  1. I eat Polar tuna - all natural solid white albacore, water, salt. Pretty inexpensive too. I saw Progresso had one in olive oil but it was very pricey.
  2. Yes, it could always be worse. I remind myself of that a lot. But it still doesn't mean that what we deal with on a daily basis doesn't suck eggs!! Judy - I"m glad you're home safe and sound, try to enjoy the company. At least you're HOME!
  3. I hate always having to know where the bathroom is! And that I'm always worried I won't make it. I hate always having to be prepared w/ foods or check out where I'm going. I hate that I'm paranoid eating out - even at my mom's. I hate that I'm paranoid whenever I try a 'new' food. I hate having to read every label or call companies I'm worried about...
  4. Yes! That's so weird. My ex used to tease me so bad - we'd be sitting outside and not one would come near him and I would be positively ate up by those buggers. And they would turn into giant red welts, not just your average little bite.
  5. First let me say it's so great that you are supporting her like this! I could not have gotton this far without the love and support of my family. Her moods can also be caused from the withdrawel from foods, but also mourning her past life. It's a very hard transition to make, esp. for a 17 year old. I was 37 and it was hard as heck, some days it still...
  6. I was very impressed with all the staff at the park, especially the restaurant! I think we were at the Seafire Inn - but here's the link with more info: Open Original Shared Link Have a fun trip. Oh, and don't sit in Shamu's splash zone if you're wearing a white t-shirt.... I speak from experience
  7. I've heard of this place and after reading this article I am definiately going ASAP! Take-out gluten-free pizza??? Check out this great article in the Detroit Free Press Open Original Shared Link
  8. Puhleaze... my friends at work tease me about having the bathroom to myself after lunch Also my secret tip is that if I'm in a meeting and need to excuse myself, I act like my pager has gone off and say "oh, it's my daughter's school - I'll be right back". (If you don't have little BamBam's this won't work for you though!!)
  9. My nails never used to grow long - yes, squishy I suppose and they would peel rather then break. Now they grown so long I have to keep trimming them back. (Ironic since I'm DF and would think my calcium levels were dropping - but maybe I can absorbing more nutrients now?)
  10. I love the motto and I think it's very appropriate for a lot of people - not just those of us that are food challenged. Is this diet a giant P.I.T.A. (and I don't mean the bread) for me? ABSOLUTELY! But when I realize how good I feel, when I realize other people notice that I'm feeling so much better, and when I look into my daughter's eyes and know...
  11. Yes, it is and yummy! I like that it's in the microwave cup, I have it at work a lot. I beleive Progresso has other gluten-free soups and they are very good about labeling.
  12. My father has the same issue w/ his glasses - my mother and I suspect he may have gluten issues but he definitely has Type II Diabetes and severe thyroid issues. I constantly get the "you don't wear mascara???" as I also have very long lashes. No idea if it's related or not to gluten senitivity, but this is one thing I don't complain about!
  13. I agree it is very tough. I lived on pasta, pizza, sandwiches, bagels... might have something to do with the fact that I topped the scales at over 200 lbs when I was diagnosed. I also felt like crap, I had D every day, no energy, brain fog... The thing that helps me most is planning. Researching what cereals I can have, getting recommendations from...
  14. I wrote to Chapstick freaking out about the overnight lip balm I use - here is there answer (similar to cshaw's): Thank you for contacting us regarding Chap Stick® Overnight Lip Treatment, Chapstick® Medicated and, Chap Stick® Lip Balm-Regular. Your interest in our products is appreciated. Chap Stick Overnight Lip Treatment, Chap Stick Medicated an...
  15. When you're up for it, try this one from Bette Hagman: Cashew Ginger Salmon 2 - tbls honey mustard (I use Honey Cup, but you could use something milder) 1 tbls honey 1 tbls lemon juice 1 in grated ginger dash of salt 1/4 c cashews - broken up but not all crushed mix all together and spread on 1 lb salmon filet Bake 450 for 10 - 15 min, then...
  16. Do you order from Market Day? It's a great program, you buy frozen food (kind of like Schwans or GFS) and a school or church gets part of the proceeds. They have great stuff, and at good prices. I was placing my monthly order and noticed they have updated their website. Now each item has little symbols showing if the item is gluten free, peanut...
  17. I just tried the hot dogs buns and it was pretty good (although I haven't had a "real" bun in six months!). I did try their bread (plain rice I think) and thought it was styrofoam w/ a label - I did not care for it and have not tried it again.
  18. I would also have to recommend keeping it simple. Don't go over board on gluten-free products quite yet, just get a couple to try them. (They are also very expensive!). Other then bread and some occasional cookies, I look for things that are regularly gluten free - lean meats, veggies, rice, potatoes... Be prepared for your shopping trip to take twice...
  19. Yes, the frozen desert section.
  20. I just got the Truffles Bites - "a flourless chocolate cake topped with a rich ganache, enrobed in chocolate". They are on the gluten-free list. And it is SO darn good, best thing I've had in a long time - including before starting the gluten free diet!!! You've got to try them! And they're just tiny little things... how many calories can be in one?
  21. I did not care for the Ener-G bread (not sure which kind), but I remember thinking it was styrofoam with a label on it I *love* kinickkinick bread, Celaic Specialties is good too, and Glutino shortbread cookies are yummy. Yesterday I was at Trader Joe's and got the Truffle Bites (frozen desert section) a flourless chocolate cake bitesize yummy.......
  22. You might want to stick with a bland, starchy diet for a while. Are you eating dairy or soy - some people are very sensitive to other things too.
  23. Lots of potatoes (if you can do them), bananas, rice, plain chicken or turkey, eggs, white fish like talapia maybe? And I always have a stock of Progresso Chicken Wild Rice soup on hand! I'd also recommend no dairy!!! It makes it a bit harder, but a lot of people have trouble with any dairy for a long time. Feel better soon...

    ARCHIVED #&$#@!% Waiting...

I agree that you need to either get them to make an earlier appt or get your referral to someone else!! My father had a similar problem with a knee surgeon and he would call every morning (and some afternoons) to see if they had a cancellation yet. It did get him in earlier
  25. I just got back from a week in Florida. I packed lots of different snack bars, nuts, dried fruits, Progresso soup in the microwave bowl (these were in both the carryon on for having at the airport and more in the suitcase in case I ran out). I also brought my own bread and a jar of cashew butter. We did eat out a few times and I did fine. Do you have...
