    ARCHIVED Empathy!

Unfortunately most people do not get it....if they have not experienced it themselves. I often see post even gluten free talk about things that mess with me...and it is like salt in a wound....I get it can be frustrating. I have had reactions to "gluten free" hemp protein....nima flagged it, sent to a lab was like 16ppm....they say well the FDA says under...
  3. Grain free, low carb high fat diet is pretty good, look up Paleo and Keto meals, quite a few options. I had to give up all that and found the diet to work wonders for my life.
  4. Might have to take it several times a day...I found it helps alleviate symptoms, last few gluten exposure taking it have preventing the violent vomiting, gut pain, and motor loss.....but I have still had minor D more of really soft stools, numbness, and other quirks .....it really lessons symptoms in my experience. it is not a cure but does make accidentally...
  5. I do not mean to be rude, but are you by chance a "silent Celiac" as in no overly apparent or painful symptoms? I would not trust eating at most restaurants even if they had a "gluten free option". I have worked in restaurants, concessions, and kitchens for over 7 years prior to my dia....I would not trust some standard chain to handle foods in a allergen...
  6. I noticed after a exposure it can take about a month or more for my symptoms to go away in some areas. Others have the same thing, antibodies can take months to go down. I have seen many over the years where some take longer, if you have a tiny amount of gluten slipping in it can raise the numbers a bit. As Raven suggested double check everything, is you...
  7. Yeah the doughnut one required quite a bit of sweetener, and while there was the doughnut flavor...you sorta had to let it sit in your mouth for while and think about it it was a ending to the cupping notes but present....EASTER sale right now with $2 off each bag with them. I think I tracked down a corn free and xantham gum free cocktail sauce, but...
  8. Well as karma goes...celiac is genetic....they will go all denial but they might have it and symptoms or the gene switches on and they will come running to you for how to deal with it...keep that in mind it will give you a smile on the inside. >.> Celiac can lead to cancer....we have had members die here from cancer caused by celiac damaged and...
  9. At first yes, then I discovered grain free nut based breads and desserts, then as a bakery owner started making my own of many. Nut butters, seed butters, and baked goods made with nut and seeds are stables along with egg dishes and leafy green veggies. Found Miracle Noodle rice and noodles that are carb free. Sweeteners like Swerve, Pyure, stevia, Lakanto...
  10. Depends on where and who they source them from...I have dealt with extract and flavoring companies that can not 100% say their extracts are gluten free because they do lines of malted extracts, beer flavored extracts, etc. They use the same packing lines just cleaned between lines with chances of contamination. Again this depends on the company and sourcing...
  11. As kareng mentioned you do not need a new microwave...I often just put a paper towel down on the bottom and use the nordicware splatter covers over the grill plates and even over reheating plated foods. If you need to Appease them with a safe spot you can get a fold out card table and as mentioned use butcher paper for a clean disposable place mat.....
  12. With Celiac we react to the gluten protein which is smaller then a germ...cleaning it off stuff is like trying to get blood off where a CSI tech will not find it. Bleach does not kill gluten.....500F + will so stuff you put in a oven self clean cycle can be decontaminated(Cast Iron). But some thing are a must, like new and dedicated colanders, toasters, etc...
  13. I talk about it all the time...like to everyone...part of my autsim and other mental issues compound it. But I believe in educating people in this disease, and often by some grace of god the people I feel compelled to go up to at random.....always have some form of dietary issues I can help with..>.> Tends to be people in the gluten free section at...
  14. Could be....quite frankly the gluten free diet is not that bad now if you eat only at home...they make gluten free everything. But to you question about testing, it is quite simple if you have active lesions they take a biopsy BESIDE the lesion not on it and test that. Hear you can read it here Open Original Shared Link
  15. Well I just found a shrimp ring at whole foods for $8.99 for a 16oz one....tossing the questionable sauce. Does anyone know of any Cocktail sauce thats gluten, corn, and xantham gum free? I found Trader Joe's but it has xantham gum...did not make me puke oddly when I tried a bit but I want to play it safe. So looks like we are having shrimp with our Easter...
  16. What brand, there have been issues with some finding gluten grains in edisons grainery gluten free grains and lentils. If you buy dry food like those you should dump out on some butcher paper etc, sort the grains looking for anything not what it should be, wash in a grain colander well, then cook. >.< I have Ulcerative Colitis and for the longest...
  17. Get you own prep area in your room...fold out table, mini fridge, microwave with Nordic Ware omlette makers, rice cooker, steamer, grill plate + splatter cover all microwave cookware. Perhaps a griddle, rice cooke/crockpot combo. Anway you own cookware and mixing bowls and clean you stuff in tubs or the tub and avoid the whole family crap.....hate to say...
  18. Well I got a ton more issues from the damage and complications your quite lucky so far with only dairy... I can not have dairy, soy, peanuts, allergic to corn now, slight issues with olives, xantham gum heck I got another AI disease as a complication...that will not let me eat the sugars fructose or glucose and reacts to carbs in general....yeah so no grains...
  19. toasted barley beverages are often made by these companies as a coffee alternative. The line that makes that one probable does them on rotations. Amusingly enough I do go with Taster's Choice as a back up for my Christopher Bean flavored coffee. But hey you want to hear weird...I found a can of matcha green tea at trader joes that contained xantham with wheat...
  20. OH Sir Kingstons was the one with the spicy brown mustard not organicville....most sir kingstons is free of corn and xantham if I recall. >.< They have a secret mayo sauce I used to get while back...might see about grabbing some if still safe. Never heard of being told to avoid guar gum...stuff is from a root, and hypoallergenic. >.< Personally...

  23. Hi welcome to our little family, bit of a heads up the diet is much easier to manage if you stick to unprocessed foods and keep from scratch with whole foods. Bit more trouble bit worth it for the piece of mind, omlettes, stir fry, soups, stews, baked meat, sauteed/steamed veggies, baked/mashed/roasted potatoes, crock pot meals, and if checked, sorted and...
  24. Unfortunately she has a severe reactions like me to straight up exposures....or like I used to. I used to lose full body motor control and collapse, this was from a form of gluten ataxia. I had to give up eating out aside from a few places. I cook and eat at home and my house is 100% gluten free. I take my own food with me or meal bars when I head out. The...
