things really got a lot better.
  21. Thanks, Beth--Those sound great! I am going to print them out. I love easy to make recipes that make the foods I use often taste a little different!
  22. I also use olive oil for almost everything. I have extra virgin and the lighter colored type--between the two, it covers everything.
  23. Caeli--Hi Father--After reading your "sermon", I have to say that you were describing my story to a tee. The way you talked about the anxiety, the nausea when you were younger, increasing D with age, depression at times, how it all fed into itself and how no one ever put it together. I believe we are aprox. the same age and as I read your post, I couldn...
  24. I agree that you're children's symptoms after going gluten-free are most likely healing symptoms. Since you are diligent about having them monitored by the Doctor, I would now take a "wait and see" approach. After I went gluten-free, I also had a lot of dizziness and fatigue. It wasen't until the 4th. month that I began to feel better. They will get better...
  25. I can certainly relate to that. In this case, it could be an underlying factor.
