    ARCHIVED Flair Ups

What you think are celiac disease flare ups could very well be symptoms from intolerances other than gluten. You may want to consider the possibility of having other intolerances, and maybe do an elimination diet.
  2. I am afraid he has left for good. I don't really want to put the reason out in the open in a thread, because it would turn into another one of those that goes on and on and on, and fighting will break out............... I have his e-mail address, but he hasn't answered my last e-mail, either. So, I am not sure what's happening right now. He won...
  3. Oh, that is soooo cute! My little granddaughters (not the ones in the avatar, but Hanna's big sisters, Emily, 6, and Meghan, 4) are really, really into the princess theme, so I can just imagine your princess party. You do fit the Snow White image (except for your age ). I hope you had a great time at your more grown-up party.
  4. It might be another issue like the one on wheat starch. It is claimed that it is gluten-free. Too bad many people react. So, glucose made from wheat could be officially declared to be gluten-free and therefore may not need to be declared, but some people will react anyway. I wouldn't ask the company if the product is gluten-free, but specifically what...
  5. I use light buckwheat flour to thicken gravy, since I am intolerant to rice, corn and potato! But Tiffany is right, you need to have some meat stock.
  6. You're welcome. Georgie, I did a search on Armour and found their website. It is made from pork thyroid. I react badly to all pork, it's the only meat I can't eat. So, it is possible that Armour would cause an unwanted reaction in me, instead of helping. Even more reason to give the treatment I am on a good try. I really appreciate your concern...
  7. You're right, and there is another incompetent nutritionist in a hospital, of all places. Whey is definitely ALWAYS derived from milk. But do you know that casein can blunt the villi as well? And also, most celiacs are unable to digest dairy for at least six months after being diagnosed (even if they're not casein intolerant), because the tips of the villi...
  8. I am with you on this one. Real, natural maple syrup is one of those naturally gluten-free foods. Why use a replacement you have to worry about?
  9. Allison, I am seeing my naturopath again on Thursday the week after next, and can ask him if he can recommend somebody for you in Pittsburgh. Of course, you know I am in Canada, but I think they usually have lists of good collegues (just like chiropractors do).
  10. Georgie, as I said at the beginning of this thread, I was supposed to take one pill a day for three days, two for three days, and then three a day after that. Meaning, I'll be getting about 35 mg of iodine a day within three days. And yes, I am taking a Calcium, Magnesium and vitamin D supplement, as well as a B complex. What Dr. Wilson says is not that...
  11. Georgie, Dr. Wilson says that Armour isn't nearly as good, and that HIS patients are doing better than the people on Armour. My opinion is that they're both right, as in, that some people need Armour, and others do better on Dr. Wilson's supplements. As in so many things, there might not be just one solution that works for everybody. Plus, I am NOT taking...
  12. Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great day!
  13. Carla, maybe the over the counter thyroid pills you're taking are just not right for you, and possibly, you need to switch to something better, for your adrenals as well. Can't you ask your doctor to get the meds from Dr. Wilson in, so you can try them? They sell the powerful ones only to doctors. On the other hand, there are other supplements they sell...
  14. Happy Birthday, Beverly!
  15. Liz, it is possible to have gluten intolerance without actually having celiac disease. If that is the problem, none of the traditional tests will show anything. But gluten intolerance is every bit as serious as celiac disease, and will make people just as ill. The only place at this point that tests for the gluten intolerance genes as well as the celiac...
  16. Patti, you need to call and ask them to have the copy ready for you. Otherwise they might not give it to you on Thursday, because they may not have time to do it then. My naturopath took my blood pressure on Thursday, too, because I found it was too high when I checked it myself (at the pharmacy) the week before. It was normal (120 over 80). He told...
  17. Carla, it's true, you can do that, and it's certainly better than nothing. But it would likely mean that you have to always keep taking it to stay feeling well. If you would read through Dr. Wilson's website, you'd find that his treatment will restore normal thyroid function. After being done with his treatment (which may last a year, often less), people...
  18. Patti, always demand to know the exact numbers, or to be given a copy of the results. I got a copy for the naturopath (who asked me if I kept one for myself, because I should, he's a good doctor), but not all the results were in. So, I called to get those a few days later. The nurse told me that 'everything is fine'. I asked her to give me the numbers, and...
  19. Hi Emja, and welcome to this board. As the others said, it is easier than it now looks to you, you can do it. These are some of the things to look out for, to make sure your daughter is 100% gluten-free. You absolutely need to buy her a new toaster, it isn't possible to clean the old one well enough to avoid cross contamination. You can't drain her...
  20. Courtney, if I was you, I'd email Dr. Wilson to ask him if he knows of a doctor who could help you. Or if you could be treated by him long distance, or something like that. There must be a way to do this. Most doctors know nothing about this yet, I hope that medical schools catch up one of these days and teach doctors about low temps being a thyroid problem...
  21. Unless you see mold on it, it should be fine. Native Indians invented maple syrup, it was their only sweetener for hundreds, maybe thousands of years, long before refrigeration. I have my doubts that keeping it in the pantry would be a big problem, unless it's in there for months.
  22. I don't really feel any different yet. I've only started the pills on Thursday, and I'm only taking one a day at this point. Tomorrow I'll start taking two a day for three days, and after that three a day. I think by then I should REALLY notice a difference. But I found that when I took my temperatures yesterday that they have started to really go up already...
  23. Well, I saw my naturopathic doctor on Thursday. I showed him my temperature chart. And even though with the adrenal medicine I have been taking my temps have very slowly started to come up, they are still way, way too low (average still about 35.6, which is 96.08 degree Fahrenheit). And THAT is a significant improvement over my temps just two weeks ago. ...
  24. SchnauzerMom and Bearly, welcome to this board! Bearly, you will get a much better response if you start your own thread to ask your question. But if your probiotic has gluten, it is definitely a huge problem, and you need to switch to one that is gluten-free to get better.
  25. I agree with Nini. But if you really want an official diagnosis, you could try Open Original Shared Link. Their testing is much more sensitive, and diagnoses many people that tested negative on conventional tests. It would also tell you if you have the genes, and which ones. Of course, it isn't cheap. But if you don't want to put your daughter through having...
