ARCHIVED Bread Crumbs
livinthelife replied to Mary Ann250's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Great idea for making bread crumbs. I bought some in a box and will never make that mistake again. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to make my own! Thank you! -

livinthelife replied to Bellamia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED How To Deal With Losing The Freedom To Eat Out?
livinthelife replied to HavaneseMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It truly is a grieving process and a huge HUGE lifestyle change. I still come across foods I can't eat and for lack of a better word, I "miss" them. It's a loss plain and simple. When I found out I couldn't have my guilty pleasure gas station nachos I can't explain how sad I felt. Silly maybe but I still miss 'em! I've had both great luck and been glutened... -
ARCHIVED Say You Have Celiac Without Dx
livinthelife replied to patz16's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would say the same. Seems as if some need a diagnosis of some sort to "believe" us. They also take it more seriously... I say do what you need to make your life easier!! -
ARCHIVED Celiac Coolking Regular For Whole Family
livinthelife replied to peter/southland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I made my kitchen gluten free. I figure I cook, so I get to choose. If I don't tell them that dinner is gluten free, they don't even know most of the time. My family has a loaf of gluten bread and a couple of pots/pans they can use if they want to cook something. I keep all of this far from where I fix food. I've threatened them within an inch of... -

ARCHIVED Metamucil Issues
livinthelife replied to Newtoitall's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's funny because I always thought everything in the world was causing symptoms *but* the Metamucil. Since my diagnosis, I take whatever is 100% psyllium husk - currently Target brand - and have had good luck (pun intended!) Must be a sensitivity issue?- 8 replies

ARCHIVED Doctor Unable To Explain, Please Help
livinthelife replied to dartmania2002's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My sneaky source of gluten turned out to be supposedly gluten free chips. After I got down to my detective work because I couldn't figure out why I still had cramps and D, turns out my chips I thought were safe were manufactured on equipment that also processes wheat. It was a classic warning for me to stop processed everything. Maybe something like that... -
ARCHIVED Bad Doctor?
livinthelife replied to C-Girl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
SHEESH I am so mad that that happened to you. GRRRRRR. I say go back and stab him in the eye and we'll all be your alibi!! I've posted this before but my old GI doctor said, "You present classic celiac, but you don't have that." WHAT?? How did he know? I'll tell you how…HE DIDN'T!! He was a jacka** who kept on prescribing very expensive medicine with n... -
ARCHIVED Has Celiac Affected Your Professional Life?
livinthelife replied to CK1901's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
He sounds like a jerk. Every time we have a meeting where I work they always "forget" to order something for me and then fall all over themselves making empty apologies. I find it amusing at this point to pull out my very healthy meal while they all gorge on gluten and fat. Is that terrible??!! -

ARCHIVED Exhausted By The End Of The Day
livinthelife replied to twe0708's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Same here exactly. Same bedtimes, same husband. If I know we're going out to dinner with friends, I have to plan for it all day as far as resting, and I usually have coffee before we leave. Of course this means I don't accomplish any house stuff or errands and it all snowballs. You know how it goes, I'm sure. He is slowly understanding that I'm not... -

ARCHIVED Glutened Myself How Long Will This Take
livinthelife replied to langone7's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
3-4 months? Bless you! I usually take the better part of a week. First is stomach then eye scratching/swelling, then bathroom and brain fog, then general knock me out exhaustion, which to me is the worst. then the joint pain. And a slow stomach burn that lasts at least a week or more. I can handle that the easiest. All this makes me very careful. It... -
ARCHIVED So Sick And I Keep Making Mistakes
livinthelife replied to snugglykindness's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh man I'm so sorry you feel this bad. Been there. You need to eat whole foods with simple seasonings. Nothing processed. Not one thing. Maybe even no dairy at first. It may seem insurmountable at first, but I promise it's not. Sautéed chicken in a little olive oil and your favorite veggie. Make enough in your new pan for plenty of leftovers for the ...
