  1. The damage to the villi could have been patchy and if they didn't take enough random samples the May have missed it.
  2. No, but beanitos makes a really good nacho cheese flavor that is gluten free
  3. I would bring my own or disposables. The dish sponges or dish clothes will be covered in gluten. And sometimes I pull soiled dishes out of my own dish washer after washing. So not sure I trust that either
  4. Interesting. I tried the same thing, not only hoping to lose a little more weight, but hoping the increased fat would improve my constipation problems. It didn't and my stomach just didn't feel well. I feel better just doing my low calorie which is pretty much automatically lower fat in order to save calories. I also found all that flax didn't sit well with...
  5. I agree never buy from bins. And everyone's reaction to gluten is different it's hard to tell. I retain fluid from accidental glutening. If I suspect I've been glutened the scale will confirm it for me. Up several pounds. Retention from increased inflammation. So your reaction would not be a clue for me but that doesn't mean it isn't for you I would stick...
  6. Wish I knew. True celiac and been strictly gluten free for 4 1/2 years, I take miralax and mag citrate every single day as well as pro and pre biotics, just to go somwhat normally. My diet is as perfect as it can get. I get enough fiber AND enough fat So let me know if you discover the secret
  7. I buy gluten free beans given a choice, but I also buy regular ones that I sort and wash the heck out of Just take care to wash multilple times I haven't been able to find black ones labeled gluten free, for example, so I wash.
  8. Pay close attention here. He is your boyfriend, not your husband, and already he shows this much lack of concern for your health because it is inconvenient for him? My husband chooses to eat mostly gluten free for my sake. I didn't have to ask. He does eat some gluten but is mostly when he eats out or some pre packaged gluten items. He even eats my gluten...
  9. I agree with kareng, I was diagnSed at 53,, and of course like all celiacs, I have good and bad days, and days I struggle with joint pain and fatigue, but I am still able to work full time as a nurse. I have, however, taken a job that doesn't require heavy work, I'm 58 now and don't think I could still do bedside nursing, but I am very active and exercise...
  10. Sure you could be sensitive to FODMAPS, but also consider getting your B vitamins checked. My B1 and B2 were unmeasurably low, and they affect you neurologically and muscle weakness. On a positive note, now, 4 1/2 years later I only supplement with a MVI and my B's are okay. Takes a long time to heal the gut.
  11. Hmmmm, thinking.....thinking...... I do see why you initial reaction might be some offense, but he poses some interesting questions that are worth considering. I've been very interested in reading that gut bacteria, or lack thereof is the problem that triggers our celiac. We are just too clean!! Not that I'm going to go eat dirt. But still , food for...
  12. I'm really picky about my diet, but I have continued to use my kitcheaid with its stainless steel Bowl. I got rid of my bread machine but I had a cheaper one. I would think Though that with a very scrupulous cleaning and a brand new bread bin, that it would be okay, as long as the dough hook is part of the bin replacement
  13. Breyers has about 30 flavors labeled gluten free now, and Haagen das has a website showing gluten free flavors
  14. Pursue this like a demon and don't be swayed. I DO know how miserable DH is! I'm not sure about DH people not coming back positive on blood work. I am positive blood work and biopsy. But depression is also part of the picture so it's very easy to let people make you feel like you are over reacting when in reality, THEY don't want to be inconvenienced by...
  15. I was diagnosed a little over 4 years ago. I had been to the doctor complaint of intense fatigue, terrible joint pain, daily headaches, in fact I too had no idea that having my head hurt constantly wasn't normal. I can't say I was exactly depressed, but I did have a very firm belief that I was not going to live much longer. What he found first on my blood...
  16. It's pretty common, I actually was diagnosed with Hashimotos first. Just make sure the meds you take for it are also gluten free. Biggest problem really, is that you won't always know if the fatigue and joint pain comes from a accidental glutening or from under treated thyroid. Otherwise, it's really not a big problem for me to manage both It takes a few...
  17. Actually there a whole slew of nutrients, including iron that could be causing fatigue. Also, like others said, it really takes time to feel well for some, although I STARTED feeling better in about a week. Just not complete relief even now, four years later. What puzzles me, is it sounds like you DONT have fatigue in other aaspects, if I hear you right?...
  18. Yes, you have to make sure you buy gluten free ground corn products of all kinds. They often make their corn meals in the same factory as gluten flours and risk of contamination is high
  19. Some of takes time and education for your friends. Friends who are worth, will learn to get it When we have work parties there are efforts by my friends to include safe foods. I always bring my own safe contribution. Everyone is used to me reading every label so they will actually save labels for me. They also let me fill my plate first to avoid my risk...
  20. The King Arthur crust turned out great for me but I put it on parchment. I put it straight on metal before and the same thing happened. But on parchment it browned nice and crusty and fluffy.
  21. And my daughter has NONE of it. Only anemia and vitamin deficiencies. Of course she is still young
  22. I think those are a lot of red flags. And not all celiacs have bad belly pain. Some of us have terrible bloating, gas pains and constipation. I think your thyroid needs checked as well
  23. Coconut oil. Inside and out
  24. I think she should stick with it and get the diagnosis. As time wears on, and she feels better, she may fool herself into thinking it's okay to have gluten if she wants to because she isn't a "celiac" because she doesn't have the diagnosis. Plus, as treatments come dOwn the pike, she may not qualify for them without a actual diagnosis.
  25. Danielle walkers "against all grain" has a cashew flouR waffle I love. She grinds raw cashews but I just use cashew flour from Nuts.com
