  1. Big Mac sauce as I remember it from working there, is a really thick version of thousand island dressing. I am pretty sure that the french dressing would give it a pinkish hue. There really isnt much of a difference between thousand island dressing and the sauce.. but I was 15 at the time.. forever ago, so dont go on what I say.. that recipe sounds like...
  2. I just bought Kefir for the first time from Whole Foods, it was like a thick yogurt, but you could drink it. I am not sure if this is what you all are talking about. The one I bought was strawberry flavored and lots of probiotics in it which is what made me try it. Then of course, my dairy issue started, so I havent had anymore than a small taste anyway...
  3. This meal sounds fantastic! I am glad it worked out great for you. Its a good feeling isnt it?? and I would love that chocolate cake recipe too!! YUMMMMY

  6. I havent yet encountered a problem at the bonefish.. and btw, I love Lilys Chicken.. it says right on the gluten free menu, do not get veggies, instead of asking for mine steamed, I just leave them off entirely, which is odd for me as I eat veggies with every meal. I am glad you only got a little bit though.. when my mom brought a plate home for me on...
  7. Oh, I will be there deb! I can hardly wait!!!
  8. I have been gluten free for over a year and a half now, and I just am seeing a sensitivity to dairy, in large quantites. I am able to eat a few pieces of cheddar cheese.. but I have to limit that to my only dairy intake, otherwise I am in the bathroom. I was told on here that it is making me sick, but it isnt harming my body like gluten does.. so, I still...
  9. I have never seen a symbol or anything.. when it came to my scripts, I actually called from the hospital when I was diagnosed. I called the companies directly that manufactured my meds.. they were all very helpful and answered all my questions. I know there is a website that will help with meds being gluten free, its a list, I am not sure where it is...

    ARCHIVED Chop

CHOP is wonderful! We have appts there every 6 months if not sooner. They are watching Colin closely until he is 5. Just incase something might creep up from his premature birth. They really are a godsend. I love it there. I know its weird to love a hospital.. but if you have to go and you are in the area, take your kids there, they have a regular ER...
  11. Glad to hear it! Its a good feeling isnt it?? I always right headquarters and usually get something like a gift cert for another visit...

    ARCHIVED Chop

Oh, I will keep you all posted. If you go to the site, check out celiacs, and meet the team, Colin is seeing the head of the whole dept.. The appt has been made for over a month and a half now and we still dont see her until June 18th! So its a major wait, but I dont know if thats the same for all the docs or just her.. I didnt request her specifically...

After all this time, we finally found out that CHOP in Philly, where my son goes regularly, is now a leading center for celiac disease in children!! This is great news for us as we have an appt to see the chief of the center in June.... here is an excerpt from their webpage.... Overview The Center for Celiac Disease at The Children
  15. I have heard that celiacs, even with gluten free oats, can have trouble digesting them. It was recommended to me, when I bought my expensive bag, but its big, of gluten free oats, only to have a bit at a time, and only like once a week to start.. our bodies arent used to digesting that type of grain anymore (or something like that) but basically to take...
  16. I will be at the one in Staten Island, NY on April 29th I believe.. anyone else??
  17. sounds terrific, I will trying this one!
  18. Ok, dairy experiment last nite... I guess I failed. My b/f gets Mickey D's every Monday nite usually, he bowls and gets home late and that is the day I make pasta and all the stuff he wont eat but me and Colin do... so he does his usual, brings me home a vanilla shake, sweet of him eh? So, I drink not even half of it.. its actually too late at nite...
  19. Granted I only started using artifical sweetner Splenda in my iced tea a few days ago, but I havent noticed an increase in wanting more sugar. Like I said... so far. I used to use those canned iced tea mixes which are all sugar! Now I brew my own tea and use the Splenda, it did take a day or two to get used to it, and its a bit of a pain to make myself...
  20. I understand what you went through. I tried to get foodstamps for me and my son. We are on permanent disability and are on a fixed social security income. I know this is better than some, but it isnt much when you take in rent and doctors visits, the "system" doesnt seem to realize that a $20.00 copay can make or break me some weeks. I finally got PAAD...
  21. yucky.. sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad, sometimes it takes something like that to happen to get us reminded that we cant touch anything, especially food, that is near or on something gluten!! I get burping too, heartburn, and all that stuff.. it doesnt taste like rotten eggs, but its there..I think it is just a side affect for the gluten.. ...
  22. ooopsss... Thanks Jessica.. its been so long since I have read them... I best check up on them again..
  23. I have to agree, I crave sugar moreso than ever. I used to like a dessert after dinner now and again , when I went out only. Now its like all the time.. I cant find enough new things to bake that are sweet and sugary.. found these lovely layer bars from a lady at my celiac group, nice and sugary sweet and now I have found cinnamon rolls, like the ones...
  24. ummm, did I miss something? are you not allowed to do that on the board?
  25. At my first wedding, the head table only consisted of the bride and the groom at a round table, a small one.. the wedding party, which was HUGE.. sat with their families and signifigant others.. we gathered in a lot of places for pics, plenty of them with all of the wedding party.. 21 in all... so we didnt have the issue of flower girls sitting with us and...
