Ennis-TX replied to Oxx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Half my family is also hispanic.....worse part is I did not get diagnosed til my immune system got other issues....including a extreme allergy to corn...yeah I wish I had changed earlier....I will forever never be able to have my grandmothers tamales, and many other dishes...>.< I did find a way to make enchiladas with almond flour tortillas but the... -
ARCHIVED Reactions To Enjoy Life Products
Ennis-TX replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Other food intolerance issues is not uncommon with this disease, many of us get them. I get rolling intolerance myself, but my thoughts are on perhaps you have another issue. How are you with sugary foods? Gas and bloating can be caused by gut bacteria going a bit rampant, if you have a SIBO or Candida overgrowth set it then they would react to sugars this... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge- Vital Wheat Gluten
Ennis-TX replied to CGorman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We had another member that did this for a gluten challenger, will work great and even eliminate any chances of anything else causing a reaction....Side thoughts, just take the stuff by the spoon. This way you avoid CCing your gluten free house/kitchen/appliances...this method would ensure no crumbs, residue etc. get around your food prep area for when this... -

Enjoy life just did a repackaging on all their lines. All enjoy life foods are now made in teal packages. ARCHIVED Weight loss shakes
Ennis-TX replied to Deades's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Go for high protein fat, fiber shakes to maintain muscle and force your body to burn fat for fuel. No/low carb forces the body into a ketogenic state and then pulsing down to below you needed fats for constant fuel leads you body to trim out. I never get to the stage of having to pulse them down but that is the basis to my diet. MRM Veggie Meal replacement ... -
ARCHIVED Shakeology -- safe or not
Ennis-TX replied to Deades's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Worry would be in CC...I make my own mixes, egg white omelettes where I choose the fat ratios with cocont/almond flour, flax/chia/pumpkin ground seeds, nut/seed butters and leafy greens of choice. I also personally I keep MRM Meal replacement, Julian Bakery Bars and this one smoothie mix Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED GLUTEN FREE VITAMINS
Ennis-TX replied to SLG's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Liquid Sublingual so no pills, you just measure out and add it to beverage of choice. I use the Stress & Energy and Neurological support 1 tbsp each 3 times a day. Perhaps half that for kids. OR get the childrens multi. You can find them on Luckyvitamin.com and amazon. I get them at the cheapest and watch both sources. Liquid forms are much easier absorbed... -

ARCHIVED Steak 'n Shake Milkshakes
Ennis-TX replied to NikolasJackson's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
He might know something and be scared of CC. There was a HUGE issue a few months ago in the food industry (article was on retraunt news sites) where a girl went into anaphylactic shock from a dairy allergy on a vegan milk shake....the machine had been used for a dairy version and cleaned but not enough. Brought up a whole can of worms with CC and legal issues... -
Many times with celiac disease the anxiety is intensified by nutrient deficiencies in things that effect our nerves, brain and mental well being. Common ones are the full B-vitamin spectrum, vitamin D and magnesium. Look for stuff like Natural Vitality Magnesium Calm, start with small doses 1/4tsp and work it up over a few weeks to the full dose. Liquid...

ARCHIVED News: Celiac.com: Why Gluten-Free Diet Is Bad For Your Health!
Ennis-TX replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
The section quoted for this opening is very misleading lol. Also bad article, and the whole bad points on it only effect complete idiots that try to replace their entire diet with the cheap gluten free treats loaded with rice, tapioca starches, and sugars......MOST of us oldies here know nutrition and will avoid the higher starch alternatives and look for... -
ARCHIVED Need your analysis
Ennis-TX replied to CeliacMan2112's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ditto on the above advice, ditch the dairy and oats. Go whole foods only, and keep a food diary. Many find other food intolerance issues arise, and have to remove other foods for a while. I turn to soft omelettes often, 2 parts eggs, 1 part nut milk, few tbsp of seed meal or nut meal, blend it up for a base (Personally go 220g egg whites, 100g nut milk, ... -

ARCHIVED 9 year old glutened an hour ago - any way to mitigate?
Ennis-TX replied to robin2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
All the above, go with soft easy foods for awhile, blended soups, smoothies, Avoid acid foods (burn comeing back out), Avoid Diary (gas, bloat, temporary intolerance is common), AVOID Starchy carbs and sugar they will cause more gas, AVOID spices they will burn. GO with simple creamy soups smoothies with stuff like a full fat coconut milk base, nut butters... -
ARCHIVED Post-diagnosis depression
Ennis-TX replied to mewnicorns's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
LOL your thinking about it wrong, you do meal prep bland no seasoning or neutral, STOCK up on many different spices, and flavors like flavors from capellas seasonings from Spicely organics, sauces form coconut secret, organicville, Heck if like me and miss meats, I grabbed some chorizo and sausage seasonings from The Spice House and seasoning each meal differently... -

Ennis-TX replied to mewnicorns's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED Recovery time
Ennis-TX replied to franklinsang's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Took me a bit over 2 years to start doing 14+ miles a day, I mostly power walk but now been gluten-free for over 4 and am currently body building. I do keto/low carb myself, no dairy, sugars, grains, carbs. and some issues with meats still. Mostly a nut, seed, leafy greens, vegan protein powders, and eggs. I will admit still not my childhood energy level... -
ONE other update and interesting test. I had considered that I might have a lectin intolerance or a histamine issue. I tested this out by finding a high lectin low histamine food like sunflower seeds grinding into a butter in my stone mill and trying to eat it in large amounts for a few days.....less of my violent reactions I expected. In fact it sat VERY...

ARCHIVED CRISPR Gene editor Can cause immune reactions
Ennis-TX posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been watching the research on the CRISPR gene editing program for awhile with hopes one day we can remove the genes and turn off the gluten reaction in celiacs by editing the genes it. Seems things just got a bit more complicated here is the article. " Immune reactions against proteins commonly used as molecular scissors might make... -
Any gluten free bread/roll mix option for non-baker?
Ennis-TX replied to mystic's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Unsure here, I like my own roll recipe quite a bit, but it is made low carb, still the closest thing I have ever gotten to those heat and eat yeast rolls from my child hood without yeast, starch, carbs, gluten, or dairy. Can be made softer by cutting the psyillum husk in half, but I made it with that much to simulate those tough rolls from thanksgiving... -
SLOW you actually do not really notice it til you think back on how you felt a few week/months ago. For me the numbness/blanking issues get worse as my antibodies go up and improve as they go down....the actual brain damage and sensitivity has gradually improved constantly it seems over the past few years. Still spikes back up with exposure and antibody spikes...

Still got a few issues lingering from that glutening issue...onions are still off the menu...as are spices. SO my mexican rotation of cuisine is put off and sticking to Italian herbs and keeping it easy. I have learned a few new things diet wise. The whole "what floats on top of my stomach will be puked up later" concept has been applied with a new testing...
