ARCHIVED Gluten-free Pizza In Orlando?
StrongerToday replied to bbuster's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I was totally blown away by Chef Dan and the staff at Margartiaville. I'd have ate there every day, unfortunately the group I was with wanted to experiment more. He deserves every bit of business we can send his way... so everyone be sure to check it out! Also, if you're eating in Universal, we had a totally fabulous meal at Mythos. It's a little upscale... -

My daughter (who is not gluten-free) favorite desert is merangue cookies (also called Forgotten Cookies). Sometimes we make the merangue's big enough and put some fresh fruit or ice cream on top of them. Very yummy, very affordable! -

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Pizza In Orlando?
StrongerToday replied to bbuster's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
We went to Universal in February. The park itself was very helpful and sent me a list of what I could eat and where. My highest recommendation is for Margaritaville in City Walk. The head chef asked me what I wanted, made it, the staff was aware I was coming - he even gave me his personal cell phone number in case our plans changed! They special ordered... -

I just saw a bag in the store and yes they were gluten-free. -
I found some at on on-line grocer (I googled "kraft cheese powder") and got some in a can that's meant to be sprinkled on popcorn, etc. It's the real thing, thank GOd Someone else mentioned to me that since a box is really so cheap, why not just throw out the noodles and use the cheese package? Or could that be a cc issue for you?

StrongerToday replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi and Welcome!! I'm in Ann Arbor, so first let me recommend the Yahoo group for gluten-free Ann Arbor. (If you can't find it let me know and I'll send you the link). You'll find the postings helpful as well as a database of stores, places to eat, etc. As for you tummy problems, I would recommend that you slow down and just take it easy. Don't eat... -
ARCHIVED Freakishly Hungry.
StrongerToday replied to sansglutengrl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I first went gluten-free I was starving! My dietitican told me to eat a small portion of nuts at each meal, that I needed the fat in the nuts - I guess it's heavy and sticks around longer in your tummy to make you not feel so hungry. I was not doing many carbs at the time and was a protien junky. Nuts, hard boiled eggs, Lara bars, etc. were always... -

ARCHIVED First Trip gluten-free - Any Tips?
StrongerToday replied to alamaz's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I also always bring bread and some peanut butter. Lara bars are good too, a well as other nut/snack mixes. Progresso chicken and wild rice soup is gluten-free and only needs a microwave and a spoon. If you're flying, do not bring liquid medicine on board with you - they took my Pepto last time! It's safe in your suitcase, just not for carryon. -
ARCHIVED Quick-what Brand Whipped Topping
StrongerToday replied to brendygirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Technically, even tho it's called "dairy free" it does have casein in it! If you're cooking for someone with a casein sensitivity, I'd check with them to see if they can tolerate cool whip. (If not, just send ME the pie) -

ARCHIVED Employee Recognition/appreciation Day
StrongerToday posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I've been drafted for our Employee Appreciation Day committee, we're looking for ideas on how to acknowledge staff members and I need some good, inexpensive, suggestions. I'm not sure about Mylanta, but Pepto Bismo is good stuff. Rolaids are fine, but NOT the soft-chews. I think Tums are questionable too. I also take Pepcid and that's fine. Welcome to both of you! -

I hate it when my family is digging into something yummy and says "oh, sorry - ha ha, you can't have this". (no, really? Thanks for pointing that out. AGAIN.) StrongerToday replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I would also vote to keep the kids w/ their parents. If they are truly behaving, then they can join you for a bit - but you will have enough to worry about! Also check out theknot.com my friend did this for her wedding and loved it!
