  1. No, I never took anything for it. I still get the upper ab. gas--it seems to be trapped there. I never belched/burped before I went gluten-free. I find it interesting that I do all the time now.
  2. Moongirl--the pain you described is a lot like what I had in the first few months, especially. I would feel it while eating a meal as well as after. I thought it was just that my intestinal tract was healing after years of damage, and it made sense to me that this would happen. It became less frequent as time went on, and I rarely get it anymore.
  3. Hey Tommy--I'm 7 months into it and I have the type of itching you describe. It has improved greatly since being gluten-free. Another thing you might want to try, is laundry detergent without perfumes or dyes. I use Purex Free & Clear. I would give it a bit more time. I noticed improvement after 3 months.
  4. All I know is that CC will cause me to be sick for days. I have not eaten anything that I knew to have gluten since my Dx, nor do I have any urge or temptation to do so--so I really don't know if the reaction would be the same.
  5. Hi Maureen--I remember you posting about your daughter a while back. Yes, a lot of people feel better right after going off the gluten. It's common to improve initally, and then have periods of time where the symptoms change or return on and off while the person heals. The important thing here is that to get an accurate idae if the gluten-free diet will...
  6. It happened quickly for me, also. The first month we began trying for a 2nd. child, I got pregnant with Matt.
  7. I get hiccups when I get up suddenly sometimes. Another thing that triggers it for me is coughing. To get rid of them, I focus on a object and breath deeply and slowly through the hiccups.
  8. I buy Oscar Mayer, also. They taste good chopped up and mixed with Bush's Baked Beans!
  9. Mine went down a little bit. 5 years ago, it was 228. This past Nov.--6 months gluten-free and 2 years dairy free--it was 213.
  10. Saltine crackers
  11. Hi!--Glad it's over, and you're back home. That Doctor sounds like a real peach
  12. oh--I see it now that you explain it!
  13. Hi Jen--I am wondering--After you had the tests for food intolerances, did your physical reactions match up with the test results? I am considering having allergy/intolorence testing so I don't have to wonder any more if certain foods are a problem. After having them, are these types of tests something you would recommend? Thanks
  14. Yea Rachel--I was wondering about that, too!
  15. Already posted this elsewhere, but, from my husband's aunt who knows someone else with Celiac--"After 3 or 4 years, you will be able to eat gluten once in a while." From my mil, after having explained Celiac to her numerous times: "So, do you get hives?"
  16. When glutened, I feel very anxious and even get heart palpitations. Brain fog also sets in and my head feels somewhat detached from the rest of me. I also get nausea along with the D., fatigue and thirst.
  17. Had you been feeling stedily better since Nov? If this came out of the blue, and if you're sure that you weren't glutened by something, it could be a stomach virus. Either way, 2 months is not a long time in terms of seeing great results. At that point in my recovery, which is not over yet at 7 months, I was still having those types of symptoms--except...
  18. Stephanie--I feel the same way--I've never eaten so much fiber on a daily basis as I do now, gluten-free. I've also never been this regular
  19. No, it was the bar. A lot of people use it with no problem, but I still think that it was that soap that bothered me. Maybe mine was made right after something with wheat or oats and there was still a residue on the line? Are you feeling better today?
  20. What is helping me lose weight now, 7 months gluten-free, is eating mostly meats, chicken, veggies, fruit, natural peanut butter. Not a formal diet, but a lot like the Atkins maintainence plan. What I cut is basicaly the rice breads and baked goods. I don't limit portions and am not too obsessive about it. Just cutting down a bit. Unlike in the past...
  21. I figured it was easier that way
  22. I always had trouble sleeping before I was Dx. I sleep much better now, and tend to remember my dreams more often--the dreams are more vivid and strange though. I don't know why gluten affects sleep. The itchiness, I get a lot. It dosen't matter if I've gotten gluten or not.
  23. Pretty much...
  24. Yea, Rachel, like everything else about this, it probably varies with the person. Someone should study us so future generations can know what to expect!
