ARCHIVED Recently diagnosed and clueless
Ennis-TX replied to CluelessCeliac's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You probably need to supplement on those B-vitamins til you heal I use Liquid Health Stress and Energy and the Neurological Support 1tbsp each 3 times a day before a meal, they are liquid so you just mix them in a drink. How is your BM? Do you go daily? If you have constipation/hard stool I would consider Natural Vitality Calm with small doses 1/4 tsp starting... -
ARCHIVED Question About Food Stamps...
Ennis-TX replied to littlemonkeys's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Your responding to a post from 2004 over 14 years old. I will admit it is hard, and there was a thing where you could file for gluten free flours/breads as a medical tax write off on your income tax. But aside from that not much help. I get food stamps but they do not take into account celiac as getting you more or even a disease that shows up on their records... -
Various aspects....yes. I try to set goals and find ways to make myself feel useful. Tell myself I am needed for this, needed for that, look over who benefits from my knowledge and info. Try to do work around the the house "nesting?" after doing something I always feel good about it and try to recall that feeling. Music that makes me feel like a warrior or...

ARCHIVED Ground beef
Ennis-TX replied to lilo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sort of a rare occurrence and many do not want ot think about it or worry about it. I buy ground turkey often from jenny-0 I get ground longhorn from a local farmer I know well who only processes longhorn raw burger and use it in my chef work. You really only have to worry about chain store and small butchers FRESH made ground packaged meats, I personally... -
ARCHIVED Condition worsened after gluten free diet
Ennis-TX replied to a91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It does get a bit worse as your system clears out and your antibodies come down, you will also get more sensitive and many of us went through a withdrawal stage on the levels of a opid withdrawal. Few things to consider, read the Newbie 101 thread to make sure you decontaminated your cooking space, IE new colander, threw out scratched pans, wooden spoons... -
I think GFWD did a article on how much is 20ppm in relations to gram servings. Also you need to consider as 20ppm is the maximum allowed limit...you recall that issue I had with the "gluten free" hemp protein that lab tested at 16ppm? I was having 2-3 servings of that a day and took days to get symptoms, and oddly none of my violent ones showed. I have seen...

ARCHIVED Leg pain
Ennis-TX replied to Will1978's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah look up Magnesium Deficiency, it is common with celiac disease. Celiac disease damages the gut and causes nutrient absorption issues. The tight muscles and cramping legs is probably magnesium and perhaps b-vitamins. If you have constipation or do not have a BM at least once a day go with Natural Vitality Calm starting with 1/4 tsp a day and up it slowly... -
ARCHIVED Breakouts After Fasting and Low Carb Diet
Ennis-TX replied to Foosball Is The Devil's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Shocks to our body and immune system to indeed cause our system to be more on guard and react more violently to even trace amounts of gluten, also with this disease a further shock to the system can cause food intolerance and allergies to come out as our already confused immune system might go a bit wacky. I myself consume a keto/low carb diet to work with... -
ARCHIVED Marian mcdermott
Ennis-TX replied to Marian mcdermott's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Whole foods are simple...I know with blood sugar issues that the cheap stuff like rice, poatoes, fruits all have to be eating in moderation. Try going with low glycemic stews and homemade soups in crock pots, you can use disposable liners to prevent contamination if you can not afford a new crockpot. Try going with stuff like omelettes, scrambles, baked chicken... -
ARCHIVED Mary Kay face wash
Ennis-TX replied to Momma2PirateNPrincess's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
From this I further can not even find a ingredient list on pictures of the bottles....I would not trust them. Just toss it and get something that is trusted, I use ACURE face washes myself. If your in doubt throw it out. -
ARCHIVED Ora Ida French Fries
Ennis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Used to years ago no issue, do not do carbs any more for other AI issues. But I cook with them as a chef. Ora Ida is one of the few french fries you can trust that have performed quite well with the celiac community, I suggest their plain fries, and hash-browns to those who can still tolerate carbs. Some celiacs react to nightshades or have carb issues like... -
Maple syrup will geneerally be alright, gatorrade is, spices...spices are common to get CCed I use 3 brands. Spicely Organics look them up are certified gluten-free, Big AXE Spices, are gluten free blends with VERY flavorful punches, and The Spice House makes some....but damn everything is so SALTY from them. I composed a bit of a list of foods etc. We...

ARCHIVED Eating gluten w no probs after 11 yrs gluten-free - thoughts?
Ennis-TX replied to Elli-'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have to be eating it for weeks before it shows up on a endoscope...you want to get tested again? Do a gluten challenge your starting it right, 12 weeks of gluten daily then get the blood test and following endoscope. Maybe your first Diagnosis was a mistake? This disease does not go away, heck you might have to consume the stuff for a few weeks before... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Meal Replacement
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not touched the RAW meal in years, I only mentioned here cause I had tried it previously. I would not drink it now days. I still would recommend Pioneer Celiac Meal Replacement, MRM Veggie meal replacement and I found this one from drinksmoothielife that works alright. I use the drink smoothie life and the Pioneer one sometimes as a additive to my... -
As mentioned above check out the newbie thread, also a few simple and easy ways to prevent CC issues, get new microwave cookware like the nordic ware omlette maker, steamer, grilling plate (with cover) rice cooker etc. Cheap easy and disposable if you mess up with that price. Crock pot liners will make preventing CC and doing stews in a crock pot easy with...

ARCHIVED Constipation
Ennis-TX replied to selectivefocus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Fructose, glucose, etc. triggers my Ulcerative Colitis. I can not eat it...keto diet no fruits, grains, starchy veggies, just nuts, seeds, leafy greens, egg whites, vegan protein powders etc. I just go for a high fat/protein diet. Works best for my body and I feel much better. Every time I go off it and have a tiny bit I have tons of issues.... I doubt aborobtion... -
ARCHIVED Constipation
Ennis-TX replied to selectivefocus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
LOL reason I say get the calm formula in the powder and start at 1/4 tsp (1/8th the dose) You can measure and dose it as your body needs if it is in a powder. the whole capsule "TAKE THIS MUCH" does not work for everyone....heck I found I have to open capsules and only take half doses of some things to work and up to 4x the dose on others to work. Everyone... -
ARCHIVED Constipation
Ennis-TX replied to selectivefocus's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Natural Vitality Calm uses Magnesium Citrate, I take it in a warm glass of liquid. Try 1/4tsp and work up over a week til she has loose stools then cut it back a bit so she has standard BM. Magnesium Deficiency is common with this disease and constipation can be on of the symptoms, along with in SOME cases, tingly arms, cramps/painful legs, lack of dreams... -
Even if you test negative for Celiac, and followed through got tested properly as mentioned above, NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) is a real thing. We have many members who have it with obvious reactions sometimes even worse then a normal celiac ranging from neurological, inflammatory and gut issues. I am sure one of our regulars with this issue will...

ARCHIVED Newbie to the site... Help!
Ennis-TX replied to GFforever's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I myself have many food allergies and intolerance issues. Some resolved on the gluten free diet for treating celiac, after a few years as the celiac caused my immune system to freak on somethings it seems. You can check my profile for my list....BTW your doc does not load. Anyway I also have some odd allergies like corn, whey, and violent vomiting reactions... -
ARCHIVED Could I be getting glutened??!
Ennis-TX replied to ElianaY's topic in Super Sensitive People
Consider a full on gluten free house....no wonder your getting sick. I could not live in a gluten house, even on a gluten-free diet I kept getting glutened by others and had to move out. Stuff got everywhere, and I would CC my own stuff from the oddest things, like gluten residue on handles, crumbs falling in drawers, that dang couch corner they would spill... -
ARCHIVED Supplements
Ennis-TX replied to Danarae's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know many need magnesium and the full spectrum of b-vitamins niacin, iron, D, C and folate can be others. IF your asking for a targeted celiac vitamins/shake Pioneer Labs specializes in a celiac shake and vitamins. Personally I use Liquid Health for most of mine as I like the liquid in a drink concept over adding more to the handfuls of pills I take. The... -
ARCHIVED Could I be getting glutened??!
Ennis-TX replied to ElianaY's topic in Super Sensitive People
Second hand contact inhaled flour from laundry....umm bit out there but not impossible. I have gotten glutend from walking through a bakery area at a store. If your husbands clothes are like caked in flour with dust flying up when you move then yes I can see this. Thing is flour can stay airborne in a bakery for hours, you inhale it and it gets stick in the... -
AVOID it, it uses Brewers Yeast from beer brewing....as in not gluten free. Go with Liquid Health Supplements instead. And Nutrional Yeast which is different is a great source of vitamins. I use KAL for this.

ARCHIVED I'm still here! Xantham Gum
Ennis-TX replied to ksymonds84's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Porcine based pancreatic enzymes are not created from mold.......while probiotics can cause issues for some...fact is many of them are already present in your gut.....and without them you would die. Probiotics are as much of your bodies immune system as anything else, on a side note many extras you take are grown and mixed with questionable substances and...
