  1. Ursula--Thanks, I'm going to try and cut the lectins out again and see what happens. My eyes have been itchy and tearing like crazy the past couple of days and the stupid eczema, like I said, is back . One more question--what kind of non-grain flour do you use? I tolorate potato very well--I could maybe mix one of those flours with potato starch flour...
  2. Elfkin and everyone--It was so nice to hear of all the positive experiences at Disney World. I also teared up a little reading about your 2 year old and his own basket of rolls.
  3. It's the one in Burlington Twp. (where I live). Are there any Acme's where you are? You could even call if they're not close and check before you go.
  4. Ursula--This discussion on lectins is interesting to me. I recently cut rice and all other grains out of my diet. For 2 weeks I was eating only fruit, veggies, olive oil, and meat. During that time, the eczema that I've had for over 10 years cleared up on it's own. I began to lose the extra weight I gained after going gluten-free--which is good for me...
  5. Thank you all!--I never knew that about the orange boxes
  6. Anything from the Gluten Free Bakehouse--sandwich and cinnamon raisin breads (they freeze well), blueberry and pecan pies, pizza shell are really good. Enjoy Life Gingerbread Spice Cookies. Tinkayda Pasta. Gluten Free Pantry Mixes--their Truffle Brownie Mix is the best, in my opinion. Happy shopping
  7. I was at Acme this morning and they have restocked the GRP shelf! Fav. Sandwich Bread included.
  8. I have only been gluten-free since June, but I've been sick for about 20 years. Nausea and lightheadedness (anemia) were my main problems for most of that time. The D and other symptoms of Celiac kicked in around 2 years ago. There really was no pattern to the nausea, and back then, I was eating everything--no dietery restrictions. One thing that I have...
  9. I am currently getting night sweats regularly, but I think they are due to menopause. However, I have had night sweats since my early 30's when I was sick that I now attribute to the Celiac. The interesting thing is, the night sweats that I get when sick are worse than the ones I get now from the menopause. I can tell the difference because the ones caused...
  10. Hi Rad--welcome in! Glad you found us here. These boards and these people have been such a help to me since I stumbled on this site shortly after I was Dx. I can relate to the lack of energy--and I also gained 10 lbs. in the first 2 months. Currently, at 7 months, my energy level is better and I've begun exercising again. It'll get better!
  11. Glad you went and are now on something for the infection. I was worried about you! If you don't make a big deal about taking the pill, I bet no one will even notice Feel better.
  12. Nikki--from what I understand, you explained it perfectly
  13. Hi Maryann--According to Barbara at Pfizer--There are no gluten grains added to any of the flavors of Ludens Throat Drops. They cannot guarantee there will be no cross contamination as the product is not made in a gluten-free facility. Hope that helps
  14. I often felt flu-like symptoms and aches that would always include nausea. I would get these "illnesses" for years--Drs. felt they were sinus infections. I would try and stay "healthy". This went on for years--until my symptoms escalated about 2 years ago. It came to a point where my hands would hurt and it was hard to lift my arms.
  15. Jillian--Dove milk and dark chocolate bars and the individually wrapped squares are gluten-free. I love the dark choc. squares and always keep them in a dish so I can grab one when I need something sweet. I don't know about the hearts--sometimes candy in a special shape (for a holiday) have gluten in them when the original version does not. I would call...
  16. Nini--You are truly a girl after my own heart!! Seriously, your story is inspirational. Continued good health to you

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Rachel--I understand the feeling of not wanting to get excited after being disappointed time after time. I'll certainly keep my fingers crossed, though. Thanx for all the info. I checked out the link--and e-mailed asking if they have any recomendations for me in my area. It sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I wouldn't be surprised if this type...
  18. Yes--you should go to a doctor as soon as possible. You could have a kidney infection, and that is serious if not treated quickly. My mom was visiting us several years ago and developed your symptoms--we took her to the Dr. and he put her on antibiotics. After a few days of rest and the meds. she did fine. Please don't wait too long!
  19. That looks really nice--happy shopping
  20. I'm with Dani--these kinds of stories from those who have been gluten-free and dealing with this for a longer time are most interesting, and give us a better idea of what still lies ahead. Please--more Celiac success stories

    ARCHIVED New Doctor...

Rachel--you must be SO excited! It looks like you found that dream doctor we all wish we had. Here's hoping the tests uncover something--it sounds to me like even if they don't, this guy is going to work with you until he figures it all out. How did you find out about him? I would love to find someone like that here in NJ. Is he a GI or Allergist, or...
  22. Since Hershey's will list any gluten ingred., if they are not listed there, the product is fine (gluten wise). I have never used their butterscotch chips, but have used the semisweet choc. and the special receipe dark choc. chips with no problem.
  23. I remembered something from a while back-- Open Original Shared Link
  24. I generally don't use anything--except if I have to go somewhere, I'll use Imodium. I just drink a lot of water and eat according to how I feel.
  25. No--I had never heard of Celiac until shortly before I was Dx. (Hard to believe now!). I have not personally met anyone with it, but my husband's aunt has an in-law with it. I just heard about that last week.
