ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?
Guhlia replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Isn't he just absolutely dreamy?!?!?! lol *said Angie in her very best Marcia Brady voice* -
I generally don't make hot dog buns because making those silly tin foil molds takes entirely too much time. Well, I finally figured out a really easy way to make hot dog buns and have them turn out looking decent with little to no extra effort. I just put a very thin layer of bread dough (I used the white bread recipe from Shari L. Sanderson's Incredible...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Poptarts
Guhlia replied to justme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hmmm... That sounds like a really good project to undertake. I may just have to give that some thought this summer before the baby's born. -
I just wanted to add that cafepress.com is another site where you can design your own merchandise: t-shirts, mugs, pillows, sweatshirts, etc.

ARCHIVED Keeping Home Made Bread Fresh?
Guhlia replied to melly7105's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We eat sandwiches practically every day when we're in a sandwich phase. We enjoy the Kinnikinnick breads. They're very good toasted lightly on a sandwich. I actually enjoy them. The Kinnikinnick sandwich bread and the cheese tapioca bread are my favorites. The italian bread is also very good. -
I was totally thinking the same thing as Amanda. A basket filled with gluten free goodies is always a good idea, especially since she's new to the diet. There are places online to buy premade baskets OR you could make your own. I suggest making your own, it's much more personal. Here's a list of a few items to include: Kinnikinnick K-toos Glutino...

ARCHIVED Help Me Understand The Difference
Guhlia replied to T-Bird's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
He may continue to encounter many ups and down. It can take a body many, many months to heal itself depending on how much damage was already done. Add in mistakes and it could take well over a year to heal. This is relatively normal. The fact that he noticed a difference immediately means that more likely than not he's at the least gluten intolerant. Is... -

ARCHIVED Have I Been Misdiagnosed?
Guhlia replied to Ginny's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Food for thought... I react VERY strongly to minute amounts of gluten, but if I purposely ingest large amounts I have no symptoms. Not that I purposely ingest large amounts, but my point is that small amounts affect me much harder than large amounts. -
ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?
Guhlia replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
In all previous years except for last the winner has appeared in the bottom 3 once. It's usually around when 5-6 people are left. I'm hoping this isn't just a fluke because I would LOVE for Blake to win. I definitely think he's awesome. Has Melinda been in the bottom 3 yet? I don't think she has been. I was really glad that Sanjaya finally got cut. I was... -

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Marisa, please let us know how your trip goes. I would LOVE to go back to New Orleans once the kids are old enough to stay with an aunt or grandparents. Also, be sure to let us know if any of the bars down there carry Red Bridge or any other gluten free alcoholic treats.

She can still have noodles... Tinkyada is the favorite brand around here. I've served them to guests and they haven't noticed a difference. It may take Emily a few weeks or maybe even months to improve any more. Has she eliminated dairy from her diet? Many Celiacs are lactose intolerant for the first 6 months or so. Also, is she still taking her prenatals...

ARCHIVED Kinnickinnick Products
Guhlia replied to I3Daniel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think the bagels are very similar to regular ones. They're sweeter and the texture isn't exact, but they're very good. I've gotten used to them and I think they're great. They don't fair well with peanut butter though, something about the flavor of the bagel, it just doesn't mix. I like them with lots and lots of cream cheese. I've never had the english... -

The new wave of country music really isn't very country anymore. Your mom is right, Amanda. I do have to admit though, I really like country music, both old and new. They all picked relatively un-country country songs, which is fine as most of America probably isn't very into the old style country music. I really hope if Sanjaya doesn't go home tonight... -
ARCHIVED Kinnickinnick Products
Guhlia replied to I3Daniel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If it spoils enroute, I imagine that you could get a refund. They are very easy to work with. I've never had anything spoil on its way to me. Plus, the bonus of ordering online is that it's $10 shipping to US no matter how much you buy, so stock up. I buy everything I can from them. I really, really like their baked goods. The donuts, bagels, and cinnamon... -
ARCHIVED Kinnickinnick Products
Guhlia replied to I3Daniel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just wanted to add that cookies and cereal don't need to be frozen. I generally buy my flours and mixes in bulk from them and freeze them, but you don't have to freeze or refrigerate the flours if you're going to use them up right away. -

Ok guys, it's Tuesday! What did everyone think? ***SPOILER*** I actually thought Sanjaya was decent again this week. I'd much rather see Chris go before him now. I can't stand Chris' nasal voice. Especially now that I know he's doing it on purpose. Yuck! You guys know what a huge Blake Lewis fan I am, but this week I thought he totally bombed. I... -
ARCHIVED Going To Disney World In June!
Guhlia replied to SUZ42's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
If you PM me your e-mail address I will send you my lists for eating in the parks at Disney. I have a really good list. -
Ok, I haven't talked to my doctor yet about this, but I'm planning on it with my next check up. I have broken out in this bright red rash on my back. It's been there for over a month and resembles acne, but it's fire red and not going away on its own. It is slightly painful and itchy, but not too bad. Does anyone have any clue what this might be? It's been...

ARCHIVED We're New Here!
Guhlia replied to puttersmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome to the forum! I use tons of GV brand products. They are wonderful. They always put on the label if it's made in a facility with wheat, so I really trust them. -
ARCHIVED Chebe
Guhlia replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jenny, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. My family won't eat Chebe. Our ducks outside won't even eat Chebe. I just think the stuff is kind of gross. -
ARCHIVED Where To Start?
Guhlia replied to BUGTWIG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gluten Free for Dummies is a really good starting point for some basic information as well as a few recipes. If you're a picky eater, I would recommend the Incredible Edible Gluten Free Food For Kids by Shari L. Sanderson as your first cookbook. They are very simple, yet tasty, recipes. Also, the Bette Hagman books are awesome cookbooks. -
ARCHIVED Redbridge - What Does Gluten-free Mean Anheuser-busch?
Guhlia replied to rh4's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I spoke to Anhueser-Busch last year when Red Bridge first came out, before it hit the public market. For some reason our distributor got it in two weeks before the release date. Anyway, when I spoke to A-B they assured me that it was made on dedicated equipment and that's why production runs were limited, because there was only one factory where they could...
