  1. I say I have food allergies. It doesn't matter if it's not exactly the correct terminology in that case. People automatically understand you have serious adverse reactions to a food and usually won't ask for further explanation beyond "what happens to you?" (to that I say, "I get extremely ill." Then I change the subject )
  2. I found it in this random environmental store. You can order it Open Original Shared Link though, or check your local health food store.
  3. Hi - Rice Dream is not safe for those with gluten intolerance or celiac. You can try Pacific Rice Milk or Whole Foods 365 Rice Milk. There are generally a few rice milk options at health food stores. I've actually been drinking hemp milk. It's pretty good, and seems to have more of a nutritious value when compared to the stuff that's just rice and...
  4. Oh yeah good point . Iku does have yummy desserts though. The place near Wynyard Station is called Pure. It's in Hunter Connection near George and Hunter St. It's just soup and smoothies and juice, but it's good safe food. There's a place called Salad Works a little farther down Hunter St. that sells the Roberto's muffins.
  5. I highly recommend MyChelle products. I find them much better than department store products. Plus, they are all natural and free of harmful preservatives and toxins. I have horrible skin and this stuff works really well for me. You can get it at health food stores. They say all of their products are gluten-free. They sell a good sample kit for not...
  6. I don't know about collard greens, but when I cook kale (or kale with spinach) I sautee it in olive oil. When it's cooked I add lemon and salt. I don't know if that's kid friendly enough though. Kale is also really cool when you chop it up into really small pieces and add it to rice dishes and such. That way you can't taste it too much , but the...
  7. I think vote for the worst will unfortunately keep Antonella around for a while. If they start promoting Sanjaya he'll likely stick around too. I thought AJ sung wayyy better than most of the other guys. It doesn't surprise me that he wasn't too popular despite that I hope Melinda's talent keeps her around for a while. Well that's my...
  8. Hi Amber - Well I'm not a local, but here's what I found while I was in Sydney: Iku Wholefood was one of my favorite places to grab something quick: Open Original Shared Link They have a few locations in the cbd and several more in the surrounding areas. I loved that place in The Rocks on Argyle. It was a happy day when I was searching...
  9. I was curious too. The Urban Dictionary really comes in handy sometimes haha Open Original Shared Link
  10. Yep, I've tried Kookie Karma. I liked it. I think I even created a thread about it haha. It was a while ago though. They are pricey, but worth it on occasion I think
  11. The guys were sooo boring! I kind of liked Blake and Chirs R., but I'm thinking i won't bother watching the guys anymore until they're down to the top 12
  12. I guess I'll randomly pop in here I bought one at home depot once when I was in college, after listening to a lecture in my kineseology class about the dangers of tap water LOL. I don't know if it was a very high quality one, but was very easy to install. You just kind of unscrew part of the shower head and then connect the filter to it. I guess it...
  13. I don't ever cook with garlic or onions. I don't think I'm intolerant to them but they do bother me a little bit. From now on, you'll probably enjoy the other flavors in your food more, as garlic simply overpowers everything else, rather than actually enhancing flavors. I don't substitute anything for garlic in recipes. I simply leave it out. If...
  14. I believe there's something called Nomato for people with tomato allergies and nightshade intolerance. I've seen it advertised in "Living Without"
  15. I used to have a problem where it felt like someone was constantly squeezing my esophogus with their hand and my throat always felt swollen and constricted. I hate to sound redundant, but it did turn out that soy was my problem (and it took me forever to figure it out, because I felt like that always, and not just when I ate soy).
  16. No but...farmed salmon is usually injected with coloring to make it pink (farmed fish eat unnatural diets that cause unnatural coloring). Some people are bothered by farmed salmon for that reason (whether or not that's gluten-related..I don't know ) .
  17. Happy Birthday Patti!!!
  18. Raw vegan food it pretty tasty. I love raw vegan pie, raw vegan ice cream and raw vegan ranch dressing. A lot of their food is soaked and sprouted properly, so it's more easily digestible and nutritionally beneficial. I enjoy eating at raw vegan restaurants because all of the food is gluten, dairy and soy-free, and it tastes really good!
  19. This is not a Kinnickinnick bash : I really like Kinnikinnick and I think it's an amazing product for most celiacs. However, Kinnikinnick products give me some pretty crazy allergic reactions. I think my body can't tolerate some of the chemicals in that stuff. I'm sure it's gluten-free. I don't think it's a gluten issue. I just want to throw that out...
  20. Sorry Lister . Try not to freak out too much. Everything might turn out completely okay. I'll be hoping for you that it does.
  21. I LOVE Arrowhead Mills pankcake mix! I add rice milk, honey and egg, and it is so good! I've never bothered to try any other brand of gluten-free pancakes because I like it so much
  22. My favorite salad dressing is just plain olive oil and balsamic vinegar, in no particular measurements. I get sick from the preservatives and additives in bottled dressings, but I'm always surprised by how tasty the plain oil and vinegar is
  23. LOL yeah that was bad timing (or maybe it was good timing?) Regardless, I'm revoking that official decision I made a few days ago to start eating lots of peanut butter
  24. I'm jealous too. That's so cool. Are there many gluten-containing foods in Africa? I'm really curious about that now. I think in some parts of Africa the main staple is a root, but I'm not sure. Does the tour company provide meals? Gosh that's so cool. I want to go there I don't have any helpful advice - except stick to eating plants and animals...
